  1. Thanks for that just spoke to Thomas jacks. they said that it should work with a good led ir and not to use a laser. They also said to spend a bit of time setting it up using all three focusing controls, only knew about the two obvious one and didn't think about the brightness setting . so I'll persevere because it always takes a while to set things up. just set up the stream Vision and its pretty cool:) tbinkni
  2. Had a look on there but couldn't find anything much about this product . It was mostly people raving about some blokes spotter which looked all well and good but it looked bulky and less covert that a monocular. i'm sure that I can get a better picture out of bit when I get used to it.
  3. Just bough the above and as there isn't a huge amount about them thought I'd pass on a bit of first hand experience. So with this combo - Bad Took me ages to get a decent picture, the onboard ir is useless past 30 yards. The picture is not as clear as the photon xt , so a bit grainy. This could possibly be remedied with more ir and more messing about but I doubt it as tried it with my t20. The ledray is not as good as the t20 Blacksun but it's still good enough and its smaller profile makes it easier to fit to the side of the monocular with the standard weaver rail. good despite the picture it is still good enough to pick up a rabbit at 150 yards, a badger easily at 100 yards and roe deer at 100 yards also. So really considering this I think it would pick up a fox at 200 yards no problem and possibly beyond. It's also a handy size and silent in operation with loads of features if that's your thing (video recording, streaming, 6.5 to 13 X zoom etc) with easy controls . So all in all I would of expected the picture to be on par with the photon xt but at £300 not including ir it's not bad as its going to do everything I need it to do, which is spot rabbits and foxes to allow me to get the rifle on them and not get in the way.
  4. Just spotted these on the hawke website . Available for the sidewinder and frontier with new rets. Ignore the prices on the hawke website as they are far cheaper on Soleware but not available at uttings yet. Just thought I'd post incase anyone is interested
  5. The only problem with the cz is that everyone has one so I went for a t bolt to be different:) plus you can't get a 455 in a left handed action. the only thing I would say about the t bolt , especially with a composit stock is that they need a bit of weight added and the trigger needs adjusting because it's too heavy out of the box. however this is an easy fix and I have sorted the trigger myself for free and put lead in the stock, problem solved. the t bolt is quicker and less of a faff to cycle than the cz and if you are shooting from a truck its more instinctive. The choice is yours at the end of the day though
  6. Ok thanks chaps, so you reckon that I could apply for fac air even though I haven't purchased a 223 yet?
  7. A few months ago I asked for 243 and 223 and got both. now having purchased a 243 I really can't see a need for 223. i also want to get rid of one rimfire calibre and get fac air in its place. the feo told me on granting the centrefires that he wants to see me using them. in your humble opinions do you think he'll be ***** off with me if I send in another variation at the end of the summer?
  8. Are those the first focal plane scopes? They look good, have you tried them?
  9. I looked through a lower end vantage recently and was quite surprised at how clear they were. Might have a look at the model you have because I think 12 x would be enough.
  10. After owning mine for a year I have come to the conclusion that 9x is not enough for longer range shots so I'm looking for a new scope with more power. i've been looking at everything from £150 to £300 but can't decide which would be suitable. sommy question is what would you guys recommend given my budget?
  11. That's answered that question very comprehensively , thank you much obliged .
  12. Ok cheers lads , does the 243 mod work ok on the 223? also can a p12 baffle stack be added?
  13. Just wondered if anyone knew what I would need to buy to turn my 243 p8 mod into one I could use on a 223. it would be the exact same rifle so presuming just the diffuser?
  14. Another vote for the t3 lite, the varmint may be too heavy for walking around.
  15. I thought it was strange but there you go. i was told to reapply for it at a later date. I just think that they won't grant too many slots on your application. the really strange thing is that I now have slots for 223 and 243
  16. Browning is less thumpy than the berreta but there's no real difference. I went for the browning because it fitted me better and the entry level wood looks nicer ?
  17. I don't see a huge difference between the two in sub 12 but I shoot .177 ans .22 at rabbits a lot. the 22 has a tendency to flatten them more than the 177 and give more margin for error within its point blank range. however the 177 will quite easily take them out to 50 yards but I believe pellet design is more important with 177 in terms of knock down power. It's my belief that a softer pellet with a bigger tendency to Deform on impact or a heavy pellet work best.
  18. I put in for 22lr, fac air and hmr. I didn't get fac air. This was because I already had sub 12 air and it was my first application but also because I couldn't provide a good enough reason. my advice would be to put in for all three and have good reason for all three and you're bound to get something. my reasons for example would be .22 lr - daytime ground game hmr - long range corvid control fac air - control of ground game at night with night vision dont mention that fac air/ hmr are safer because they ricochet less and don't eat that fac air is safe to shoot into trees.
  19. Ok thanks chaps, looks like a new gun might be the better option ..... what a shame ?
  20. I have two t bolts in the calibres that you have. Good choice mate, I like the stainless bling:). There is always a place for both hmr and lr but the hmr can be loud which is why I'm switching the Nv back to the 22 for use around footpaths and houses. the trigger mod mentioned above is easy to do and well worth it, give me a shout if you want to know how to do it. mine are both composit sporter s, does the laminated stock have a higher cheek Combe that the composit stock?
  21. Don't suppose anyone knows how much new barrels would cost on there on?
  22. I have a sporter with 30 inch barrels and I was wonder if you can buy different length barrels and fit them to the same action if the mood takes you?
  23. I have a sporter with 30 inch barrels and I was wonder if you can buy different length barrels and fit them to the same action if the mood takes you?
  24. I went with a tikka t3 lite in 243 with a synthetic stock. it was accurate out of the box with a nice action and a good trigger. The only bad thing is that the stock is too low in the Combe with high mounts so I'll be raising the comb or getting a custom stock. i haven't tried any others but I know a good rifle from a bad one so my advice would be to spend good money on something that you won't need to upgrade. Theres a reason why tikka are popular.
