  1. I'm delighted to say my boy (just turned 16) has spent his childhood in the workshop with me and is very hands on. There isn't much he can't do and all of it is with old machines. We joke that he's the youngest thing in the workshop! He now runs his own successful blacksmithing business and has bought old/ancient machines and serviced them himself and brought them back to life to use. He is probably the only person under 40yrs of age who knows what a shaper is! He has nothing but contempt for the throwaway attitude of his generation and the poor quality of modern items. Makes me feel good knowing he has the skills to get by with.
  2. Welcome from another newbie!
  3. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ the good thing I'm finding with these computer things is you can switch them off and everyone goes away!๐Ÿ˜œ
  4. Shooter from Kent with far too many bits and pieces..... According to the wife!

  5. Many thanks to all for the welcomes, you all seem to be friendly....so far.๐Ÿ˜‰
  6. This does concern me. They are chipping away the gun shooting/collecting community when in fact almost anything can be used to kill or assault someone. I for one don't fancy the sharp end of a knitting needle or being clubbed by a frozen leg of lamb. As someone who has a penchant for old guns this is quite irksome but I am also very aware of how relatively easy it is to obtain obsolete ammunition which brings these guns back into service, not to mention how readily available reloading equipment is for some of them. As I have a gun room rather than a cabinet my security is already in place and I am able to continue displaying my collection. The government are I'm afraid damned if they do and damned if they don't.
  7. Many thanks for the welcome Tightchoke and Farmboy91. I'm looking forward to having a good look around๐Ÿ‘
  8. Selling guns!.... Is that actually a thing?๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  9. A nice haul! I love the Winchester 9410 I use mine for squirrel and rats. Also have one on a section 1 loaded with slug for foxes. There is definitely some grin factor to using them.
  10. Hi all, Cider is my poison. I had permission this year to ravage an orchard and we made just shy of 100 gallons, way up on the 30 odd last year.๐Ÿป The wife and I have made loads of country wines over the years. Blackberry is a good one, Rhubarb too! Nettle on the other hand is not fit for human consumption!
  11. I'll have you know I've had need of their services on more than one occasion and won't have a word said against them! Fine bunch, make good tea but could provide better biscuits.
  12. Hi all, I'm Chris from Hythe, Kent nestled down next to the Romney Marsh. I've been shooting my whole life. Developed an unsettling addiction to lever action shotguns over the years but still favour my old Greener GP over all else. Bit of an old curmudgeon and favour the fields over people, thought I'd see if humans are more tolerable at the other end of this electrical thing!
  13. Nice! I've got a couple of unopened boxes of these. Also got the gun and have resisted temptation for years. I also found these lurking in the back of the cupboard.
