I hope them rats where head shots at just 1000 yards? I showed a gun round the shoot a few weeks ago he was after a syndicate gun for next season. I asked why he was not happy on the shoot he was on is answer was I only shoot game in the head and other guns where nicking is birds to take home. So he started putting pink bows on there becks so they wouldn’t take is birds as all the other guns new is birds where just head shots and best for the oven. I ask what do you shoot to just hit them in the head the answer 12g 1/4 1/2 choke number 7 shot. with that I dropped in back at is car and said this shoot is not for you mate.

Shoot up date, We took delivery of the first 1800 birds on Sunday not as well-grown as last years poults look a week to ten days younger to me but good poults and doing good, they have come a week earlier than we booked them but we were ready for there arrival. We have 1700 birds next Sunday coming and 1500 more the week after. It’s working well with myself and reg doing morning feed and checks with Al doing the nights. The cover crops have now sprung in to life and you can see them growing with the sunflowers and maize a good 2 to 3ft The kale is getting battered by cabbage white butterfly’s so we might need to get some spray as it’s getting hammered. The millet took an age to germinate but now doing well it just didn’t like the wet weather we had in May and June ( should have sowed it last year in the drought????) We have all the IBC tanks dotted about round the shoot so we have water in all the cover crops and feed rides in the woods. We are also introducing grit trays for them this year as we didn’t do this last year and they liked to visit the road so we are trying to give them 5* board this year. Just 13 weeks 3 days and the season starts for are shoot again. kind regards, steve,

Go on game shooting opportunities on Facebook. You will find loads of small syndicate shoots round Shropshire for very little money.

Any brassica seed is best broadcasted. The combines have broadcast sowers on them when they combined and sow the rape at the same time then they just roll in.
-
Sow millet between rows of maize when maize is up. This is brilliant for the birds but you have to get your rake out and do by hand. Miss a row every two. Millet seed is cheap and easy to grow. For a windbreak use kale but make sure it’s treated for Flea-beetle.

You lads have nothing to worry about. Defra will issue licenses to all farms and land owners with CPH and SBI numbers. Which is pretty much all of them.

In content 5 reply on behalf of an organisation. can we not Express all bullet points with one reply from PW members. This would show professionalism and the backing that comes from pigeon watch members. This would stand out then and would be more likely to be read in depth than loads of individual emails. -
I think you missed the most important one the Duke of Westminster

Well old’en he’s got nothing in there premonting is zoo in the Isle of Wight. The zoo’s tripadvisor reviews are not the best with ripoff prices animal welfare how animals are kept. But one thing that gets me is what dose he feed them all on. Loads of big cats, birds of prey, snakes, he must have them on a veggie diet.

Sorry got it now.👍

So wot your saying is every spring crop let the pigeons get on with it. Every field of peas barley wheat beans just let them destroy it. Game birds don’t do this. I wouldn’t won’t you looking after my crops.
