  1. It's migratory pink-footed goose. Of the total number of the harvest geese. probably 70% of this is shot in Denmark, and 25% in Norway as I remember it. Norway may use bigger shots and lead than Denmark The migration is from Svalbart to Norway / Sweden through Denmark, Germany and Holland. Can anyone tell me why the link does not work You can read more about this here: http://pinkfootedgoose.aewa.info/species_action_plan
  2. Hehe,,, well It is the ethical recommended distance, not the law.. fortunately. In Denmark, most hunters use Decoys and Calls to bring the geese in close Yes... I would love to have, #B and BBs in steel. That would be good. But... the other greenorganisations is against that, because they believe we will shoot too long distance and thus wing two many. In Denmark. I believe this is the reason and argument to keep it the way it is. We have as hunteres worked hard to reduce gees with hail in there body. If we did not get these numbers down we would lose or reduce violently in the hunt of geese back in the 1990s. Quote: from a survey that is done on a regular basis In April 2016, 351 short-hauled geese were captured in three days' catch with cannon-net. X-rays that reveal whether the birds have hail in the body after hunting showed that among the young birds who only experienced one hunting season, 4 out of 100 subjects (4%) had hail in the body. Among the older birds, 45 out of 251 (17%) had hail in the body. This is a slight decrease compared to 2015, when a similar catch found hail among 6% of the young and 19% of the older birds (the difference is, however, not statistically significant). However, in comparison to the 1990s, this is a marked decline, since there were then hail in the body in 25% of the young and 36% of the older birds. Quote
  3. That 12/76 28 gram 500 m/s Yes I have, and 3/4. Did´t work well for me, it is some years a go, and don´t have a picture of it. These to is from two years a go, in a friends Beretta A400 extreme with original choke. My best results is with max speed 485 m/s V2. Then it starts to spread out... So I ditched this load several years a go. 34 gram og 36 gram loads is reloaded by me... And yes they are tested Could not find that 34 gram with #2 but with #3. Choke Beretta extended Full
  4. I agree .. smallest I use is steel # 5 Mostly number 4 ore 3 to ducks My favorite is a 12/70, 30 gram steel, # 4, 475 m / s .. But still with plastic wad. For small dabbling ducks, Crows and wood pigion. I would like it with fiber cups ... and it will probably come with a little more testing. For Gees I use 12/76, 34 gram steel, # 2, 475 m/s V2 or 36 gram steel #1 470 m/s V2. For Diving ducks (Sea duck hunting with decoys) 12/76, 34 gram #3 or 2, 475 m/s V2 These loads, we need with biodegradable wads, Also the big ones in 12/89 with 40+ gram steel. A very popular shell in Denmark is 12/76, 28 grams, 500 m / s. Produced by Kent, Kent Fasteel super speed. and a similar from GamBore Jaguar hunting steel But not easy to keep a good pattern. It's too fast. I have tested many times in different weapons and chokes, with # 4 The result usually looks like this. Test distance 25 and 35 meters, it is fast a pattern brake up. And It's not good in my eyes.
  5. Good to hear Keep up your good work. Let us know when you have done some chrono tests
  6. Similarly to the Danish conditions Recommended shooting distances in Denmark by the ethical rules. To reduce the number of winged it is important that you know the recommended maximum shooting distances for. If you stick to these recommendations, fewer pieces will be deceived: Row deer: Max. 20 meters Fox and goose: Max. 25 meters Other species: Max. 30 meters Shooting distances only apply in the most favorable situation, such as side or tip shots. In other situations the shooting distance must be reduced. This card is for the Danish conditions Allowed in Denmark: Biggest caliber is 12 and biggest shot, # 1 (4 mm) Lead is not allowed. Recommended shotsize, Loads, shot number in a 75 cm circle for steel shot. Distance 35 meters.
  7. Well I´m a bit inspired by Tom Roster and his work. Tom was in charge of the CONCEP (Cooperative North Amarican Shotgunning Education Program). Tom has developed a method of specimen shooting based on wildlife exploration on practical hunting, with non-toxic shot. (Steel, tungsten and bismuth) For several years, Tom has built up a large knowledge, about non-toxic shots killing ability. There are no fewer than 16.000 ducks and geese, 225 turkeys and 600 pheasants, where the shooting distance is measured by distance meter. Then the game is autopsized and x-ray photographed to find the cause of death. In addition, Tom has tested 75,000 lead, steel, tungsten and bismuth cartridges to find out which cartridges are best and most effective for a given hunting form.
