  1. Pulsar Helion XQ38F spotter complete with charger, case and original box. I've genuinely hardly used the unit, hence it being up for sale, its in really good condition and I'm happy to answer any questions. Looking for £1,400.00 posted to UK mainland and fully insured. Thanks
  2. It was Lloyd, it was one gentleman who sadly died with several others injured.
  3. Whatever you use, make sure it’s fit for purpose and robust. I had first hand experience of the awful accident at the Roeburndale shoot at the start of the year where the bridge collapsed. No shoot day should ever go the way that one did.
  4. Good luck, you’re in for some fun! I use yeti gators, they are brilliant - and on reading your initial query was going to suggest them too. They are tricky to get on - leave them somewhere warmish for an hour or so before you fit them and then warm the rand up with a hair dryer to make it more pliable.
  5. I made a duck ragu at the weekend which I've had to share because it was absolutely delicious and relatively easy to make. I just swapped the legs in the recipe for whole birds. I was dubious about the cinnamon but the flavours combined over a couple of hours were amazing. I did use more expensive Italian tinned tomatoes than the own brand ones I usually use, and i do honestly think that they really helped. I made an aubergine sauce for my veggie daughter and had a first attempt at focaccia, which, if I'm honest, tasted like it was a first attempt!! But if you've got some ducks in the freezer, this is honestly worth a try - I reckon it would be lovely with either lamb or something like shin beef too. Ragu Recipe Link
  6. Bruno - I just wanted to say thanks for that suggestion. I love my curries and usually stock up on bulk spices etc from the 'proper' world food aisle whenever I'm driving past a supermarket in Keighley or Bradford (once in a blue moon) - but with that selection and delivery costs - I'll be putting in an order later tonight 👍 Thanks again
  7. My wife bought me an Aldi reciprocating saw for Christmas - a bare unit, no battery. Last month for my birthday, she bought me a battery and a charger, which had been as common as rocking horse poo over the last 10 months.
  8. I don’t know the mechanics behind the Guinness agitator, but this trick works with my home brew if I’ve not primed the bottles adequately and they’re a bit flat. If you get a small syringe, put the end in the beer (poured into glass) and work the plunger 3 or 4 times, the beer then settles like a hand drawn pub pint - might be worth a go before investing in something more expensive. I mainly use the little syringes that come with kids calpol but a normal medical syringe works too - just make sure it’s a relatively small one though otherwise you will end up with a pint of froth.

    Dirty Doner

Gladly, I looked at a few recipes online and went with what I could see was the common theme, I used: 1kg of 15% fat lamb mince 1tspn salt 2 tspn ground cumin 2 tspn ground corriander 2 tspn paprika 2 tspn dried oregano 1 tspn onion powder 1 tspn chilli powder I added all the spices etc to the meat and really worked it till it changed texture slightly. Rolled it in foil and in the oven on a trivet at 200C until the meat hit 75C - which took maybe 45 mins. @Fatcatsplat thanks - it was a 'free to a good home' freezer so It ain't pretty but I'm more concerned about what's coming out of it!! I've got 4 x cornies and 2 x pins, a firkin and 2 x angram hand pumps. Most beer gets kegged unless I'm having a party where I know we will get through a barrel with a hand pump (which is much more fun in my opinion).
  10. Living in the sticks, I do miss stumbling home from the pub leaving a little trail of cabbage salad bending me as I scoff a doner kebab. Last night I had some mates round so we could spend some quality time together so I thought I’d have a go at making a miniature elephants leg. It was incredibly easy, just mix spices with the lamb mince, roll in a foil ‘sausage’ and bake in the oven. I must admit there was some drunken blow torch activity involved in getting a nice char - but it was great fun. Well worth a go.

    Hogget

A friend of mine raises a few sheep and I always get one from him for the freezer every year. I prefer the taste of older lamb so he always sorts me out with a/some/?? hogget - basically a sheep between 1-2 years old. We gave one of the shoulders a nice long slow bath in a bottle of red and some stock - it was proper fall off the bone tender and delicious to boot.
  13. Hi jega sorry - just seen your query now. The model I got requires a 16amp feed. I've fitted a dedicate 16 amp circuit with a commando socket and also fitted a commando plug onto the welder to save any confusion. Most of the other gas/non gas welders on the same paages as my link are all 13 amp. I just figured that I'd get the beefiest I could as I knew I could power it at home.
  14. That'll be the ones !! Thanks amateur 😀
  15. I really rate ‘Reisen Cutter’ woodscrews - I get mine at JT Atkinsons, I’m not sure if they have a branch over your way but they’re worth a try if you can find some.
  16. I made a BIR version of chicken tikka masala with home made naans last night. Marinated the chicken in spiced yoghurt and then cooked it under a really hot grill before adding it to a pan of curry base gravy & spices. Really easy and really tasty. I also made a quorn version for my daughter - which was surprisingly tasty.

    Homebrewing

Not done much brewing for ages so I thought I’d pull my finger out. This is a clone of Brew Dog’s Dead Pony Club…… it cost a small fortune in hops!
  18. A quick google of her name brings up numerous newspaper reports showing that she’s certainly getting her comeuppance. Good job too!

The routes are signed from Pen Y Pass and there will be hoardes of people traipsing up the hill and the three main routes from that side of the hill all converge at some point, so as long as you are heading in an upwards - you will be heading in the right direction. That said, you are heading up a 1000m mountain and you should be able to take some responsibility for sorting yourself out if you become navigationally challenged - a hell of a lot of the people up there with you will be on some form of organised challenge and they wont necessarily know where they are or even where they are heading back to so it pays to choose wisely so to speak if you ask someone for directions. if you're not great with map reading, a useful start would be to buy the OS map for Snowdon (OS Explorer OL17) and download an app called OS Locate onto your mobile. The app will use the GPS on your phone and provide you with a 6 figure grid reference which you can then transpose onto the map and therefore give you an accurate location to either reassure yourself you are on the right track or if you have strayed. It's typically much easier to go wrong on the downhills (going faster/easier going/stopping less = more distance travelled before you realise) so a few checks as you start to descend to make sure you're heading down the right side of the hill (happens more than you'd think) and then onto the right track will soon boost your confidence that you're heading in the right direction. I'd recommend a physical map over a mapping app for a couple of reasons. The first is that you can start looking at the route you'll be talking well in advance of your actual walk - you can check out landmarks etc that you will be passing/crossing that could reassure you that you're on the right route. On the miners (on the way uphill) that could be when you get to Llyn Teyrn, cross the causeway and when you reach the shore of Glaslyn after heading uphill from the reservoir - this doesn't need any great in depth map reading skills but will give you the confidence to know you're on the right route. The second reason I'd recommend the paper map is it won't eat into your phone battery. I hope you have a great day out - and if you are going up from Pen Y Pass, don't forget you need to pre-book parking there now.
  20. Is it a changing room for the Lady of the Manor so she can go for a dip without the plebs seeing her bathers?
  21. A few weeks back I was on holiday on the Fife coast within eye shot of the Bass Rock. The number of dead gannets along the coastline was shocking to see.
