  1. Do you mean you won't charge them ? or you don't want them to charge you to do the pest control ? Just wondering ?
  2. Excellent company to deal with in my experience .they have made one off special moderators for me in the past .
  3. I think 7 years old is 5 years too soon . For a shot gun .I didn't start mine till 14 years old and then I used a .410.
  4. Exactly what he said above .with good accuracy from the bsa barrel .
  5. Tom Nelson. Is or was a bsa super ten expert .he loved them and had loads .tuning and working on them and competing with them .a very knowledgeable man .a bsa fan . Aka - Rancid Tom. FYI.
  6. As above I definitely recommend something like a 4 - 12 x 50 hawke scope .a vantage or fast mount version will be more than enough magnification and quality for over 90 % of any shooting you could think of .
  7. Our house hold rule is .decide on exactly the design you want .and then wait for 6 months .if you still want exactly that design then fine go ahead .if you have changed your mind on it then you have to wait another 6 months with the new design . Change the time frame to suit .it could be 12 months if you prefer . But if forces you to consider the long term consequences .if you can't wait 6 months your too impulsive and a tattoo isn't the correct thing to do . Also .ask her if she wants to change or alter her body why doesn't she sart with her muscles or weight. Or hair see the positive effects that can take you on before the ink .
  8. As far as I've always understood how a bird or any quarry for that matter is taken- is due to the impact velocity and the sectional density of the projectile to carry the pellet the depth required to impart enough energy and velocity to the vitals. So a very fast pellet with enough mass will penetrate deep enough .with shot guns this is required multiple times, so a high pellet count on target is required to make up the general lack or precision. It therefore makes perfect sense that a cartridge load that has many many small but very dense pellets landing on target at range and a fast speed will kill way better than the opposite scenario of a lower pellet count ,wide spread , moving slower at range (even if they are larger ) with a lower sectional density . The first is an excellent example of no 9 shot tss shot (they kill crazy well ) The second is a no 4 shot steel load . Which don't kill as well . it's not difficult science . Obviously lead sits in the middle and has always been the best compromise .
  9. 20 b semi auto . Maybe the ata vensa I have one in 12 b and its really nice and soft to shoot while being a quality product . It should also handle the lighter 21 grm carts if needed .
  10. Pull it back further and you get more power your limited by the length of your arms .
  11. Biggest issue with spring pistols is the power .they are usually around 2 fpe which is probably not quite enough for even caged rats at point blank . A co2 crosman or a pump up pistol (again crosman ) will give you around 5 fpe which is more than enough . A springer pistol that does do say 4 fpe ,tends to be a big old lump of a gun .I looked at just this scenario in the summer for myself and didn't really want the faf of co2 .the spring pistols that were gonna be powerful enough were huge . I went with a pump up crosman .177 that I can vary from 2 - 5.5 fpe interestingly above 3.5 fpe seems to be enough for humane dispatch for rats and pigeons and crows with pb. head shots .
  12. I will second the 19 crimes .they are very good .and also the rammy red roo .lovely and sweet can't go wrong with it .
  13. Exactly .you better shooting an 11 grm load which is plenty quiet enough but at least the shot that hits the bird is going fast enough to do damage and kill the bird .I often use 11 grm hull clay and game carts .they travel around 1200 fps and ive dropped pige at 25 yds plus .but to be fair 20 yds is a more realistic range for them but at least they kill and they are cheaper also .
  14. I've shot thos 24 grm bornaghi carts. They are ridiculously quiet in a hushpower. 410 but they don't kill birds beyond 15 yds as the shot is only doing around 700 fps at the muzzle
  15. I'm not sure many 17 hmr s are used sub 20 yds . That's where I see 4x mag as useful. 3x for around 10 - 15 yds . 6 x for around 30 yds 9x up to around 50 yds max and 12x for up to maybe 80 yds I like 16 x for 100 yds and more mag maybe 24 x for anything above 130 yds . That's me and my opinion I know some people feel 4x if perfect for shooting out to 500 yds .and it probably is if your shooting at the side of barns but for rabbits /crows rats etc(hmr quarry) a bit more precision is required I feel .and the above will serve you well .
  16. I actually really like the airmax scopes they tend to be excellent optically .32x will be a big scope could make the gun a bit top heavy. Depends on your gun really and how you shoot? if off a bi pod probably not an issue personally I think 16 x would be enough mag for a 17. Or 24x if you fancy pushing out beyond 150 yds .the 32 x will certainly give you some useful aim points for bullet drop out to 300 yds if thats your thing .? My 24x airmax is mrad I find it good for dialing in the shot for long range seems to work well .
  17. I have to say I'd love a 28 gauge I'd probably also use the high pheasant 23 grm no 7 .as they are mustard in .my .410 ou at 18 grm of no 7 . That extra bit more lead of 5 grms would probably give me another 5 yds range over the .410 and be all the gun I could ever need for my shooting . It's just the price and availability of carts and an inpending lead ban that puts me off .
  18. I remember using 1/2 penny coins to go to the corner shop .to by sweets . There were a few that were 1/2 p each 7.5 p got me enough for the walk home .
  19. Be prepared for the frustration that is winter rape shooting . You can be in exactly the right field and place and time .and they will drop in on the opposite end of the field . 1 shot to lift them and they disappear for the next 3 hours . I've never had a bag over 15 on rape . But it is fun to try and gets us out on even to wildest of winter. days .
  20. Brilliant thank you . Really enjoyed looking at the adverts especially the tempest .
