  1. Lovely. All the electronic gizmos do not pull the trigger though however much they help with setup. Glad I have a few more hedgerows than you to get closer.
  2. About size of a sparrow. I thought maybe Dunnock due to head or young goldfinch due to tail feathers?
  3. Good tip, I might grow some gherkin type ones for pickling. Anything commercially pickled has far too much sugar.

I think India is going to be the benchmark for letting the virus run its natural course. Millions of deaths may occur or an alternative way to die with underlying problems or unlucky genes - time and approximate overall deaths year on year in India will tell.

there is also the third criteria of more folk having had cv (albeit knowingly, unknowingly and even with an incorrect test result) and the number of infectious folk dropping naturally. I think some isolation type rules are being hugely flouted, by most parts of society, much to the annoyance of the cv police, yet, as you rightly say deaths and admissions are down. Could there also be a further correlation that despite folk meeting up when they were not supposed to they did at least use common sense and restrict themselves largely to outdoors due to the good weather we have had in the last few weeks? There was certainly a big drop off in admissions last summer as well. As always there is no right answer, all we can do is try things and see what works and what does not.

I agree, I am not sure either, so much of what has been decided we should/must do has been based on incomplete or inaccurate evidence.
  7. My secret weapon for all roasts, particularly venison, as it retains lots of moisture in the meat and also seems to help marinaded joints. Lid off at the end for a really crispy finish if preferred but high heat at the start and then long and slow works for me. Pork with crackling excepted. Possibly the one time when thin honeycomb steel from China works to your advantage.
  8. we will have to agree to disagree Lloyd and please do not shout at me with capitals as it is extremely rude. Shouting your opinion at folk usually means an unwillingness to admit that their opinion has any merit what so ever. I am sad that you are so blinkered.
  9. I suspect reasonable quantities of a strongly flavoured red wine or ale will be needed to quaff with such a rich dish, sounds lovely. Stews and curries always mature and taste better the next day.
  10. only nonsense in your eyes. Many folk believe, as I do, that those who chose to live outside of the rules we have decided society should live by should also live outside of the rules of human rights. Just because a system is current does not make it right, nor should it make it permanent. If a system has been tried and it is not working then we should challenge it repeatedly and vigorously and so change it.

Looks like India are on track to achieve a greater degree of herd immunisation against the current cv variants quicker than most countries. As to statistics - I do not believe any country is yet reporting 100% correctly deaths due directly to CV nor is it likely to happen. The almost infinite number of outside influences that could be relevant to any death really do prevent accurate numbers. Todays society now expects graphs and figures and also accepts them as meaningful if they appear in the media without really questioning as that is uncomfortable. This being the case and with the effects of the virus on the younger generations being shown to be reasonably negligible, why are we not allowing the younger generations to mix freely, catch cv and get over their mild symptoms as quickly as possible? That should reduce the overall number of infectious folk quite quickly. Those of use that are in the more vulnerable age groups can continue to be sensible, get jabs if they chose to do so etc etc. In 10 years time we will probably no longer be discussing the cv death rates, just as we have not discussed the deaths from flu, even though they existed before cv and now appear to have disappeared completely, from the statistics at least.
  12. From an email from Suffolk Police received today 'Police are appealing for help to trace a prisoner who has absconded from Hollesley Bay. Zenel Marku, aged 29, was found to be missing earlier yesterday evening, Monday, 26 April. He is serving a sentence of nine years for drug offences.' Hollesley Bay is cat 4 historically described as an 'open' prison. I cannot believe we are housing drug dealers in open prisons and expecting them to stay put. Presuming that the decision to house him there was made by at least a tribunal - that makes 3 folk with limited common sense making decisions that fail to protect the public and in particular fail to protect the young. All the families that are victims of this persons vile trade must feel completely let down, it is no wonder that ever more folk will now feel so unprotected that they chose to protect themselves and their families whatever the consequences. I think that the balance of liberalism has swung much too far towards the perpetrators - it is high time that victims are allowed their human rights to trump any rights of offenders.
  13. I cannot believe how many of you even bothered looking when the OP has 7 posts - but then that is what scam sites rely on, the gullible and those that do not pay attention not having a go here but please be a bit more careful folks
  14. One thing is absolutely certain in law, if you pull the trigger you are wholely responsible for any consequence. It is the same as a lorry driver having an unsecure load, even if he/she did not load and 'secure' it.
  15. as I load a bag of 250 carts into the truck again I often question my sanity, I think I should take a leaf out of JDogs book and run out but then I do not get the chance to go that often so I suppose travelling in hope has become the norm. The memorable shots are what keeps us going back time after time
  16. If 20 rounds a couple or three times a year on range days can damage the rifling on any modern hunting rifle I would very much like to see the proof and not just written conjecture as I have never seen any evidence of this. Nor are there any warnings included with new modern rifles even remotely suggesting this might be the case. As a manufacturer you would not last long if this were to happen. Target shooting is a completely different world where you can easily create 20 years wear in a barrel in a year using rounds near the limit.
  17. my mrs is under the firm belief that I have dried in the walkway at the side of my garage in order to store bbq's bikes etc. She is right, as always. It is obviously not going to be used for skinning moulting deer.
  18. why? A 14 x 1 is a well known thread and you would be very unlucky if a protector was not long enough Go here https://www.bushwear.co.uk/products/rifle-cap-thread-protector-14x1-black sign up for the free delivery code and one will only cost you 3.99 - that is what I did for my Sako
  19. if you are load testing 20 rounds in 45 minutes is not at all excessive, nor unusual, personally I would buy an all metal moderator though. I have had my shotgun too hot to touch on several occasions, all simulated game days, even with a leather glove on and a leather/metal barrel protector. It probably was around 200 C or more which would be high enough to melt plastic.
  20. upstairs or downstairs? we had a child lock mechanism on our upstairs windows, you lifted up the bottom bar in a specific position and then the window opened fully.
  21. Being a well practised ostrich I manage to avoid most 'news' as I do not like gossip much nor trials by media so forgive me for being a bit behind the times regarding these folk who have been given far too much confusing information regarding whether they are male, female or something else. It appears that fully functional male rapists are able to simply say they are female and be transferred to a female prison - insert your own tirade of unprintable swear words here As GR would say "&%^&$)_* unbelievable"
  22. Your tulips look better than mine - the &%^£ munties have had half of them already, technically the grass verge they are planted in is council owned so we just have to put up with a lesser display.
