  1. I take it you have tried the usual suspects in .22 for a bsa barrel . Falcons . Crosman prems Bisley lrg These are my top three in that order .
  2. You really paint a picture .
  3. For hunting - bolt action over a sa. Every time . For long range targets bolt action. For shooting tin cans as fast as possible semi auto .
  4. I was in boscastle 2 weeks ago .blew me away how beautiful it is down there on the coast
  5. The whole idea of public toilets is to stop people peeing and pooing all over the place . If they charge that increases .pretty simple equation .
  6. Some times use my night site. Big add on screen on top of the gun .Still works . I dont like near Eye nv .
  7. I have a bsa lightening in .177 that is very accurate and I often shoot it at50 yds plus on targets tin cans spinners etc .but I readily accept that this gun is the exception and not the rule when it comes to lightenings the newer ones seems to have also sorts of quality issues . But no doubt if you find a good one it will do it . I'm not sure the above is a recommendation more of an observation . Ps I don't rate the hw 98 personally .but that is after a poor experience many years ago . I'd look at the new hw 57 under lever personally .in .177
  8. This I like .I second it . A HIDE of pigeon shooters 👍
  9. Bull pups and .22 cal isn't often a great combination .depending on the type of shooting your doing . But at general .22 ranges from say 5 to 30 yds the high scope hight tends to make for difficult shot placement and require precise range estimation and a good knowledge of your trajectory/ reticle . A .177 is a lot easier in this regard .

No I haven't heard from nev for probably 6 months
  11. OK. So personally I'd avoid all the reg adjustable fx stuff .like impacts and the ilk. I do have an fx wild cat mk1 and it's non adjustable and it's been spot on - set and forget for the last 8 years . The adjustable ones are a rabbit hole of hell as far as I've seen . If you want to spend your life and savings on air and pellets and have limitless time then fill your boots .but if you want to hunt with it keep it simple . The uragan guns look good . Get your fac .22 running around 30 fpe then buy a nice light weight. 177 pcp for garden and farm yard work . Something like a bsa ultra will do the trick .
  12. Generally adjustable power sounds like a good idea but the reality is that what you want for longer range shooting with a fac airgun is power levels that are very consistent ,leading to improved accuracy . Anything that can be easily adjusted tends to move a little by its self and reduces consistency resulting in poor performance at most ranges and especially at long range . Also even if it did work very well and hold its settings sufficiently .People tend to only use one power on that gun. As rezeroing u/d l/r can be a pain in the xxxx and a waste of time /air / pellets /quarry . That's my opinion .
  13. So I'm a big bsa fan .and badgered bsa to make a bullpup for years .then they eventually released the defiant . And I feel they got it wrong .. It's very heavy. It's a bit too much gamo instead of bsa .in the breach area . It makes a farty sound on firing which indicates a lot of hammer bounce and wasted air (lower shot count than it should have - gamo pcp again ) Trigger doesn't feel too great either . I played with a sh .one I found in a shop last month and was reminded of all the above again . I also had a play with a gamo boxer which is supposed to be a poor cousin of the defiant . It certainly was .the trigger felt like that of a £90 Chinese plastic springer . Horrible . Anyway disappointed with the definat .I made my own bsa bullpup from a scorpion t10 which I feel worked out very well indeed .my son uses it for hunting and targets .it's very short and light, accurate and gives 60 shots in .177 .
  14. Having watched a few vids now of .223 v .308 or 5.56 v 7.62 nato I can see why the 5.56 is the favoured cal . It flys faster dumps more energy on soft targets recoils less is easier to suppress but most of all its 3 times lighter and hence easier to carry . The only advantage I see of the 7.62 is for targets in excess of 500 yds which is sniper territory and the sniper rifles are chambered in .762 . I watched a second vid in this new gun and its seems very ideal for the job in every aspect .
  15. Yeah. I looked and virtually all the reviews were very bad .I've no personal experience so I don't know .just going on what I've read .fwiw.
  16. The reviews on this .22 lr are very poor .with a wide range of diffent problems including total failure and gun blowing up .which I take means ruptured barrel .
  17. I'm of the mind that . I'd rather have converted a known reliable accurate gun into a fac rifle than take a chance buying a new or sh gun that could be a lemon and now you have it " stuck " on your ticket . Your scorpion will like the same pellet at 30 fpe as it does at 12 fpe .
  18. Say it will be a dedicated night vision gun (which I can be if needed ) this is usually regarded as good reason for a second cal .
  19. I've only just seen this thread sorry lb.
  20. I've not had a gamo pcp but have felt their triggers (yup poor ) I dont think they are replaceable with a bsa unit .the rear end of the gun appears to be totally different .
  21. Virtually every gun pcp made , is made to be able to operate at 12 fpe and fac levels with a few parts swapped out for the new power . Bsa sell the scorpion in America and other counties that have no power limit imposed . These are known as export models the guns do tend to have longer 18 inch barrels and even 24 inch ones this makes achiving over 900 fps easier and saves air increasing shots . But even the short 12 inch ultra barrel will achieve 900 fps in .22 And I presume in .177 also though I haven't tried that .
  22. Yes your bsa scorpion .Will convert to fac relatively easily . I've converted a scorpion se .177 and an ultra se .22 With a 15 .5 inch barrel you will probably get 20 shots at around 28 fpe . But you can easily run 13 .4 grn pellets at around 900 fps for around 25 fpe and get the same flat trajectory and a few more shots I use them at 22 fpe for 870 fps and they work very well . 30 - 35 shots from my ultra . As for the conversion - through your rfd /local gun Smith is the best /recommended route the police prefer .
