  1. any ideas about the best way to decoy with a facing wind ? i know its less than ideal but occasionallydue to locasions or cover etc ive come up against this , without much success.any suggestions, i would be grateful.
  2. i agree entirely with both replies ,and would add to the point of lifting out of the car . i had a lab pup a few years ago . i let it jump out of the car ,several visits to the vets and x rays later , luckily only minor tissue damage and has since made a cracking dog. but lesson learnt. .......dont rush the dog let it develop before working it too hard and dont rush it , concentrate on the basics
  3. dont try to over train him. go for the basics , heal ,sit ,stay etc especially as you say he has started to chase. Retrieving and unfortunately, chasing are natural instincts to the dog ,walking at heal etc is not. sort these first and the rest should follow but dont rush it . a few weeks or months without a retrieve wont harm. and definately dont show the dog a gun or shot game untill you are sure he is steady to your voice or whistle.
  4. hate to disagree, but have found steel to kill just as effectively as lead.slightly more leed is required because of the tighter pattern.at the end of the day its each to his own, and you must try the alternatives and make you own decisions from your own experiences
  5. have been using steel ,since the lead ban and have been very impressed .the pattern is very uniform much more so than lead. kill to cartridge ratio is about the same .would definately recommend you give it a try...... i belong a wildfowling club and the majority have come to the same opinion.
