Hi all
I am just in the process of buying an FAC .22 FX impact for my longer shots, I am constantly pushed my sub 12 BSA CLX ultra out to 75yrd kills with my Arken Zulus scope on but I don't want to push any further, so I'm buying an FX, I expect to be shooting the FX at around 50 ft-lb to so I can get kill shots out to around 100yrds,
Cheers parko
Impact will do 100 with ease but like always the person behind the trigger is the weakest link
Mk11 impact .25 110 & 115 yards 5 shot groups

Well done mate, there not half twitchy though when there scratting around for bits.
@Sciurus has just beaten me to it, it's obviously regional, but also your only shooting November to March, which means there's a years worth of squirrels to go at, I don't doubt it helps the song birds where you are in spring, but there's no chance we could just leave the greys to there own ideas till November, there wouldn't be any reds left, we're out every month in some seriously testing terrain, if the feed isn't better than what they can find then you won't guarantee that they'll come for it, which means you'll have a lot of blank sessions which is waisted time.
I follow a group on FB from Herefordshire and the fella there only uses wheat, some of his feeders hold 80kg, I've seen pictures of them being filled from a JCB bucket 😳😳 nice woodland where he is out 7 days a week on lots of feeders, but he's shooting very few at the moment because there not on the feed 😳
When your ground looks like this, then pulling in squirrels takes high energy feed.
I shot 5 yesterday, 2 & 3 all at feeders, the picture above has an open feeder and a closed one, even the birds don't really eat the wheat, they chuck it around looking for the good bits, which the pheasant do eat ( I've got 100s of images of them doing just this 🙈)
I even found one in a tree, which looked like someone's dog had had it.
This feeder had peanuts and sunflower seeds in it.
I tried to restrict the feed but it wasn't flowing and just sat getting damp because everything is just saturated at the moment, but I opened up the lid again, made the back more sloped and its been emptied in days, so that will get a camera up this week for shooting next Wednesday.
I can only shoot between November & March because it a caravan & camping park with 300 acres of woodland which is open to the caravan / camping public in those times

Arken Zulus but for ratting wait for a few weeks when 3-12 comes out . You can buy 940 or pill to go in them as well .
Also the multi spectrum scope is coming very shortly Day , night vision & thermal

People say this, but I know if I put wheat out it will just sit there, I've done it in feeders when I know I can't get out for a while and it just sits untouched.
It would save us a fortune in feed costs.
Well I shoot around 250 from the 1st November 31 march all with wheat in 9 different feeders

These scopes are a game changer 👍🏻

Yes when there is plenty of natural food about then wheat is second best but come mid November they are on it

Well done 👏
You did well getting 4 if there's only wheat to draw them in, I don't care what anyone says wheat and maize just don't do it if there's other options.
Glad you got out though 👍
Wheat has always worked for me . Normally shoot at least ten in couple of hours each time I go

It has 4-16-44 on the box

Brilliant, Guys, thank you.
It has to be said that my memory/brain is slowly but surely shutting down, but you woke it up for a few minutes. Also, the AGF guy has it. It has to be the heavy superior liner. I don't hold out much hope but will see if I can negotiate having the rifle supplied with just that one liner. You can't alter a constant, the barrel diameter is fixed and there's a limit to your velocity so when you've topped out your only choice for any given slug is the barrel twist rate.
I think you find in new guns the liner will shoot slugs and pellets

Something to consider is the BC I don't think it matters in sub 12, I just shoot what's accurate and kills well.
But a fella on Agf posted about shooting long range FAC last week, this fella makes his own slugs and definitely knows what he's talking about. He said he's stuck with .22 because while you can get high energy with .25 you can use longer .22 pellets or slugs which give better balance + BC.
I wouldn't have even known an air rifle could shoot accurately at that range.
BC .25 is. Better than a .22

Nice but I still prefer walnut stock , proper wood

Cheers.
With what rifle is that? It sounds a bit much at c70ftlbs for the Crown. Mind you, I won't complain if it is the Crown, but I was realistically expecting something around the 50+ mark dependent upon the choice of pellet/slug.
That is with my .25 impact sniper 700 mm barrel
-
Shooting my .25 @ 970-980 fps with 33 gr still getting about 60ish shots per fill . Slugs are the way to go after 100 yards or so . Yes they can bounce, but most slugs have a nice big cavity which helps to deform nicely. . Even pellets will bounce around as well , I say more so than most slugs

Looking for 223 which one ?

hi folks,if there is already a discussion on this post the link..anyone bought the tikka t1x .22lr?if so what do you think of it...how accurate do you find it..what ammo do you use,im torn between the tikka and the cz 457,opinions welcome, thanks
I have t1x 17 HMR and CZ 457 .22
Cz 457 is so accurate with most ammo at 100 yards . Use Norma subs and eley subs . If I had my choice again in 17 HMR then I definitely would go CZ

I have Frontier, Airmax x 2 and Vantage. Not perfect but all pretty damn good. Am in the hands of Devon and Cornwall Constab' and Crackshot at the moment and have the scope but no rifle - no real rush and can't be fussed to switch things around - and am more interested in the accuracy/functioning of the FFP than the general quality which I'm aware of.
Cheers.
I have the exact one just don’t no why more don’t use ffp scopes 🤷🏻♂️ . Works absolutely perfect , great if you use something like a pard 007

Get the best you can afford . It also depends if your going to use it rabbit shooting , if so you will need something to spot out to 100 or so yards

IF
in Airgunners
To me it would be my FAC.22 crown which will shoot slugs at 950 fps . 18 gr pellet @ 925 fps , 16gr pellet from 570 - 900 fps just by adjusting one power wheel and all this can be done in seconds including adjusting scope
I do have all set ups mapped out

Ideal for changing circumstances like shooting elevated into trees or in barns and buildings. Then if out in open push power up. Can use slugs to pellets. You’d need to map your scope to each power setting and projectile.
Totally spot on

Crown , the new wildcat & maverick all easy adjustable. Just make sure you take not of factory settings, so if needed you can go back to them .
I have impact .25 & crown .22 both FAC both have been tuned by Airfective by installing heavy hammer weight and showing me how to tune it .That was 5 years ago and both still perfect plus I tune it for different slugs and pellets, with out touching the reg at all , imo you don’t need to . Reg on the impact 130 bar & crown 155 bar
I can take the crown from 42 fpe down to sub 12 using slugs , pellets & the wheel with in seconds including adjusting the scope
impact from 80fpe down 45 fpe using slugs , pellets

I am finding 15.9 hades are better at that speed . I need about 950 fps to shoot 18 gr in my crown

Hi
If you may need to rely on warranty do check if it is to the original owner, with original receipt etc. or transferable.
On other Forums seems some people were not helped by Hawke...........just saying.
Leupold, Bushnell, Vortex, Minox? et al seem to hold the 'lifetime-warranty' no questions asked.
L
Never heard a bad thing said about hawke. Had a airmax scope which was at least 12 years old went wrong , never had a receipt but offered me a new one for half price
-
On the thermal Facebook page they rave about them & they sell them for £300 or the T3 for £450 which are very good
-
Might be a bit of dirt in the fill port or valve . Had it with mine stripped it down good clean then regressed , perfect again
