  1. picked up some sportsplast goose decoys 2nd hand a few weeks back. the ones made of the the tough rubber "thermoplastic". theyve been laying in a shed crumpled for some time and lost a bit of the shape. i can push them back to correct but they quickly pop back into the odd shapes. my idea is tp pack them with newspaper and givethem a warm up with a hair dryer. before i do anyone had this problem and how did they solve it?.
  2. gamebore mammoth , lylvale max game, hull ultramax, eley maximum and fiocchi magnum. all the big uk names has an offering
  3. is what it is. probably sold or he might just be busy idk. but i know what oyu mean and the frustration has a correlation with how much you want the item lmao
  4. well i didnt get replied to a month ago so dont hold your breath
  5. i read about this a few years ago its not something that can be done all over but in a few spots. if you think of the geography of Europe and how they have migratory pigeons everything in the north is trying to get to the med and it bottle necks at northern spain and italy. and then at these bottle necks they funnel again into the passes over the Alps and Pyrenees. so yeah specific spots at a specific time of year.
  6. you are right everyone entitled to an opinion but hes came here to make an offer/transaction whatever you want to call it and gets picked to bits. the lad might have loads to offer in future and criticizing constructive or otherwise, can make him think "not worth the effort". then everyone's fingers are burned. the free opportunity section is depressingly dead enough as it is im with the majority well on you mate, hope it went well
  7. yeah maybe youre right in that respect but i still think hurdles are in place. i guess what im saying is if you'd like to try clay's or target shooting avenues are available in a straight forward way. if for instance someone from an urban area whos maybe watched some meat eater or YouTube and becomes interested in the idea of the chase or the experience of putting meat on your plate yourself its a difficult thing to access if youre not lucky enough to have had a parent or grandparent to make your initial contact. not as hard as it was courses, guided hunts and stalking experiences have all started to emerge but its only really recently these have become viable options.
  8. it is true though. not so much now but the roots of english hunting go all the way back and the common theme was always the haves and the have nots its stitched into our heritage. the new forest is the new forest because 1000 years ago the Normans cleared everyone out of an area to make it a royal hunting ground. for a long long time it was actually illegal to hunt if you were "unlanded" so while the rest of Europe and the Americas were building a culture and heritage of hunting for subsistence we were cementing the shooting for sport culture and romanticism of poaching. Even today 99% of us shoot by another's leave. France and Germany as do most of Europe have public hunting laws or designated hunting ground. In the uk you could have been shooting for 50+ years and every shot legally taken was at the permission of someone else unless you own the land. everywhere else you can hunt as a right unless youve given reason to not be allowed. here you must seek and maintain permission from the landed.
  9. well that's the difference between section 1 and 2 section 1 you need to prove you should have it section 2 they need to prove why you shouldnt never thought about it that much and i honestly dont know were i stand on it. whats the point in having a gun for 30 years never shot?. but then again why not? aslong as youre same and of sound mind.
  10. the list of what it could be is endless, could be hes in the area making quota, could have been an anon call that someones concerned about your suitability to be a ticket holder. id seriously not over think it, and i always always kill them with kindness. end up having a good chat and they remember you and that youre sound.
  11. these days people are in education until the early 20s you can go to university doing PE and media studies or whatever and then enter the working world in the early 20s. If you want to be a soldier you'll be a soldier but its just not an attractive enough a preposition to people who are on the fence. You start on 18k a year and are still only making about 30-35k a year as a screw. thats the experienced back bones of the fighting unit on the same as a call center worker and not a rank you'll achieve in a year of 2 of just towing the line. no level of advertisement or beating on the patriotic drum will turn that around until professional soldiers are treated as professional tradesmen ready to do the trade. .
  12. looking for the above year edition of the eley diary if anyone has one. cheers
  13. just as a baseline before i start i use steel for wildfowling, on the odd pigeon and personally i find it acceptable, i can get on with it and can and have killed with it plenty of times. but for everything else i use lead and always use fibre wad. i get why BASC put forward the voluntary transition and for the most part actually support it. why sink millions into an unwinnable fight make the best of a bad situation and do it on shooters terms and show we can negotiate. the core reason im still using lead is this.... i feel like im (the everyday man) the only one taking the hit and carrying the weight. the ballistics are inferior how much isnt relevant but its agreed lead is better. why am i being told i should be using and encourage others to use something that costs over £525 a thousand when im currently using something that costs about £325 a thousand that only 2 years ago i was paying about £200 for and can still get on the continent for about £280?......that british made cartridges btw. might be worth convincing the cartridge manufacturers to not cream us every time they get the excuse or opportunity to hike the price and maybe take a hit as we've taken the last 5 or 6 off the bat. were all in this together right?
  14. sounds daft. park it with the prevailing wind. ive noticed if i park my truck pointing down the street its way less frosty than when i park it up.
  15. cardboard pallet dividers about £10 for 50 and an old pallet..... or go to somwhere like a food wholesalers and ask if you can have the old pallet dividers. theyre usually thankful youll take them as they fill the bins up.
  16. its Friday to Sunday mate feb 24th is a Saturday. next Wednesday is the 24th but youre a month early.
  17. well like everyone youre entitled to your opinions and you may be right but literally everything ive read and experienced will lead me to believe the opposite is true. yes the harder material will deform less but its also lighter and will slow down quicker and strike with less energy. at any given range bar point blank were the point is moot lead is the more lethal material. like i said above for the energy retention and penetration its advised to go up 2 shot sizes when using steel to achieve the results desired from lead.
  18. i appreciation what your saying but the laws of physics don't agree with you unfortunately. 2 projectiles of the same size and shape the heavier more dense of the 2 will carry more energy at a greater given distance. i hear what you are suggesting about softer lead deforming but the energy it carries pellet for pellet over an equal sized steel (very soft iron) will give it the edge. its why its been used as a impact projectile since they discovered it more or less. both are very much lethal but i dont think the poor chap would have been worse off having been hit with steel shot. its the basis of why its advised to go up a shot size or 2 when using steel because its simply not as effective as lead.
  19. but like for like shot size wise lead is more lethal than steel. thats kind of the main issue people have with it. im really perplexed by your take on this. under what circumstance are you thinking that the scenario you suggest? the argument regarding the safetly glasses is a bit flawed as steel of the same size is lighter and will slowdown faster.
  20. yeah got bought out by CZ just before christmas from the owners of magtec ammo. like most old brands of quality its now probably just a name thats passed about and rebranded ammunition.
  21. I’ve got a few mossbergs and they all use browning invector chokes or win-chokes (basically the same thing as both company’s have the same parent company)
  22. id be all over this if it was closer but im way north. RFD an option?
  23. its just a marketing racquet. late 2021 early 2022 i got a 1000 cartridges through my PSG club made by eley apparently to spec for practical shooting supplies. 28g of 6 fibre wad, 70mm, high brass all black case stamped with a silver 6 and thats it. usually use Olympic blues and these were somewhat smoother and really leathered the birds. i think they were maybe eley vip unbranded.........£55-60 quid a slab. none of the big players will release a 28g 6 fibre thats not aimed and priced for grouse shooters because they will make most of the product line redundant. ive still got a few ill dig them out and upload pictures
