hello, i am still looking into this hush power modding, can you say what model is the Baikal, did you buy already fitted/do yourself, cut/shorten barrel? it looks to have a rib ? what is the choke ?  i have an old BSA single 1980s with a high rib full choke and looking that this maybe suitable, cheers

It's a hatsan escort 12 bore with a saddlery and gun room moderator screwed into my choke.

I tried mine with normal carts and to be honest it wasn't good enough. But not a fair test so I will have to find some subsonics on line and retest

Yes you definitely need subsonic to avoid the supersonic crack.

Is it that quiet? I had a 410 on trial from a gun dealer a long time ago now and that had a similar size mod on it which did not make much reduction in noise. If it is that quiet I have a mate on here that will want one on his hatsan

It's difficult to describe on how quiet it is. I shot a pigeon yesterday while the farmer was standing 20yds away and he said that it was fine. Neither of us required hearing protection. It's a combination of the subsonic cartridge and moderator that gives the sound reduction. I think that it's the supersonic crack that travels so this combination eliminates that.

Has any one tried the moderators from hushpower and fitted on an existing gun? I sent them an email and apparently I can fit one on me hatsan semi or me old pump
Still at 180 quid not cheap. The reason I ask is I picked up a new duck perm and noise is an issue. So might sort some thing during the summer

Carts from malmo ? whats there deal on postage ?

No I bought them from Kirklees guns but they’re out of stock. Malmo doesn’t post. York guns do have some in stock though at the moment. I phoned them last week. I’m not sure whether they post but it’s a fantastic gun shop so well worth a visit

It does seem a lot of lead in a small case. Be interesting to try some. I would of thought the manufacturer must of tested some before production was started.

We are going to try and source some to trial in the chicken houses

I bought mine from Malmo guns in Lancaster. If you’re in the Holmfirth area anytime you’re welcome to a handful of the 24g Cheddites to try out

Sent my choke away tonight. Was surprised he said not to put steel through them though. So going to have to get a box or two the bismouth for the quackers. Be handy on the pigeons though save waking the farmer up

Excellent which choke did you send and for which gun?

Don't look at the cost - look at the saving in not buying a bespoke hush power 12g. You also don't have to squeeze an elephant gun into your cabinet .

Is it possible to get 32g subsonics? They may have bit higher pressure.

Yes these are subsonic and cycling perfectly in my Hatsan Escort

Hi all, just invested 210 pounds in a new Hushpower 12g sound moderator for my Beretta Urika 2, after much research on Utube and elsewhere I thought this would be the answer for me, some good shooting permission but very close to houses and chicken sheds, so noise was the problem.

The Saddle and Gun Room (Hushpower ) supplied the extended choke and fitted the moderator ready to just screw in and get shooting, advise was to use sub-sonic cartridges to get quietest noise levels, so I also purchased a slab of Eley sub's in fibre wad 28 gm 7-1/2,

Today I set up on the field and got ready for some good sport, but it was not to be, first shot the cartridge case jammed in the breech, after digging it out I checked the gun for free movement and cleanliness, no problems there, so reloaded and tried again, next shot same result, bolt was pulling the case back about 3/4 of its length and stopping, A sharp pull on the bolt and out it came sliding in the next cartridge, 3rd shot was just the same result,

My conclusion is that the load power is way too low to activate the mechanism correctly, a simple test with a normal clear pigeon confirmed the cycling was working normally, so now I have a very costly sound moderator designed for use with sub sonic's but a gun that is unable to cycle these cartridges, future tests will be made with some other cartridges to try to find one that will cycle but give me some noise reduction, any suggestions will be welcomed, meanwhile the pigeons go on clearing the rape undisturbed, ****** ****** ** *******!!!!!!

These are the answer ! They cycle in my Hatsan Escort with saddlery and gun room moderator attached

It's difficult to say how quiet it is when you're shooting. You'd need to stand near someone shooting one to really tell. When you tried the 410 moderator were you using subsonic cartridges as this can make a huge difference?

I have one on a Beretta auto makes for a very long gun! but very quiet with subsonic carts, they do not recycle the action, normal carts will.

Have you tried the Eley Hushpower 32g 5's? They cycle well in my hastan escort.

Yup .just screw it off and store away.

Obviously  you can screw in any other normal mod and your gun is as it was before totally unmoderated .

    Best of both worlds .

Though its worth having a slip on cheek riser to lift the eye a bit for when using the mod .

Yes its a brilliant modular approach. It allows you to shoot clays un-moderated one day and pigeons from a hide moderated the next day. And the Hatsan Escort is £260 (new) from my local RFD. So if you add £180 for the suppressor that's £440 for the whole set up.

Excuse the daft question. So I send them a choke and for want of a better word they weld it on the end of the choke so I can just screw it on and change it like a choke ? Also whats a v3 choke ?

Yes that's absolutely right. The V3 choke is just the latest version of the choke which Hatsan supply with the Escort.

    7 hours ago, captainhastings said:

Ok I like it. I have one of them. Plus it would still fit in me cabinet if i could just unscrew it.

I only fit the moderator when I get to wherever I'm shooting as it won't fit in any gun slip with the moderator attached. Also I always replace the moderator with a standard flush choke whenever I remove the moderator and before I put the gun back in the cabinet so that I don't inadvertently end up shooting the gun without a choke and damaging the choke threads.

My mate has one in 20 b on a hatsan semiauto .

But only has one choke to go with the mod .think its 3/4  .

Though its very quiet ..he uses any cart they all sound quiet enough .and at range there is no disernable sound difference between the loudest (at muzzle ) and the quietest .so he goes with the most effective  - as far as kills are concerned .

Keep an eye out for pellet clipping with that cylinder choke  .

The after market-sound moderators are not as quiet as the fully shrouded (and drilled) barrels as would be expected (I'd be interested to hear the difference between an after-market moderator and a bespoke one with the same cartridge. My aim is to lower the sound just enough to not require ear defenders. One thing that I have learned from shooting my moderated Adler/Stealth 410 is that subsonic cartridges make a huge difference. Some normal cartridges are also quiet but some are so load that you wouldn't think that it was moderated at all.

  13. Yes. You send whichever chokes you like to the saddlery and gun room and they make them off into moderator ends. £180 for one choke modifying and the actual moderator. Then £60 for additional chokes. I had full and cylinder done. I got them so that I don’t need ear defenders whilst pigeon shooting so that I can enjoy the sound of the countryside and hear any magpie chatter.
