  2. An open fire to me is one of the most amazing places to be after a day outside with a drink in your hand but having said that I've just recently got a multi-fuel stove and the heat generated is more than an open fire and looks pretty good and is somewhat more economical to run, I look at it like burning fivers rather than tenners as use a coal/log combo which gives off way more heat
  3. You need to soak brillo pads in hot water and squeeze the pink stuff out ( the cheaper brand pretend brillo ain't as good ) and clean sink as normal then once clean and really dry put a touch and I mean a touch of baby oil on some blue paper towel and polish
  4. I've always found talking to a dog gives you the best answer
  5. I've can't believe like others I've just seen this thread and think I'm pretty active so maybe the format of the frontpage and in particular the 5 topic headers on the right let articles of interest pass which may not engage members. An app to download would definitely catch younger members Another thought is there aren't many 'active' shooters; I know a couple high-end gents that go through 1,000's of carts a year on game, a few that buy carts in 1,000's for clays but yet most just get an odd box from a mate or go halves on a slab for beaters days etc which would suggest most shooters don't really shoot much thus got nowt to say.
  6. VLC Media Player is your 1st stop mate
  7. IMHO I think the powder loses it's umph which will be your problem but there are some more clever type people of here
  8. Unsure legally but they are a powerful lot so if there was good reason then absolutely yes they can and if in the mood take the guns and you away for good measure
  9. Hope they don't turn our lecky off so we better handle the French carefully in the short term

My Mrs renewed mine when I was away once and got it upside down. . . . I still get ripped about it and it was several years ago
  12. Have you not heard of equity release for the over 50's lol
  13. I sometimes have to remind myself it's only inheritance money so if I don't enjoy spending it someone else will for sure but I agree it's a colossal % increase
  14. Well done, I do see certain acts of real kindness that stop me in my tracks at times and this is a perfect example. I watched an absolutely fantastic Sean Connery film called Finding Forester years ago and one of his phrases has stuck with me. . . . An unexpected gift at an unexpected time
  15. IMHO I feel the subject has been made overly complicated to increase the sales of new and improved carts that has key words stamped on them; ie: high, extreme etc If you simply want to know which cart to use then simply try a few different ones until you find one that suits you and your gun as in the real world stats mean nothing ( it's how you hit the target ) and please take that as a genuine helpful point of view
  16. I thought the same when I heard the news the other day. . . . . . . so put another free log on the fire, poured myself a scotch and somehow forgot about it
  17. As a point of interest for you, last season I had to use a 2wd VW Golf estate for my shoot bus for myself, a mate and the dogs so car was going to be full so with this dilemma spoke to a few tyre type people and ended up going for Yokohama BluEarth AW21 on the front 2 drive wheels I have to admit I had issues with ground clearance, so some reversing and taking a slightly different line and didn't make it everywhere; again because of ground clearance but never got stuck which is todays Obviously the main roads/motorways were a great ride and virtually no tyre noise and handling in wet was perfect as for general driving in the summer there were no issues
  18. I've just seen the news and was astounded by the fact the one of the several reasons the cost of living is sky high in their calculations along with an increase in gas, electric, petrol etc was AIR TRAVEL Now I know I'm older and grumpier than our future politicians but when did air travel become a necessity rather than a luxury? I wonder if we can add shooting it to our household expenses as a genuine cost rather than a pleasurable pastime
  19. I used to live close to there years ago but a little further south and our trips were across to the Solway firth and stay and have a couple of days but the woodcock/snipe where your going to live is top banana or used to be so not the end of the world to get yourself out
  20. But, maybe you can kill longer range crows as they are pretty clever and usually stay at distance! May I ask which gun you are looking at and as above what is your go to cartridge?

  22. Any dashboard warning light results in a failed MOT Is it safe, no-one knows for sure but I wouldn't have a problem if it was my car
  23. I just don't get it, the price differences on this thread alone are massive, so must be the local water companies. Just up the road we have a fair bit of water........ the lake district
