  1. It has you Henry - a precious natural resource!
  2. Firstly, 7daysinaweek - all the very best of luck and I hope the tests come back negative. Second, my mother in law has been in hospital since end of Feb, having broken her hip. Three weeks ago, she tested +ive for Corona but asymptomatic. 7 days later she was released back into a general ward. She was due to go home last Saturday but her care home said they wouldn't allow her back unless the hospital re-tested. Lo and behold it came back +ive again. Either someone at the hospital has ballsed up or the testing regime is up the Kyber. Worrying. I was admitted myself last Tuesday, diagnosed with diabtetes. Interestingly, I was admitted via A&E at Shrewsbury. There were just two other people there and in the Acute Medical Unit there was a hole unit full of doctors and nurses with just me to look after - no-one else at all. Proof, as if proof needed that people aren't utilising the health service currently.

    MOT

There is no reason why a test cant be done, only if you or someone you live with is vulnerable. Nowhere on the Gov.UK website does it say MOTs cant be done.

    MOT

My son's garage is open for MOT. All very well the gov saying extend by 6 months. Just because they say that, does that automatically make cars safe? I doubt it.

    Lockdown

I fully agree with the sentiment - its just not right. Then again, in this weather I tend to wear T-shirts. Not sure that at 63 yrs old, that's right either......

The guy who shouts "are you going to resign minister" and such things died overnight. Known as Gobby to his mates. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52224513
  7. In some instances, whether you think a film "carp" or "great" really depends on your age. When they were teenagers, my boys watched a favourite of mine with me and deemed it bloody awful. I love it. The Ghost Train starring Arthur Askey......
  8. Have had similar issues myself. Cured by soaking overnight minimum. Makes a huge difference.
  9. I agree wholeheartedly. My recent experiences of BA are that they are no better than the budget airlines. At the end of Feb I had to travel to Atlanta and Virgin is/was the only airline to fly Manchester/ATL direct, so booked with them. Wow, what a difference - cabin crew laughing and joking as we boarded and service throughout the flight (Prem Econ) was superb. Couldn't have asked for more. Its true that many non-European airlines offer even better but the Virgin experience pleasantly surprised me. After the crisis, competition will likely be fierce and those that up their game will benefit, as I hope, we do too.
  10. Its weird - we are seeing similar things here. Maybe the scabs who emptied the shelves have no more storage space, ran out of money or have died. If it carries on like this, the biggest issue will be maintenance of the supply chain. Otherwise, common sense seems to be holding up, in the main.
  11. "Any last requests?" "I suppose a **** is out of the question?"
  12. I really wish I did but I'm sorry as the only ideas I have would involve doing time. These people are detestable and should be either locked up for good or be euthanised. I feel so sorry for you mate and really wish you eventually get an outcome that leaves you able to live a peaceful life.
  13. One of my most favourite songs. The Kinks original was clever but Kate's version is very atmospheric.
  14. I'm an emotional bloke and music often really "gets" me. Sorry to sound so cissy. But Kate Rusby's voice gets me more than most. Beautiful...…….🥵
  15. Likely there'll be a family from around here in trouble too, in the not too distant. A BIG wedding took place at the hall close to where I live yesterday. Dozens of cars and a couple of fancy buses have gone past my back garden on their way to the hall yesterday. You cant tell me they all stayed a metre away from each other during the proceedings. People don't "have to get married" anymore, so why couldn't they postpone. And how come the venue chose to ignore our glorious leader's advice?
  16. I am fed up of hearing of a so-called distribution problem. There's nothing in the shops. And if it is being grabbed by dole-wallahs and/or social reprobates then bring half a dozen squaddies into each store, inside and out and enforce society's will. Forcibly. But such sensible logic doesn't work on a sizeable proportion of our population. We need to begin a harsh regime and make examples of these scabs.
  17. And there was me thinking there are no aircraft in the sky...…… This from Flightradar24 a minute or two ago.
  18. I was looking at a team photo of my old rugby club, taken c.1976. We all looked so thin. Even the front row would pass for being underweight today. Most (but certainly not all of us) didn't work behind desks and generally of course, there weren't the choices we have today such as a wide range of takeaways. At 63 years old I still go to the gym - well, until the virus closed it down - I walk 2 miles with the dog twice a day, every day; try to eat sensibly and still I struggle to keep my waistline in check. Cant help but think its not just sedentary lifestyles that's making the general population obese. As they say, something in the air.....? (Or the vino and whisky).

This. What drives the cynical profit-driven greed of corporations is the general trend amongst the western populace of wanting more and more without thinking through the consequences. Values have changed and not for the better in my view. The banks didn't wreck the economy last time, we did.
  20. I tend to agree with you Henry and maybe mother nature doing her stuff might be a good thing for the human race after all. I'd much rather the population be thinned out this way than by way of a world war, as suggested by some. That really would signal the end is nigh - for ALL of us.
  21. Which is why its time to get rid of the "should" "ought to" instructions from gov't and replace them with "you will" and "you must". This is too great an emergency to be nice about it. BoJo has to stop worrying about his popularity. His hero Churchill rarely did.
  22. No doubt about it - those Honda engines seem to know the secret to eternal youth. I sold my sit-on when we down sixed a few years back but it survived a chronic lack of attention for 13 years before that and the only thing I ever had to do was to change the plugs. Brilliant engines.
