  1. I live very near to where this happend. ------------------------------------ Three held in shotgun probe Feb 26 2004 By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner ARMED police swooped on a wood in Huddersfield after shots were heard and people were seen with guns. The firearms officers responded after a man and two youths were seen at Round Wood, off Woodedge Avenue in Waterloo, at 4.30pm yesterday. Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "The armed officers could hear firearms being discharged in the wood and arrested the three at gunpoint. "They were taken to Huddersfield police station for questioning." The three - a 20-year-old man and two boys aged 14 and 15 - all come from Waterloo. The 20-year-old has been charged with illegally possessing a shotgun. The 15-year-old has been bailed pending further inquiries. No further action will be taken against the 14-year-old. A shotgun, an air rifle and ammunition for both weapons were recovered by police. Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "This must have been a frightening experience for witnesses who saw these people with weapons. "Ultimately it must have been frightening for them to be arrested at gunpoint. "Incidents like this are taken exceptionally seriously. They put both others and the people with the weapons at risk."
  2. Guys, Does anyone know where I can get a cheap Webley Venon Kit for my HW77. I saw somewhere that a guy got one for 30 quid, but the cheapest I can find is £50. Cheers, Col.
  3. Thanks Hammergun, I think the Napier London Gunstock Finishing Kit may be worth a try. Cheers, Col.
  4. Can anyone suggest the best/easiest way to restore a HW77 stock. I know you can use an iron and damp cloth to lift out any dents but what is the best thing to use to finish it off. What sort of varnish etc do you need to use. How much work would be involved ? Thanks Col.
  5. Hammergun, So can you not shoot anything at all, Rabbits, rats etc with a crossbow? I have looked on the web and can't find anything about what you can and can't do in the UK with a Crossbow. Col.
  6. As far as I know it is the Brocock type guns that have been made illegal as they can be modified to shoot real bullets. Take a look at these links: http://www.brocock.co.uk/ http://www.brocock.co.uk/ho.htm Hope this helps. Col.

Hi, Well I have bought myself a second/third hand Weihrach HW77. It looks well used and I have no idea what sort of mechanical condition it is in, whether the spring needs replacing or anything. If anyone out there in the West Yorkshire area knows thier way around one of these and would be happy to have a look at it for me then I would be more than delighted. I do freelance PC consultancy and would happily sort out any problems you may have with your PC system,(if you have one that is) sort of a skill transfer. Obviously I'm not going to completely rebuild the thing as I wouldn't expect people to start putting components in the rifle free of charge. If anyone is interested please drop me a mail. Cheers, Col.
  8. I don't know if anyone is after one of these but looks like a good price at the moment. 15 quid with 3 days to go as of 28th/1 Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...33&category=383 Hope it is of use to someone. Col.
  9. Any pests/Vermin. Feather or fur I would obviously want to get some practice in first. Plus I would need to get the sights sorted too before even attempting anything alive. Col.
  10. Oops, yes Scoot. Good point. I'm in Huddersfield , West Yorkshire
  11. Hi, Brand new to the forum, Good forum it is too. I used to shoot air guns as a lad some years ago, ( Still have my old BSA Scorpion pistol). I then moved to the South of France where I bought myself a 22 carbine. Came back here at the beginning of the 80's had a family and now want to get shooting again. I have had the offer of a secondhand Weirach HW77 with Bushmaster 4x40 Scope for 100 quid. I understand these are excellent guns for hunting. I would be seriously dissapointed if I got it and wasn't in a position for anywhere to shoot it so I'm trying to find somewhere first. So if anyone knows of somewhere or can put me on the right tracks i would greatly appreciate it. Cheers, Col.
