  1. Even if they are good which is debatable. You are still packed like sardines. Someone coughs behind you and you get it before the filters can play their part. However it's not only that, planes surfaces are well known to be extremely dirty. However if you could eliminate some of the flight risk, then it's the queues getting on and off, security queues and passport control. I honestly cant think of a more unsafe activity than the experience of flying.
  2. A brit who is stranded in Spain and a neighbour of mine out there keeps in touch. Latest rumour is that country will be closed to tourists from UK till October. However if I could get over then I would think twice. No way going on a plane while this virus is still out there and no cure or vaccine.
  3. Also guys while we are on the subject. Anyone know the approx years of manufacture of the models 800 3800 38 Thanks
  4. I use ryanair a lot to go over to Spain, I have already lost 2 sets of flights that I paid for which were cancelled. The first lot, they offered me a refund, but never paid a thing to me so far. Now they are only offering credit notes as far as I know. Talking to others, they are also offering credit notes to them for lost flights. Knowing that little snake o,Leary, he will build up a massive credit note back log, then wind the company up. This will enable him to wipe slate clean debt wise. Get all his leased planes back on better financial terms. Re employ most of his staff on worse contracts and employment terms. Ok it's a wild guess, but knowing ryanair I would not bet against it.
  5. TC this got me thinking a little wider on this subject. As far as I remember with the Brexit process many companies moved their head offices to Ireland to keep in the EU. I really hope when some of these get out the begging bowl, which will inevitably happen, they are told to foxtrot oscar and go and ask the Irish government.
  6. As far as ryanair are concerned, it's up to the Irish and their European mates to bail them out. Also as far as I am aware ryanair have all their planes on lease so if they go down they will make a massive problem for someone else.

Last update I heard was the W.H.O wanted to get involved in the investigation process, but China were refusing access and blocking collaboration. Things may have changed over the last day or so. However if correct such action by China is fuel to this theory of laboratory virus outbreak

  9. We are a very highly populated country with a massive movement of people in and out from every corner of the world. New Zealand is in a quiet corner of the globe with nothing like the international movement. I strongly suspect that when the news of this virus first started to appear, a small amount of cases were already embedded and growing rapidly in the UK. I think whatever action we took we would always be'fire fighting' . One thing is for sure one thing we are not short of is hindsight experts !
  10. After posting above I just checked evolution website they have some offers on of 4 pairs from £40 to £60 . You cant go wrong at that in my opinion.
  11. Yes I had them but did not rate poor and flimsy. Evolution are far better and not much more expensive, also they have cheap offers on from time to time. I also got a set of glasses with for separate lenses for half the price of Jack Pyle but better quality. Crazy fire was the brand and bought off Amazon.
  12. Konor, I am 67years old and as long as I remember there has always been a bit of banter between England and Scotland. However I am also a Yorkshire man and the banter has never been anything more than Yorkshire and Lancashire. However since her and Salmond came on the scene the banter has been ramped up several levels. As English all we hear from her is snide remarks and derogatory comments. This is deliberate to create a dislike for her and on a wider scale Scotland. At the same time she address the Scots differently and drip feeds falsehoods to give the illusion that every problem out there is caused by the English. She is an evil dangerous bitch that is deliberately and slowly building up the hatred between us to drive us apart. Some of the more enlightened Scots have already woken up and realised the poison she is peddling in order to satisfy her own warped agenda. So Konor open your eyes and see how you are being manipulated.
  13. According to wiki England population is 53 million, Scotland is 5.3million is there anyway you could be getting things the wrong way around. Should this read little Scotland mentality. No offence intended, only asking.
  14. There is only one person responsible for developing this rift. Wee Jimmy has an obsessive hatred of England and all her actions and decisions are based on this. She would willingly do things that hurt Scotland provided they give greater pain to England. The sad thing is that many scotts have been listening so long to her poisonous bile and have been taken in by her hatred
  15. See the swiss government have now lifted covid restrictions on many activities and massage parlours are being allowed to return to business. I wonder if any PW members have experience of such establishments, if so how can they implement social distancing methods ?
  16. There are so many pros and cons to face mask use so I think it's down to the individual and that is where the decision should be left . As far as wee Jimmy is concerned she was also asked on the Andrew Marr show shortly after her face mask announcement ,if closing the border with England was a consideration. She replied, she did not have the power to do so . Tells you all you need to know about her.
  17. Not surprised in the slightest, plenty od beaches around the world where you see naked germans, they cant wait to flash their tackle.
  18. Yes there is no doubt about it, some serious financial pain is to come ! I dont think a single massive wealth tax alone would sort it. I think we will get one but it will also be accompanied with large general tax rises. Another way would be to let inflation rise to erode the value of the debt. I also think NHS spending will remain very high for a considerable time, because the public will now see this as a government priority.
  19. I have a holiday home in Spain. I was out there when this started to get serious and got out OK. However some of my friends and neighbours got stuck out there and dont know when they can get back. They have not told me of any Brits dying. However if you think our lockdown is hard it is nothing what they have had go put up with ,its extremely draconian. What they have told me many people have had 600 euro fines for breaking the lockdown. One bloke got one for going to a supermarket that was about 400yards further away from the nearest one to his home.
  20. Reading between lines ! may be !, probably ! someones interpretation may be different to someone else. In other words it's a load of long winded guff that says absolutely nothing. As far as I read it before getting bored, not one single factual statement. Not having a go at you directly Henry, but in my opinion I really cant see the point of of such a vague unfactual document.
  21. In fact re R value, back on 30th March ,Sir Patrick Vallence covered it at length in press conference.
  22. Sorry to disappoint but the explanation of the R value and the target to reduce it to has been mentioned and discussed weeks ago on the press conferences. Nothing new in that. As far as the Scottish document is concerned I started to read it but lost the will to live. Its says a lot but means absolutely nothing , all generalisations but no specifics. I conceed they may be mentioned later on before I stopped reading.
  23. Certainly gives food for thought. Now I am only speculating, I would assume the government have some simple facts and statistics in respect of the backgrounds of these fatalities. If that is the case, taking away the unfortunate ones with other serious conditions, they will have a good idea of the percentage of these who were involved in some form of work capacity during the lockdown. If that is an high percentage, then I am sure they would try and keep it quiet . My opion is that most of these infections are, because i find it hard to believe that if you stick rigidly to the guidelines how the infection rate would be stubbornly remain so high after lockdown
  24. Be interesting if they relaxed measures before England. Particularly if they allowed shooting to resume on a controlled basis. Gun in the car, then tally ho ! The clay grounds could be swamped by a sassenach invasion
  25. I think the government are afraid of giving an inch and the public taking a mile. I also think having three different 'governments' on our small island is stupid (that's a wider argument). Let's say either one of them eases restrictions and others dont , the result would be chaotic. I therefore think the government will keep things as they are for sometime and allow the public to push the boundaries. If this causes a reverse of the virus and numbers start to build, it let's the government off the hook . If things keep steady then no problem a blind eye will be turned.
