  1. Where was i when all these disasters happened, i have been at this 50 years now, Ok i was in NZ some of that time but still in touch with my dad and that he was shooting/ wildfowling then, he never said anything. Serious question Where when was this? Ok now you go lay down old lad take the weight off your ears. .
  2. Always worth it not only do you get a better performing load you get what you want exactly, without compromise. and you can taylor the load for your gun your needs and your prefered performance level. We are restricted here by CIP which might or might not change. but reloads are what you want to make them. cost savings are not the big thing with reloading, even though say for pigeons or even close waterfowl you can use Indicast shot Labeled S7 which is approximately 2.8mm 5/6 £45 + vat for 28KGs bag . Use CSB5 powder B&P wads at moment and you on for cheaper shooting than you can buy. start buying from claygame etc. your going to save little if anything, but with the often unconsidered advantages if you vallue them reloading is the way to go. I shoot little else but reloads have done this for years.
  3. Handsome is as handsome does as the old saying goes. I can not fault BASC and what it does. If i ever find them coming up short i will be sure to let you and them know. Hard boiled egg yokes mixed with arrowroot will steady your bowel movements, its an old age thing hope it all works out for you.
  4. Have a little play with my foil card hybrid wad Idea, I only used the lathe because it was there i just turned the chuck by hand. You could use anything. Your basicaly forming a foil cylinder the lenght of the foil roll, and glueing it untill you get 6 laps, then on to the plotter paper with its flour and water paste glue again 6 laps. Let it all cure about 3 days. and cut it with UPVC pipe cutter / cropper. its strong light and survives well even at speed. I use a 20 ga nitro glued to a 12 ga nitro and then a felt and gue it into the cylinder slieve. it has the 20 nitro as a cup base and the 12 nirto as suport, the felt and obviously a inverted card cup and a nitro or even just a top card then the felt. i used gas seal but only because i have no inverted cup former and not worked out a way to make a better seal yet. Could be these bio wads get mainstream pretty fast, so i could be wasting my time and why i just loaded RSI wads in the ten for this season. I think in SXs and O/Us i might even look at brass cases for the 12s, get around the plas hull tubes. they are reusable but at some point, the greens are going to claim Quite rightly they will end up in landfill. so brass though not for semi autos pumps etc, could be an option for double / fixed breach guns. .
  5. They will come down in time, and all this just weeks after the big dogs of our cartridge industry said it would take years.
  6. I hope you have a good one motty it is coming around quick now, get this next fortnight and to august it will fly. 20s are good i have had a few with them, i actually like 20 bores. I do want to do more with .410. in the fullness of time. but this year with the uncertainty, and lots of ten bore RSI wads to use up i decided to push the boat out and go all ten for wildfowling even ducks. All the best for the season.
  7. Work fine just run reduced loads keep speeds under 2200fps. Cheap to load and ideal for table rabbits or even foxing if your wanting the pelts perhaps. buy the RCBS cast bullet manual, i have a copy here somewhere if you need any loads. Most cast loads run pistol / shotgun powders i used various in .22250 over the years. use Lino type if you can get it. lead might be harder to get these days with wheel weights getting scarcer. but you should be able to make a hard enough melt. Its another aspect of the sport should you want to take it up. I just had a quick look book i have is number 1 RCBs cast bullets. Few different powders, which get the .223 to 2200ish FPS. Green dot / unique / 4756 Red dot. All should be easy enough to get dispite REACH restrictions. The unique load as an example is 1900s FPs for 7.5 grain to 2158 for 8.5 grain. to give you an idea on what your talking typical loads. If you want any more details just ask. .222 is in there too and a full book of other bullets and calibres.
  8. Draw what conclusions/ doubts you want, it is of no consequence to to me whatsoever.
  9. We will be here for some time yey, be positive. I dont think anyone can not see the advantages of leaving it in place, but 1 in 1000 need it and only 1 in 2000 are taken up. Its the age old question of value for money.
  10. They can not do anything to any opposition, they can look at the legality of any threats in house, and have knowledgable staff who represent us in many ways, and if challenges are presented to us are in a good position to know what to do and if and when to act. Their web site explains what they offer, and no other organisation ever in the uk has had so much in place to represent such a broad range of shooters in the uk to date.
