  1. True so you have to be sparing, spring gun's micro diesel as I'm sure you know, hence why you have to take into account the kind of grease you use in the cylinder.
  2. Old pellets I just use a bit 0f WD40 and tumble them in the tin with a bed of kitchen roll and swop the roll out a few times.
  3. Nice grain structure, I was going to post a pic of my 2200 magnum,,,, the stock and fore are wood grain plastic! think that would be a get my coat moment.
  4. I have shot guns around 15fps a tad harsh but still fairly good, springers take some mastering and I think I have a gun based on the 34 quite a wide and long cylinder so lock time can be long making the hold importancy more so, worth putting a bit of tape on the fore end so you position pretty much your hand in the same place every time, trigger hand keep your thumb middle of the stock the idea is to cradle not grip, and I use a sling on my springer it braces the gun very well without effecting the recoil in a poor way, stick with it if you can shoot a springer well you can shoot everything better they can be that hard to master!
  5. American Air gunner round table, on the tube, go through all the early episodes, the guys cover pretty much every aspect and interact well with each other, even if you have been around air guns for a long time a state side take on the subject is good viewing.
  6. Cab queen 😁! , the pepper stocks are very nice never had anything limited, but I do have guns that had a low run my carbine comes to mind or the 635 magnum, I guess it could be viewed as usable with maybe a future collectable value or just something a bit off from the norm, thing is, think of the guns you passed over only to want for one years later, would this be one of those? hard to call it is nice thou!
  7. I have had a long tom all the way to a modern BSA supersport and many BSA's in between, trigger wise all have been variations of good, my personal fav is my carbine supersport single stage, if you want shocking try a Milbro Cougar or Black major I have one and as standard its like lifting a 5lbs hammer with your trigger finger😁
  8. I like the older BSA's better but the Lightning is not bad and the supersport, I have both an old and new supersport the triggers are ok the stock's are heaver than older ones but the main action and barrels are good tho
  9. Some things to think on when we look at the 12 pound rule, its a target and small game/pest control rifle that in law can be used in the bounds of your own land that dose mean with good considerations your own back garden, how much energy would it carry if a target is missed and how much would be carried through small game? you need to think of it as a way to allow it to being open to more use than less as its there to cover a large spectrum of use in a land not of vast open area's, shooting at game both elevated and at ground with fairly good effective reach in mind, also for a long time many gun on the market have been spring guns there was a balance to be made between weight, power, accuracy and easy of use. so the trade off has been ease of ownership more use in more area's of land with a much lower level of law in place than may at first be considered.
  10. Don't know much about them, only handled one years ago I would say have a look, take many photo's and send them to some one willing and in the know to verify what it is, being rare has the problem of not having many out there to compare it to. sorry I could be no more helpful.
  11. Steel plate guns are ace little garden guns, I like to plink with my bobcat using 177 lead ball

    HW 97 advice

Just throwing out interesting things about how they work....thing is I am fascinated how a simple system is complicated.....also must be why I like women! But ok lets keep it simple, pull the trigger an twang, crack and if aimed right splat! maybe thud!.. 😁

    HW 97 advice

I kind of took it that a stronger spring just lets peak pressure transfer more/better due to less bounce back from the high pressure cushion at the cylinder wall?

    HW 97 advice

16 I would say is not too much for a springer it will of course have a harsher recoil impulse and load the parts more but if built for it, it should cope well enough and the German kit is heavy built, accuracy should still be good but hold sensitivity would I think be more so and stock creep more of a problem so you may have to fettle more, really be nice to try it first accuracy should be fine but you may loath the recoil.

Slower burn rate and lower peak pressure I guess for that kind of powder? its on my bucket list to try one prob's something that will never come to pass, maybe you could grace us with a picture of it one day?

I was thinking of the old solid slug 4 bores both smooth and rifled a "stopping rifle" as they say, what's it like to shoot they look to have one hell of a kick

Or its a sense of humour.. the net is for me not a place to be overly emotionally taken by, no offence was meant to any here. Or a 4 bore...I recall seeing one in a gun shop it was bloody massive.

  22. Agreed you have to like what it is, your right about the base of the gun being good, I have been researching, looks to have a Diana TO5 trigger system and the rest looks to be Diana 34-36 maybe 350 mag? or parts akin to those models the weight mainly come from the thick barrel and breach block love to know why yours seems just fine but mine was suffering creep right from the first shot
  23. I avoid the co2 stuff my mate has a load of them really not well put together, Umarex are just not what they should be, but at least this one looks to be based on a Diana spring system so not too bad, as for walt, well I have military in the blood and a fair number of connections over the years I'm sure one drastic plastic rep on the wall is OK 😁
  24. This is the problem a poorly supported cylinder/lower receiver screw it can move all over the place due to only being a threaded captive plate in the cylinder So the lower chassis can creep, the screw becomes angled and cracks the boss seen here, there's a hair line crack already, way too flimsy for a spring gun! Only one thing left to do, may as well do a full strip it's umarex! bound to be full of china's top grade engineering! Well so far I would say mainly good parts are; barrel, cylinder and the lock up between the two is fairly good, plastics thou not overly strong where they should be are well done, trigger single stage and good weight and when working grouped well at 10m down side; barrel lead in not well done, very sharp edges on cylinder, poor threads very bad alinement on some, pretty rough piston and damaged seal the locking clips on the fore grips damage the rails and that stock screw!
