  1. Buy a re-chargeable hand warmer, you can get a reasonable one for about £20, no messing with lighter fluid.
  2. I have a plasterers bath at the front of the garage, ran hot and cold water supply to a cheap shower mixer tap. nice for the dog and my hands.
  3. This is my 4th season using a pair, no complaints at all, good sturdy boot.
  4. Well Done! Like your presentation.
  5. Everyone in our cul-de-sac knows I shoot, I tell most people I meet that I shoot. I think we should, I know there maybe a security issue telling people but I grasp at any opportunity to try to promote shooting and explain what we do and why we do it. If people don't like it then tough.
  6. The bottom line is whatever was in them or how long they have been there, these cartridges were discarded by shooters. Whether on the fore shore, on a rough shoot or driven day..... just pick your bloody cartridges up and take them home to disposed of correctly. Its indefensible leaving empty carts anywhere, others may litter the environment but 2 wrongs don't make a right, and we, more others shouldn't give ammunition to those apposed to what we do.
  7. Not answering your question I know, but I do know if you have looked after grandchildren while the parents are working after retirement you can claim the time toward your NI contributions, as Tightchoke says, Martin Lewis is your man.
  8. I sit then stand, last week got up to take a shot and the dog must have knocked my chair over. sat back, no chair! would have probably made a good youtube video luckily I was shooting on my own.
  9. Thanks for all the replies, i will take a trip to Halfords with a dead pigeon or maybe just go with grey primer.
  10. I've got some shell (flocked) decoys which are a bit too light in colour, I want to spay them a more realistic colour. Can anybody recommend a colour shade which is more realistic?
  11. I had one on a 3 year lease and wouldn't recommend, although roomy inside and a reasonable drive, range on the electric is no where near the 30miles quoted. More like 10miles in reality, not very economical on petrol either. Very small tank so you are constantly filling it up. That's just my view only, depends what you want and what you are comparing it with.
  12. I think the final price of poults will depend on whether any birds come from France, it seems people are optimistic that they will.
  13. I used to leave my car parked in France for up to 6 months, I used to disconnect the battery and have a spare one in the boot. Never leave the hand break on. It was an old Zafira never had a problem starting it, never needed the spare battery.
  14. Haysmiths Sloe Gin is on offer at Aldi £10.99, I've bought a few at that price, will save for next years shoot days.
  15. The only positive for me was they did get across the impact on the people involved in shooting. The interviews with the keeper, the 2 under keepers, the gundog trainer and the lady providing the food, as well as the old bird who had taken up beating. The programme just wont change views of those are for or against shooting. Don't think the antis will be bothered about the rural economy or the impact of people who enjoy the sport.
  16. I understand its only a small minority of shoots which have been effected, most will get through the season. The major concern is next season, was discussing this with a breeder/shoot owner this weekend. He has to make a decision in the next few weeks, does he shoot all is birds out now and get cash in now? or leave them to catch up for next seasons breeding, with the risk of having thousands of birds he can't release/sell next season? Wouldn't like to be in his shoes.
  17. if you are transferring money use wise.com
  18. Bumper crop here in south yorks. Aldi have it in around Xmas and its just come in. Mrs picked up 2 bottles the other day Haysmiths 75cl £14.99.
  19. If sending away for training is definitely not an option, try a long line. Throw the dummy out at a short distance. send the dog, be firm and give tug if he doesn't come back, when he does come back, lots of praise, be really silly and make it exiting. Keep doing this and extending the distance and hopefully, he will get the message, this is a good game. After a while I'm sure you will be able to let the line trail and if he goes off, run and tread on the line, it may take a long time (months), but be consistent in the approach and eventually you should be able to shorten the line and take eventually take it off. The dog is still very young, don't give up, don't get frustrated, don't put him in a potion where he can play his game, be consistent. Good luck.
  20. Derfa Map of cases. Norfolk/Suffolk worst hit area. https://defra.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8cb1883eda5547c6b91b5d5e6aeba90d
  21. Definitely cases near Selby, East Yorkshire. Apparently a poultry farm, now has a 3 mile exclusion zone, I understand if your shoot is within this area you can still shoot but birds cant be taken out of the zone.
  22. I hear there are some cases of bird flu, Norfolk and East Yorkshire, 3 mile exclusion zones implemented. It appears these are commercial poultry farms. How do you think they will deal with shoots within any of the exclusion zones? I assume shoots in these zones will not be able to carry on.