  11. Only scully and me know that nothing to do with you that is why i took it to PMs. I dont want to air it on open forum thank you i consider it sensitive and potential damaging to our sport, and exactly why i replied to scully . i do trust his integrity in all matters. Now please could you stop with this childish poking for what i said nothing to see here move on and be respectful of others.
  12. What would you have BASC do ? And on what issue.? Still waiting for a crime? This very thread is about the cessation of legal expenses from the end of the month. an explanation was given by BASC. if you dont like it write to them tell them get involved. Other than that we just have the typical witch hunt so beloved of PW of late . Was it 21 pages on the lead shot suggestion by BASC, many including you venting about basc, Basc getting slated for not asking the cartridge companies when they claimed to have. the cartridge companies joint statement claimed they could not produce bio wad options in the time scale. yet here we are just months latter with available options. And YET it was apparently going to take YEARS. Who lied there then?
  13. Better in those sizes its bigger than BBs you start to notice it comparatively.
  14. I have been shooting since 11 "1970" and going with my father and grandfather wildfowling since i was in infants school . I was in WAGBI, and i am loosing nothing. WAGBI was nothing compared to what BASC has evolved into. It cover a broader range of shooting sports and offers more support and advice than WAGBI ever could have. the times we live in now are very different to anything WAGBI ever could or would have ever envisaged. LOVE BASC or LOATHE it its our only truly representative shooting organisation currently. if you know of another then please tell us we would love to know.
  15. You wont get 3/4 oz of BB+ steel shot through a 1 oz lead bushing no matter how many times you try.
  16. I know they are currently involved with the Natural England wild fowling consents issues. It is a fact patience is a virtue. , some on here could gain from. Yep your silly.
  17. your being silly again. 11v pages of no fact just gripeing about a organisation managing its money for the greater good. pruning where there is little uptake and half that taken on. Its not me who needs to give up is it.
  18. No i am genuinely trying to understand the problem your seeing with BASC.
  19. Do not seem? Thats not exactly conclusive is it. This is what i mean, we do not seem to have any real meat on the plate here. and even if we did, and they WERE WRONG. What of it. what other option have we got, its not an ideal situation for the dissenchaned in our midst. But perhaps looking a bit more at the real facts, with a slightly less hard line attitude, could show that things perhaps were not really quite as bad as first thought. What are they doing now that is WRONG?.
  20. Look debating history is fine swift this not so swift John swift its all history, we can not changer it we can not do anything about it now. Then is then now is now. AND NOW! we got trouble . we need to draw a line in the sand and move on, nothing ever to be gained by digging over the past, we all got skeletons in cupboards, BASC is real life, its got people in it its bound to have faults somewhere. Stop picking old scabs leave them heal or they will scar believe me. We have to get with BASC, we dont have another horse to ride, and forget any promised foals, the mare is not even in foal yet. BASC get with them. We have to.
  21. All very general criticisms, with no real content. Its simply not possible to please everybody, and its not realistic to expect basc or any such organisation to have every answer to all of shootings woes. BASC can do what they can do, they are not a political power have no government role. but they can be rthere to represent us and help where they can. Many of the problems associated with BASC are not acctualy prob lems at all just gripes and moans from a few. the whole lead shot plaswad thing. look at that for heavens sake. LIES. BASC were not lieing. But the cartridge companies issued a statement and WOW! BASC were beneth contempt. years until wads could be made? No they are showing up for sale now. SO i ask you who was lieing then? BASC got criticism over not knowing about the GLs going to be pulled. What do they need to employ then a line up of gypsy rose lees, or psychic mediums. . ? . Its unrealistic to expect them to know everything, and criticism is fine, but we need actual cases of falliure , but even then, its not everyone who feels its failiure in the first instance. Gripers of BASC are the same usual suspects on here, and how much of the criticism stacks up if any, and how much close scrutiny will it withstand. take the cartridge firm denial as an example. BASC bashing is popular they know that we all know it.
