  1. I have the browning a bolt in 243 as my first fox/deer rifle. secondhand and shoots priv 100gr less than an inch at just over 100m if i do my bit. had the trigger spring changed and a clean and polish by local gunsmith for a tenner and now shoots even better...just need to get out with it and get my homeloads started. I have a friend who swears by the remmington though, as someone else has said, he likes it because of the strong bolt action... My browning with t4 and doctor scope was about £500... atb
  2. happened down here a good few years ago at a local pub. Farmer shot at locals dog that was worrying sheep...local turned up at pub with chainsaw and cut table farmer was sat at in half.... farmer didnt quite get it as he already had plenty of kindling for his fire at home?!! ... no police involved [the good old days...] atb
  3. great result Pete!! and nice little rifle! atb
  4. ...nothing funny here!!! i am positive the guns wouldnt have been insecure here and also that if someone had their guns stolen whilst secure no one would make a fuss.... if anyone had left guns insecure then that would be another matter... dont think i have ever seen a post where someone has been slagged off for having their guns stolen [whether secure or not] but i could be wrong! atb
  5. hope they get them back!!! not what Tim or the staff need there having just moved....
  6. A good day was had by all... http://youtu.be/WBq0xuf5eVs atb
  7. I will say NO he wont get done, unless there is more to it than i have seen off the video regarding the amount of force used and any injury sustained. it may be a technical assault but it may also be justified as Mungler and Bagsy eluded to. atb
  8. Welcome from the west of the county!! atb
  9. Glad to hear Frenchie!!! No sadly George has gone now...he has been rpelaced by someone who has an active knowledge of firearms/shotguns from what i have heard. the feedback so far on the new FEO is very similar to that with George...common sense is applied by the FEO although some decisions still seem very strange as Frenchie has mentioned. the girls in the office have always been great with me too! atb
  10. I am thinking about getting a tablet PC. I will be using it to keep the daughter busy on trips with some easy games and videos etc, web surfing, email, mapping [not necessarily gps], photos, skype and reading documents. Anyone have one that they can recomend or warn off. I am looking at a 7" one, and getting a case with inbuilt keyboard. The 10" ones are just too big to easily carry for what I want. I have read up a bit about them but they all seem to have pros and cons. I dont know a great deal about makes or brands....Storage Solutions, MiScroll and Scroll are two that seem to be quite good, Viewsonic Viewpad 7 is another that seems like it could be a good buy. I would like Android 2.2 or 2.3, 256Mb+ of memory, not too bothered about sotrage memory as i will add an sd card to increase it. i would like a capacitance screen, and hd output. Hoping for no more than £150 or thereabouts. Anyone with any experience... atb
  11. my red tips do the same...two shots almost touching and one that is a good 1/2 to 3/4 inch flyer occasionally more...i am coming to the end of the red tips and have bought 50 winchester to try them next [they are the only other ones my closest shop sell] still ok, but doesnt inspire complete confidence!! atb
  12. Frenchie, i have had a similar thing with my HMR. from memory i zeroed at 36 yards, which, again from memory corresponded with another zero at 120 yards. Anyway zeroed at 36 fine, went out to 120 and was shooting an inch. inch and a quater high...same shooting position etc. at 140 it was still high and seemed to be dropping quite slowly. thought it may have been me and my shooting technique and more practice would even it out but so far i get the same results with all my hornady 17's. my next step will be to try winchester 17's and see if there is any difference. atb
  13. i have the strelok one and it seems ok....not been out much since getting it though so jury still out. plenty of good reviews. the shooter one is also meant to be a good one, i think that one is a paid for app. plenty on the internet about them as i had a quick look before getting strelok. atb
  14. Great day....memories of very much the same back home in Wales years ago.....good days!! atb
  15. Nice one frenchie!!! always nice on new ground, especially when it is a quick visit. atb
  16. skydrive.... the main thing is it is never 100% safe or secure as servers can go down and lose data. your best bet is to save your stuff to a few different sites as well as any hard drive so you have the best chance....and always still back up your data... atb
  17. I have one permission where the hares greatly outnumber the rabbits. Not in the massive numbers already talked about on here, but then it is only a small bit of land...mostly set aside. We like to see them about and so leave them to it or occasionally take one for the pot...that said if the poachers start to use the land i am sure we will be told to shoot them all to stop the visits which will be a shame really! atb
  18. Been out on one of my permissions today and the trees are heavy with red berries. the same the last 2 years, but i think this is the earliest i have seen them by a few weeks... Got rid of our 4x4 this year so will have to see about sledging and being out and about. Will wait and see... atb
