  1. Thanks. Builth - aka Llanfair ym Muallt ๐Ÿ™‚ - is a fair bit away, I'm near the Pembs border. Were you at the show?
  2. Well, I've got one and am very pleased with it. British - or maybe Norfolkian - engineering at its best. ๐Ÿ™‚ Many thanks to @deny essex . ๐Ÿ‘
  3. Ha! I just tried reading a Shona news website, I could get the gist but was really struggling with the detail. I didn't have any friends from the lowveld, but do remember a couple of rather nice blonde girls, sisters, from somewhere near Fort Vic, they used to play in polocrosse tournaments... Right, enough delaying, the rain will be passed soon and I've got to get out and check the sheep... it has been pis*ing down here! Cheers.
  4. Friends all over the place, family were in Harare, Umtali and Midlands. I spent time working west of Kadoma and Chegutu, beef maize and tobacco, nearly thirty years ago now... (bl**dy hell, it's pretty awful when you start thinking in decades like that). Most of my lot left after the invasions got violent, a couple of cousins more or less back now but their families stay down south. My Shona - Zezuru - was pretty good, would need a fair bit of work to be so now, I was listening to three guys in London a few years ago and had to work very hard to keep up. I Lived in Tanzania for a few years in the 2000s and I think my Shona got corrupted by using Kiswaheli - being Bantu there are a lot of similarities, and if I think of anything African now it's usually in Swaheli.
  5. Thanks all. Are you from Zim? I'd friends and family out there and was there for a fair bit myself. If so, where from and when did you gap it? @Jongwe
  6. Are you just gloating, or offering it for sale? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for the info' Ditchman - no chance of a return to production?
  7. Recognised that. No, I was seeking a manual flapper, just looked in at the Brexit section in passing to see how it compares to TFF. I had a pretty long dispute with one fellow (I wasn't the first), who then had another with a Mod and then did leave after being revealed as a bit of a fraud. But, as for the others I disagree with about Brexit on TFF, we still 'like' each other's posts in other threads and topics. Of course I and they care very strongly about the issue, but if you can't take criticism and opposing views, well, you should head back to the nursery. Agreed.
  8. Hello all, I am trying to get hold of a Ditchman manual flapper - sadly he has stopped making them (maybe to see the value increase due rarity, before releasing hidden stocks... ๐Ÿคจ). I had a manual flapper when I was a lad, but it's long lost now, my boys are starting to shoot now and I'd like one for them to use. If anyone has a spare or unwanted one please let me know and we'll come to a mutually satisfactory arrangement. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hmm... I am brand new on this forum, being a regular on The Farming Forum, but have come over here for some advice*. Imagine my surprise and 'delight' ๐Ÿ™„ to find a Brexit thread over here too; bl**dy hell, I thought we farmers had the monopoly on arguing amongst ourselves, but I was wrong. Looking at the comments I'd be surprised if there aren't a few lurking on here from TFF, on both sides of the argument, but with different avatars - mine is the same, and I'm pro-Brexit, but I'm deep enough in discussions over there to want to avoid putting anyone's back up over here - plus it takes up too much time... Just out of interest, and this is apolitical, has anyone stormed off in a sulk from here? We have had a couple do that, which is remarkable when you think about it. Regards to all. * Not about Brexit
  10. Hello all, just signed up to the forum. I'm a livestock farmer in West Wales, a keen but occasional shooter and fisher and will be introducing my boys to shooting this winter.
