  1. Hi,could i have the British Gunmakers please?
  2. I understand you visiting for a particular gun but I would say it would not be worth the 8 hour round trip. the show is a shadow of its former self, unfortunately. The aisles in the halls are a lot further apart than normal and some of the large central ones are taken up by Land Rovers!! I know the cost of stands has put some traders off. There certainly wasn't anything for classic rifle fans like myself. Had I not had the free ticket from BASC, it would have been an expensive let down.
  3. Lots of 16 bore cartridges in auction at Stroud in May
  4. I would take the box the cartridges were in, if it is still available, back to the shop so they can feed back to the factory
  5. Not the same as my Beretta, tried that
  6. A good friend recently purchased an old Lanber over/under but it didn't come with a choke key - anyone got one sitting around??
  7. Keep an eye out on auction sites, usually quite a bit of non 12 bore stuff
  8. This was mentioned quite a lot last year following a number of instances on MoD ranges involving home loads. Our club secretary worked for many years making ammunition for BAE Systems and he runs an excellent course for club members. I think the guidance the NRA issues is actually based on his course. A lot of people are saying who would be prepared to sign a certificate saying you're a competent reloader - what they would actually be signing would be a certificate stating on a certain date, you attended a course that discussed the theory and practical aspects of reloading fullbore ammunition. If you have a car crash twenty years after taking your test, your original driving instructor and test examiner are not held liable so why should this be any different? I know Gardners Guns do reloading courses where you receive a LANTRA certificate.
  9. Hannams are expecting a Viht order in April. Hopefully!!
  10. It doesn't really take much to believe your local gun shop is cheaper than Just Cartridges! I think everywhere I look at cartridges is cheaper than JC!!
  11. I heard a fellow shooter complain a certain cartridge was too smokey when I was shooting PSG. I asked if he was using black powder cartridges as I haven't seen a cartridge yet that produced sufficient smoke to obscure a static target sitting on the ground 10 metres away!!!
  12. I have two Fortis jackets and they do a really nice smock which I would have had but I just find it a pain putting them on/off. Another plus point is they are a British company and make their products in Devon.
  13. I have a DPT over barrel one on my 308 and it's very good. A friend was adamant he wanted a Stallon - first time he cleaned it, it looked like there was a chunk missing from inside. It got returned to suppliers who came back and said it was fine but he's lost all faith in it/
  14. The Gamebore HiTech are from the late 80s. They did an all red version for clays, I have a full box of those. The all new fully plastic case was meant to be the way forward but it never took off. I think it was a company called Activ that made them.
  15. I have always thought Just Cartridges have been the most expensive. When I bought some clay cartridges earlier in the year, JC were £32 per 1000 more expensive than a local gun shop. It really annoys me when they say there's no money in cartridges - simple maths says JC are making £32 extra profit over and above what my local shop was making.
  16. Number 9s are usually a skeet cartridge
  17. Tier One scope rings, for 40mm diameter scope. High mounts. Part number T1PIC40H. In good condition, used on a target rifle. As you can see in the picture, they originally cost £125, would now cost you £150. Grab a bargain at £65 including postage. Advertised elsewhere.
  18. Dauntsey Guns have some in stock according to their website
  19. The importers are Westlander and when my RFD looked, the prices weren't any cheaper than more readily available brands
  20. What has happened to the open end of the three cases from the left??? The cases look very waxy, like a candle.
  21. Where have you been for the last few years!!!!😁 There has been the perfect storm - elections in the US - apparently 5 million NEW gun owners. Now if each one of them wanted just 100 rounds that is an additional requirement for 500 million rounds that wasn't there previously. The bullet and primer manufacturers cannot keep up with demand from the ammunition manufacturers. Then Covid came along and shut plants down for a period of time. Once they reopened they had reduced staff levels so the output was lower. On the European front, Sellier and Bellot stopped exporting primers as they needed them to make their own ammunition which was experiencing an increase in demand. There also happens to be a war going on which is using resources from all over the globe. Shipping rates have gone up considerably too. I know one of the main importers and distributors has not had a full order from the US in over 2 years. I am also hearing importers say when primers are gone, there will be no more until 2024. Same with some powders from US.
