  1. Looks good. Significantly cheaper than the Grenadier as well.
  2. Yes, that’s true, but Labour went nuts with PFI. The hospitals were also very badly built. Our local one had a wishing well for years from the leaking roof.
  3. The great PFI heist: The real story of how Britain's economy has been left high and dry by a doomed economic philosophy PFI debt for the British taxpayer is more than £300bn for infrastructure projects, with a value of £54.7bn. To put it into perspective, the PFI debt is four times the size of the budget deficit used to justify austerity (From the Independent, Bliar and Brown’s legacy) Labour worked out how to make themselves look good and leave the debt for others to sort out
  4. I’ve heard that they don’t like to cross a barrier of copper tape. No experience of this myself though.
  5. The wax in a pot in the Autoglym range is High Definition Wax. It’s harder to apply than the liquid ones though.
  6. You say the radio said “phone “ on it. I’ve had a transit flatten both batteries down to zero volts overnight and suspected that it hadn’t disconnected from my phone properly. It did it twice and I noticed another time that the radio had stayed on even when the van was locked. The radio was still searching for a phone. I don’t let my phone connect to it anymore and it hasn’t done it again. VWs may be completely different though.
  7. As above, he seems a very strange character. Like Gordon, I also started watching when I heard about the alleged vendetta against him. I gave up when he posted a rant against deer stalking even though it was obvious that he didn’t have a clue what he was talking about. I’m not a Jeremy Vine fan, but there’s an interview with him about AB on tonight’s Newsnight, BBC2 10:30.
  8. Thanks Activeviii for the update and Dave-G. TR1, I didn’t get a quote for a solid roof, but a guesstimate when I asked for a quote for an all glass one was an extra £6-7k for an insulated roof. That was for a 5x3m lean-to type.
  9. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1021668/Tony-Blair-took-300-000-mortgage-constituency-house-worth-just-150-000.html Not sure we could all have started a property empire with funding from the taxpayer though?
  10. Activeiii, I realise that it’s an old thread, but wondered how you got on with the glass roof. I’m looking at conservatories at the moment and really like the look of the glass ones. I’ve seen lots of comments over the years that they’re all too hot in summer and too cold in winter, but the new coatings that are available now seem to be improving things. Anyone else have experience of these new coatings on conservatory glass?
  11. I think that was Andrew Wakefield
  12. Signed, I’ve just watched the total go over 5,000.
  13. A documentary about them last year showed some horrific crashes. Lloyd, yes they are supposed to reduce congestion. Two of the main safety features- the distance between refuges and automatic detection of stationary vehicles were changed/ ignored. They were not approved in their current design and should not be allowed. As Scully says, the hard shoulder should be reinstated immediately.
  14. Google images “contrails ww2 dogfight “ Plenty of proof that contrails have stayed long after the plane had gone.
  15. My Audi A3 had a flashing glow plug light recently. Also went into limp-home mode. It was the EGR valve according to the code reader. The fault code was erased and the car had been ok for about 3 months. They aren't cheap and are a pain to get to.
  16. What age of microscope? I have a list of a few dealers in Scientific Instruments, but they seem to concentrate on the brass ones from the late 1800s/ early 1900s.
  17. Abbey Moly G-n paste. Molybdenum Disulphide, but thicker than grease. Designed for use in airguns, but good for other stuff too. Use sparingly though, could get sticky otherwise. I've used the dry slide that you refer to, however, when it had evaporated, there didn't seem to be enough left to do the job.
  18. I've been asked to do the same as you around horses. Using a moderated 223 in the field with horses, they couldn't care less. They were even coming up and sniffing my boots. The next time they were in the stable and they went nuts. We were asked not to go again! They are such unpredictable beasts that you have to take each situation individually. I would think that a 22lr would be OK, but I'd prefer it if the horses could see where the noise was coming from.
  19. Murder on the Orient Express and Erin Brockovich were great performances. I'd forgotten about "A Good Year" as well
  20. For Sale Altberg Defender boots, size 8M. With box, leaflet, spacers and spare laces. I normally take size 8-9 in boots, however I found these a bit tight hence they have had light use only. See pictures. Boots have only been waterproofed with the recommended Leder Gris. Slight damage to laces of one boot, although spares are included. £45 posted.
