  1. +1 for the Timex, great watch and have had mine for donkeys years, no problems just the odd battery. Now largely use a Fitbit, rechargeable and keep an eye on my exercise. I have a number of posh watches, Garrard, omega seamaster and a 1940’s Lord Elgin.
  2. Straight is stronger if you have all your weight on it as I do picking up on the hill.
  3. In my experience Remington best but I am not convinced it makes any difference. Others will doubtless set me straight.
  4. It is probably worth going back a stage as she is just being immature. She is obviously coming in okay so that is the big plus. I would sit on the ground, give her a retrieve and call her in. Make a fuss of her but don’t take the dummy and just get her used to being with you holding the dummy. Give say ten or twenty seconds and then whilst still making a fuss give the dead command and hopefully she will release. Take it and then give it back with the hold command same again and see how it goes. If you can crack that do it with a standing retrieve, same again. You are trying to achieve a security that giving up the dummy isn’t the end of it. Sometimes giving an immediate retrieve works, as does offering a treat but it can result in spitting the retrieve out which you don’t want. One of the things I do to avoid this developing is teach my dogs to put their nose into my palm whenever they come to me. This is the basis of a good delivery and you could perhaps try this even at this relatively late age. Hope it goes well, good luck.
  5. Trouble with wood tops is they Can break across the grain if you give them a whack. I stick to horn for my working sticks.
  6. Yep plus 1 wood anemones usually about bluebell time so makes a wonderful sight if you catch both out
  7. I built one for my last L200. Just started from scratch with a wooden frame, ply wood base and plywood drawers. Worked perfectly well but for my new L200 I just went straight to a Transk9 box and did away with the draws as I need to accommodate four labs. All my clutter just goes down the sides.
  8. Interesting the negative comments as I have never had an issue. I wonder if it depends on your local team.
  9. It is almost impossible to get away from rust on the shore it is just a fact of life. You just have to clean the guns meticulously. Oil in my experience does not guarantee rust free. I tend use something thicker, for example Barbour coat wax can be used on outside metal parts. I use it on my cartridge heads for longevity.
  10. Sorry to hear that I have only ever dropped mine off.
  11. Yep, hospitalised in early January. Stayed in a hotel over NewYear with a large party of Asian nationals. Wife was very ill for a few days with cough and raging temperature. I had all the symptoms with low oxygen levels and difficulty breathing. Rushed into hospital with pneumonia but of course they weren’t testing then. Also had liver problems. Took me two months to recover but now feeling fine. Waiting for the antibody tests in due course but still not taking any risks! If Boris feels like I did he best take a few weeks recovering at least.
  12. Intelligent discussion, what site do you think this is.😂
  13. When I can finally get out testing I will be trying to collect as many wads as I can for inspection. I will be loading both ten and twelve bores in this way so will let everyone know the results in due course.
  14. I am just working on these using an inverted cup over the powder for better obturation. I have used my standard plaswad powder charge as a start. Just can’t get out to test and say how they perform.
  15. I wonder if this is the advice they have been given nationally as our local nursery is applying the same rules.
  16. The Highlanders were made by B Rizzini can’t speak for the lowlanders
  17. I am SWScotland unfortunately. Would have to get it sent up if there is any chance in due course.
  18. Nice job I am just fitting a percussion case from scratch, and not as good as your job. Looking for mahogany for a lid.
  19. I have kept a diary since 1982 and recorded every fishing and shooting trip since. Now just starting my fourth volume and had a hell of a job finding a proper heavily bound Minute Book. With the lockdown it has only a couple of entries but I hope to have enough time left in my sporting life to fill this as well. It is not just memories but has been a good reference when fishing as to which flies where at any particular time of the year and of course what the geese are doing and when. if anyone is just starting their sporting life I highly recommend this but it is a labour of love to keep at it.
  20. I am in the same boat. Trying to find some 5mm or so mahogany for lids.
  21. Had two L200s and very happy.
