  1. Not made my mind up yet. The main reason for applying for FAC is to assist in transportation of FAC rifles to/from to save my son keeping them at work. I already have permission in writing for shooting all calibres and the land has been passed prior. Black powder is just an idea I'm throwing around. First thing I'll do once I decide is talk to my RFD.
  2. The .22 is quieter, I can use it for other things and if I'm bothering to go the FAC route I can also get a black powder pistol and/or rifle which is on my bucket list.
  3. Its my understanding that this is where the term "Pull" comes from. They pulled the string connected to the top hat.
  4. Far too expensive initial purchase from what I've seen. But granted they would do the rats job easily, so does my .410 with 9gr.
  5. I love my wax jacket, also have a waistcoat. A fraction of the price of those silly overpriced designer names that only last the length of the jacket.
  6. Wow, 3 gallon tubs. I thought they came in little packets like crisps (Wot you call chips).
  7. Shocking ! No cheese balls🤣 Seriously, hope you fare well over there and there isn't a break down in law and order
  8. Yes I gather that, bit like those orange ones you get for a fiver on ebay. Used single handed should speed your reactions up somewhat?
  9. I've bought the above for the novelty value. Its obviously an old clay thrower. Anyone ever used or seen one, know anything about them?
  10. I always find the neater i put things away and the more space I make, the more 💩💩 I find to store making the original 💩 harder to find again so I buy more🤪
  11. Totally agree, little difference between rats and foxes, both are vermin and you can eat neither
  12. Interesting replies. My son doesn't live with me but we're talking to the senior Police firearms arms officer about joint access. Mostly to do with the legality of travel and transportation. I meet him after work to shoot. Currently I can only transport his shot and air guns. So he has to take a rifle to work. I can't even transport his ammunition without risking a jail sentence and loss of my licence. This and my desire to use some black powder is my main reason for reapplying for FAC. For the cost of a .22LR I think I'll go that route. I often take out rats round the barns with 9gr of .410. Always aware of whats around me as I can't afford to pay for damage caused by my negligence. Farmer is more than happy with the job I do and the care I take. 160 paces, I do 120 to 100 yards, so that's a damm good shot Sir. Well done. I'd be lucky to see that far 😃 I think anything up to that range should be reasonable though given the right conditions.
  13. My son has persuaded me to apply for my full FAC. This will be the first time I've held one since 98 and I'm a little out of touch. He owns, .22, 17HMR and. 243 all moderated,of which legally I will have access to, subject to the Police. I'm considering buying just the one moderated rifle and would like opinions on which to go for in either .22 or .17HMR. Mostly it will be used for rats, occasionally fox. I used to have unmoderated .22 years ago. One was a Henry Martini the other an old Enfield Number 8. I'm also applying for a black powder slot for pistol but thats something on my bucket list for later. Any opinions welcome please.
  14. Yup, I'm with you on that. I'm sick and tired of all this PC 💩 I've been fortunate throughout my life of never having worked anywhere that was PC. Although I understand HM Forces is now going that way. When I drove lorries or was employed as training officer that was never PC. Now retired I'm so un PC I'm real.
  15. I think they sell the poles you mean in Decathlon. I use guy ropes or bungees though, less to carry.
  16. What sort of waist size are the trousers please, XL means differant things to differant people.
  17. It has a fox engraved on the underside, very simple. Gun weighs about 7 1/2 lbs. Oh, and it's non ejector model. It's to be checked, then if OK, bored out to 1/4 1/4 before it goes on my licence.
  18. As above and pictures below. SBS, Single non selective trigger. Choked fixed at half and full. Vented rib, two beads, mid and end of barrels. Serial number stamped on, I belive after 1968 as before then they were made without serial numbers. Any information anyone can give would help, especially if you've owned one.
  19. Scottish and English law are differant, but its my belief, if that what he leaves isn't enough to pay his debts they can't come after the house unless she either sells or dies.
  20. Not that I know of, but presuming she's female then I'm not brave enough to argue.😁
  21. I can't believe you argued with your wife🤭🤐 Braver man than me.🤣🤣🤣
