    Lost Lives

It’s simply the worst thing imaginable. I’m with you buddy. I lost my daughter 02-Sep-19, she was 18, died after contracting glandular fever. I watched the whole thing happen in front of me stood in casualty in utter disbelief. The funeral was terrible, I felt I was going out of my mind. If I didn’t have other children and a wife to look after, I wouldn’t be here now. The grief is unbearable but we have to endure and keep going for the other ones in our lives.
  2. I worked a shift rota, 3 days 6am-6pm followed by a swing shift then onto nights 6pm-6am for 18 years. I have Also done periods of permanent nights when away on ops, one of which was for 8 months without any time off. As a young man it was a breeze even though the work for us (aircraft tech) is physically demanding. As I got older I began to struggle with nights because I couldn’t sleep in the day which mean I was going onto shift exhausted and it took its toll so I moved onto permanent days. It took about 18 months to get a regular sleeping pattern back and even now I still wake at 2am and can’t get off to sleep again. If YOU can sleep well in the day, nights are brilliant, less day shift idiots to deal with. Hope that helps buddy👍
  3. 1534 KG.....you need some big powerful arms to swing that gun!
  4. I was amazed by the service to be honest. When it failed to work out of the box I was raging, I know some people can afford to spend significantly higher sums on guns , 1.8k to me represents a lot of money and I expected it to work. I was getting ready for the usual, return to importers, wait 6 weeks and hopefully it will return without damage routine, but not in this case.
  5. New gun day today for my pal and I, we had ordered two Fabarm Elos allsports after the gun show. Picked them up this morning with big exited smiles and off to the range, my pals operated flawlessly, mine did not! It failed to fire the top barrel multiple times, but when selected to top first, both would function as normal. To say I was a tad unimpressed was an understatement so I rang Fabarm directly and spoke to a gent who apologised and asked me if he could speak with my RFD. What followed was simply the best customer service I have ever experienced with any company I have ever dealt with. The in house armourer was dispatched immediately from Anglo Italian arms and arrived about 70 minutes later at the range. He stripped the gun whilst I watched and showed me a minor adjustment that was required. It was then fully rebuilt, tested and handed back to me with a huge apology and a free gunslip (£70) for the inconvenience caused. Whilst I appreciate that the fault shouldn’t have occurred in the first place, the remedial actions were beyond reproach.
  6. We have one of those in my town, he has a rating of 1/5 stars. I can understand someone having a kebab after 12 pints of strongbow, but stone cold sober...not a chance.
  7. Did your dad pick one up in .410? I had a look at one which came with extended chokes at the show, I think Francis Lovell was selling it, but by the time I had pondered it had gone.
  8. Now not sold as buyer has not bothered to turn up. Please PM me if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking👍
  9. Someone else may be getting a bargain as the buyer has has a week to turn up and has not bothered. I will give him until 4pm then I’m going to remove the sold.
  10. Brand ambassador!!! Don’t get me started on that nonsense. Long story short, a few years back my son and I were choosing him a nice watch for his 18th. The sales person genuinely thought that telling us Mr G Clooney wore this particular brand would somehow sway us/me into buying it. We didn’t buy it.
  11. I’m reaching the end of my career working for Her Majesty and I have started to feel a little past it, a point which was illustrated by one of my young subordinates this morning. Allegedly being a “social media influencer” is an actual job. I thought it was just a term for some work shy loser to sit at home on facetube all day. I mistakenly thought an actual job was where you went to an actual place of work and contributed in some way and received remuneration in return for your efforts. How wrong was I....
  12. I have had several affinities and with the exception of one, they have all been faultless. Getting extra bits for them can be an issue, but the basics like extended bolt handles/chokes is relatively easy. I’m not sure about how it would fair for PSG as I don’t do it myself, but a mate does and he rates his M2SP very highly. If your in Shropshire at any point your welcome to have a go on one of my affinities. Best Of luck with the search.
  13. Absolutely amazing that it has drifted for that length of time.
  14. Someone remembered the lesson on corrosion! It bored me to death. For some reason I can still remember Y=MX+C, that helped me many times when changing an engine in some far away sandy place😂
  15. I sent my wave back to leatherman, it was absolutely battered. I contacted them via the website and returned it for repair. Took about 4 weeks but it came back like new.
  16. This ^^^ I went out last Tuesday with a couple of pals to do 100 birds. My buddy has an old MK70 which he has used day in/out for donkeys years choked to super full/super full. He is a keeper/grounds man and started shooting at about 8 with his dads .410. He dusted 92/100 then to add insult to injury mentioned he hadn’t shot clays for about 5 years.
  17. My neighbors had exactly the same problem. It cost £850 for the entire roof to be done and came with a 25 year guarantee.
  18. I used to work with a bloke who’s Mrs worked for the EA some years back. We were at a formal function and over polite pre lunch drinks/conversation one of the group asked her if she knew why the river 7 had not been dredged as it was flooding every year and his home was effected. The response, people should move away from rivers as dredging damages the river bed and harms animals that live in it. That put his mind at rest. Couldn’t make it up!
  19. They were happy for people to drop the guns off themselves and have a coffee whilst the service was done.
  20. I’m selling this gun, it’s mint condition as it’s only had 25 carts though it from new. Please PM for images, it’s the black polymer stock version. As the advert states, I’m selling it to teach my son a lesson that the bank of dad has run dry and if he wants a motorbike he has to sell things to fund it. Thanks for looking👍
  21. We arrived at 09.10 yesterday, none of us were looking to buy guns. Having looked around the show most of the dealers had “sale” signs up, upon closer inspection the “sale” prices were RRP. I could not see any guns in my price range 0-3k that were bargains and a lot of the 2nd hand guns were battered but that’s not to say the mid to high end guns were not cheaper, I just don’t really know the prices as I can’t afford them. One of us did manage to drop onto an XLR5 velocity in good nick for £695, which is about £300 cheaper than any on gun trader.
  22. Yes they have the classis on display, it looked lovely. They are situated on the edge of the guerini stand, only 1 display of guns but very helpful people indeed. Fair point, I didn’t realise GMK offered that. £50 for a 10 year warranty is pretty faultless.
  23. Had a good look around the shooting show today at all the stands, some bargains to be had, some rip off merchants but the surprise of the day came from the fabarm stand. Once we had viewed all the guerini offerings that we couldn’t afford we had a look at fabarm. I have recently bought a axis RS12 which I really like and was chatting to a nice guy (who turned out to be the director) who informed us of the recent price drop accompanied by them adopting the guerini warranty package. In a nutshell you pay £210 at the three year point for a service and get 3 years warranty on everything but the wood, this can be done every three years for the life of the gun. Cracking deal.