  8. Hi Diss4111 Thanks for the information, and load data. Think it needs a little more work, The bedst pattern is your 24 grams, # 4 can work, but # 1 need som work. Did you slidt your shot cup ? I´m looking forward to the spring, so i can get out testing som more.
  9. Diss4111 do you have som more information. Speed ? Distance ? Choke ? Gun ? Try make a cirkel where you have the most pattern inside a 75 cm cirkel. Count the patten in the cirkel and i in the shell.. Then you kan get pattern in procent. Like this. 12/76, 36 gram steel, #1, 470 m/s V2, distance 35 meter. (Tube 43 wad) Not Biodegradable wad Beretta A391 optima
  10. Hi, Thanks... Do you have a link to that inverted card cup, would like to read and se more.
  11. Sorry... forgot to write the testgun, Remington 870, barrel is not backbore, I bellive the barrel diameter is 0.730" The original charge is about 15 years old. I use Tube 43 indsted of VP65. and only 35 grains Aliant steel now with a newer lot number. the speed is testet to 485 m/s V2. testgun Remington 870
  12. I have not testet pattern yet, to cold and wet outside for that 😊 Kent Biowad and GameBore Regal, have bin used for hunting in Denmark for som years, and they are doing all right for small game. 28 gram, shotsize 5 steel.
  13. We need greater loads and higher speeds. 32 - 40 plus grams of steel with speeds up to 480 m / s My test whith fiber shotcup from Clay Game. Basically In this original charge. 12-70 32 grams 481m / s 795 bar caliber: 12/70 case type: cheddite, plastic used, black gold primer: CX2000 shot: 32 grams of steel shot size: # 3 (3.5mm) wad: VP65 crimping: 6-star and roll crimp test powder: 37 grains Steel Alliant Velocities distance: 1.2 meter Test with Biowad from Clays & Game 12/70 - 32 grams Cheditte shell Cx 2000 primer Biowad 38 mm Waxed Nitro Card 3 mm 32 grams of steel 35 grain Aliant Steel Speed: 349 - 379 - 389 m / s 12/70 - 32 grams Cheditte shell Cx 2000 primer Biowad 38 mm Waxed Nitro Card 3 mm 32 grams of steel 37 grain Aliant Steel Speed: about 400 m / s 12/76 - 34 grams Cheditte shell Cx 2000 primer Biowad 38 mm Waxed Nitro Card 3 mm 34 grams of steel 38 grain Aliant Steel Speed: 388 - 389 m / s 12/76 - 34 grams Cheditte shell Cx 2000 primer Biowad 38 mm Waxed Nitro Card 3 mm X 2 34 grams of steel 40 grain Aliant Steel Speed: 405 - 403 - 410 m / s Charging with biowad from GameBore 38 mm + plastic disc from tube 43 (the cylinder cut off) Cheddite shell new, 12/70 Primer: CX2000 Wad fiber from GameBore; 38 mm + plastic disc from tubo 43. Shot: 32 grams # 4 Aliant Steel: 35 grain. Speed Test: 453 - 469 - 450 m / s V2 (This looks a lot better) Test gun: Remington 870 I don´t know the pressure When I lay my observation with fiber wad there is a desrobted out side along with the speed difference. Then I'm quite convinced that the 4 mm waxed nitro card is not close enough
  14. Hi forum, I'm a Danish realoder and have tested a little with this fiber shotcup from Clay & Game. The Danish government has just arrived with a plastic policy, ending with plastic wads in shotshells. There is no date of entry into force. As quality, performance and safety are to be further developed with biodegradable wads. I have done a small test with some of the cartridges on the Danish market. The results can be seen in this link. Most cartridges are with light loads of 28 grams, # 5 A single is with 32 grams. Common to them is that the speed is from below 400 - 435 m / s Danish hunting law. Minimum 400 m / s for steel shot used for hunting. No lead, Biggest pellets shot no. 1 (4 mm) hope that it will work with copy below link to your browser https://strandoghavjagt.dk/forum/tema-hastighedstest-og-kvalitetstjek-af-haglpatroner/580-mini-test-af-patroner-med-nedbrydelige-forladninger-september-2018-af-chc Tjek this link, sorry it is not in english, but use google translate Hmm, the alive link does not work.
