  1. To revoke someone’s license because their son who didn’t live with them was convicted of some minor offences seems harsh to me. personaly I would feel hard done by and would be gutted about loosing my ticket and probably my permissions. i don’t know the ins and outs but I think the op is taking it very well considering. hope it gets sorted soon?
  2. It definitely sounds like a grudge, if not you have to worry about what sort of person who owns a fire arms acts like that. On my permission We have had trouble with poachers which is why we try and keep hare numbers down. But even that is explainable . Slaughtering 15 deer is just bizarre .
  3. That's a good point about knocking an add on. A dedicated isn't as delicate and far less of a faff to use. However an add on is far easier to switch from day to night time shooting. I switch between day and night scopes on my hmr ( a hawke vantage and a photon xt) but they do need a zero check which isn't ideal so realistic ly you'd have to be going out day or night shooting . I'm in the same boat as the op at the mo for my 243 I want to shoot at night but don't want to spend more than £500. I don't want to take the photon off the hmr because re zeroing a 243 gets expensive and I don't have weaver rails on the t3 so I'd have to put the photon in the optilocs which takes time. So think I will go add on, the ward addon looks good. in saying all of this I guess I could put a weaver rail on the t3 and use some quality quick release mounts for the day scope/ photon.
  4. For your budget i’d Get a Yukon photon with a doubler because your current scope won’t work with an add on (at a guess)
  5. My t bolt will now group well within an inch at 100 yards with Hornady . I had a bit of trouble but think I have figured it out now. i lightened the trigger, made the barrel completely free floating but filing away some of the composit stock and I put a pull through down it after every box of 50. i think the free floating bit is the most important as since I've done this I'm now getting some touching groups.
  6. one bloke was driving and the other was hanging out of the window scanning for eye shine with the photon. We crawled along slowly and viewing from the photon wasn't a problem. I know the are safety issues around scanning through a night site mounted to a rifle but if the rifle is unloaded until you take a shot it's perfectly safe. We have also found that using a spotter just delays things and sometimes you can miss an opportunity when switching between spotter and rifle. we have now invested in a roof mounted spotter system so we'll see how that goes.
  7. Let’s be honest the hmr is one of the most versatile calibres on the market. If i’m Only taking out one rifle on s night out it’s the hmr. I’m sure some have had bad rifles but then i’m Sure some haven’t given it enough time . You really need to have a rifle for a year before you get to know it before you make your mind up in my opinion . Yes it’s not as consistent as a centre fire but its a boat load cheaper to run and it’s certainly safer. The only quarry you can’t take is a deer so within its own limits it covers all bases. It’s a shame there are so many critics because i’m Out once or twice a week and never feel under gunned or at a disadvantage if I have the hmr.
  8. I zero at 100 yards mainly because I have a hawke scope with an hmr ret but 110 yards is also a handy zero . Never had an issue with hornady max in over 400 rounds .
  9. It certainly does the job and like you said for the money it’s thought to beat
  10. Sounds like your adapter has come off the scope slightly causing miss alignment . The only other thing could be a whack to the scope /barrel. If it’s an air rifle then maybe check your air gauge, could be a leak.
  11. I’ve got a sak on my hmr and the noise isn’t that horrific . Keep toying with the idea of getting a fancy over barrel mod but the price is heavy and from what i’Ve read the difference isn’t that great so will probably spend the money on ammo instead.
  12. I've had bot 22 lr and hmr for just over a year and I told myself at the time that I would get rid of one . I still can't think of a valid reason to get rid of either so they are both staying.
  13. Took my b525 pigeon/ rough shooting yesterday and although I'm not precious about my guns I'm going to look for a pump or semi with a plastic stock as hunting guns get a bashing and re loading in a hide would be easier. Was looking at the Winchester sxp or franchi affinity. good luck with the tx1 , wish they were out when I was granted my licence ?
  14. I've shimmed a couple of rifles and all have held zero and none have damaged the scope. I still use some of these scopes and they are years old. has anyone got personal experience that it damages scopes or ******* your zero?
  15. I can’t see how putting shims in your mounts would damage your scope and i’ll Continue to do so in mine because personally I have never damaged a scope by putting shims in.
  16. How is a scope damaged by putting a few layers of electrical tape on the bottom half of the mount?
  17. I do it all the time, nothing wrong with it
  18. If it won't adjust down anymore then pack the back scope mount. I use electrical tape and put layers in until I get the adjustment I need. Usually three layers should bring you plenty of adjustment. try to cut the pieces to the exact size of the bottom half of the mount so there's no over hang, it works for me
  19. Would you consider selling just the rifle with the original stock?
  20. If youre On a budget the kofs range is good value
  21. Rumour has it that they’ll be around the £500 mark
  22. I think 9 mag is good to 60 yards as you need a bit of precision . I also use 6.5 mag at night using the photon.
