  1. Something else to think about... If,according to the HSE & FSA etc, there are no safe levels of lead because it is such a health hazard why do they allow our drinking water & food processing water to be treated with flouride that is a hazardous waste product from the phosphate fertiliser industry which amongst other nasties contains LEAD,mercury & arsenic, they do not treat our water with pharmaceutical grade flouride because that's way too expensive. I personally cannot prove this,i am no scientist but i would like to see trustworthy scientific tests carried out to prove this to be correct or incorrect,if proven to be correct surely it would give the shooting fraternity some decent ammunition (pardon the pun!) in the fight against an outright lead ban?
  2. Or 'rippin for salmon'.....& 'using the beastie' 😜

    A/T Tyre

I'm looking for a ROADCRUZA RA1100 205/70 R15,new or part worn,if part worn it must have a decent amount of tread on it. Wanted as a spare & to do the '5 wheel rotation' at certain intervals. I made the mistake of buying 4 of these brand new from a certain company back in early 2021,i was after a set of 5,they only had 4 left & told me they'd be re-stocking soon, since then i've been getting fobbed off with 'we'll definitely have them in next month' every time i contact them,it's now obvious they have no intention of ever re-stocking them & they seem to be the only company in the UK that import these tyres, lesson learnt! It's highly unlikely that anyone will have one of these lying around but no harm in asking... Cheers.
  4. That's crossed my mind but at this stage there's no clues as to how serious the consequences will be if you were to be caught using 'illegal ammunition' after the ban is in place, with firearms being involved you'll most likely get all hell unleashed upon you,the Backless Anti Shooting C###s,oops sorry the BASC etc will probably be calling for harsh sentences....not a risk i'd be willing to take unfortunately,i'll be throwing the towel in.
  5. I have a friend who's been in the fire service in a large region in England for many years,he has told me that they are now regulary called out to EV fires & that they are an absolute nightmare to extinguish,he recommends to never own one!
  6. I have an R10 Mk2 .22,i've owned it for a good few years now & it never let me down until last year when the reg developed a leak, that was a good excuse for me to ship it off to Ratworks for a complete tune & service which included a Tench reg,i can say that Ratworks completely transformed the rifle, what i'd thought was an already good rifle is now absolutely fantastic,i think it's safe to say that BSA cut quite a few corners when they put the R10's into production after Bowkett developed them,i'm only realising that now after having it tuned, the only thing that will part me from the rifle will be the lead ban!
  7. Is this lot any use to you?
  8. I think i've got what you're looking for,i'll dig it out later today/this evening when i get time.
  9. I also still have these,3 of them are as old as the pigeon shells, possibly made by the same company?,the 2 odd ones are a fair age too,i still use these to good effect along with Silosocks & a flapper & add dead birds on cradles as i go along.
  10. I've definitely got hoarding issues,it's a curse! 🙄 Anyway, found them, sticks are nowhere to be seen though, buried somewhere else no doubt....
  11. I've still got some of these stashed away somewhere,i'm guessing it was around 35 (?) or so years ago i bought them, the sticks are the middle clip-on type,i'll see if i can dig them out sometime soon & post a picture,no idea what i paid for them but they did the job for many years!

    Heads Up

I've been using Treelines for around 4 years now & they are without doubt the best wellies i've ever had (& i've had quite a few different brands in my time!),i've worn them in many different terrains & weather conditions, they haven't failed yet, cleaned & dried properly after use & there's still loads of life left in them, when they do fail i won't hesitate to replace them with another pair.
  13. Whilst everyone is being distracted by the Ukraine, party fines, yet more promises of sorting out the illegal immigrants problem etc etc, last week the Westminster chapter of the World Economic Forum snuck this out.... https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-a-lump-sum-payment-to-leave-or-retire-from-farming Offering bribes to farmers to sell up & leave the profession?,at a time of forecasted/threatened food shortages for various reasons i'd have thought it a better idea to encourage farmers to produce more not to quit & sell up,what do you think?,i have my own theories on this but shall refrain from airing them on here. This is also potentially another nail in the coffin of shooting & conservation in the UK,i very much doubt that state owned farms (or former farms!) would require or allow any form of pest control & we all as a shooting & conservation community know the impact that would have on wildlife. I've posted this merely as a matter of interest & gathering your views about this scheme & perhaps gain more information on it,to me it makes no logical sense whatsoever,i personally suspect alterior motives.

    CZ trigger kit

I fitted a 'Rimfire Magic' trigger spring kit on my 455 & it certainly improved it but i can't find the kits on their website now, perhaps you should give them a call & ask if they still do them?,they were popular kits, there's also a 'YoDave' kit but i'm not sure they're available in the UK(?) https://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/
  15. Innotec Multi Spay 1000,excellent stuff, use it on everything, inside & out, cleans, lubricates & protects,i know competition rifle shooters & wildfowlers that use nothing else.
  16. Get yourself some carburetor jet cleaning brushes for doing the barrel ports, plenty available on the Bay,they do the job well enough when used with a good bore cleaning fluid.
  17. Sad news, shame he never made the ton but a helluva good innings anyway,R.I.P auld fella.
  18. Just a thought, when cleaning your A400 do you pay special attention to the gas ports on the barrel, making sure they're not carboned up?,also,do you make sure the gap on the piston ring is positioned at the bottom of the piston when reassembling it?,sometimes small details like that can make a big difference to performance.

    Weather

    4 seasons 5 times a day up here,lambing snow,it rarely fails....
  20. Flapjacks,fruit & nut mix,2 in 1 coffee sachets,flask of hot water,bottle of drinking water,same every time,i'm a creature of habit..
  21. Fascinating!,i'd never have thought a wood pigeon could swallow anything so big,i've never seen anything like that in a woodies crop, every day's a school day!
  22. 'C' spanner,i've got a varying selection of these for adjusting bike rear shock springs.
  23. Personally i view the inbreeding of dogs with the same disdain as the inbreeding of humans,i knew a fella years ago who lost a beautiful 2yr old spaniel to a heart problem,it was later discovered that another dog from the same litter suffered the same fate at a very early age, allegedly directly linked to inbreeding,i've heard other similar stories over the years. A video as an example of the effects that can result from human inbreeding... For anyone interested Mark Laita (Soft White Underbelly) done a series of videos interviewing some very'interesting' characters, worth a watch. Apologies if this post derails the thread.....
