  1. Thanks, yes we are all are itching to get out and do a bit !! at least when this is all over we will all agree on a bit o crop protection , and yes you may need that tin hat 😉😁👍
  2. Hello Mel b3, at least you tried and are honest enough to say you didn't succeed !! , it sounds like me writing 😁 as I'm always on the look out, often see no pigeons and often rained on !! and while we are on I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers the other day I was just trying to put a point across about going out at the moment, I know it's difficult 👍
  3. Great to read chaps, what is the problem driving a few miles up the road for crop protection at the request of our farmers when the government is allowing 15.000 people into the country every day via air travel without any testing then they are allowed to drive off to wherever with no problem !!!! that's nuts surely ?
  4. Hello Walked up , just self restraint to be honest I have always enjoyed pigeon watch but never felt the need to join in !! I am the kind of person who does not like to disclose what I shoot and where ! but I simply felt I wanted to support "dad" in in particular for going out in which I consider to be a perfectly legal way and wanted to raise the points why , and thought the flak not justified and I would offer support to any member if they need it and I think it right to back them up !!! ps. I do realize these are not normal times and we need to operate in a different way , so stay safe and good shooting when you all get back to it ! regards Purist 🙂
  5. Well said Motty , like I said yesterday Basc. under government guide lines say. " should you inform the police take note of your ref. number " indicating you intend to shoot in a sensitive area, it does not say "you should " nor, you are legally obliged to, just like Nigel Farage said so many million pounds could be used for the NHS. not would be !!! joking apart I think just be sensible shoot when absolutely necessary and requested by the farmer, other wise like someone else mentioned it could be made obligatory, the police enforce the law but do not make the law. I think if any person was stopped and questioned about their travel when explained you are going to work for crop protection it would be fine , you are offering a free service to the farmer because you can afford to do that and enjoy your work on the farm, I have friends who are police officers ,well one retired and the wife who is a key worker with her cousin quite high up in the police force who I'm sure would all agree with me being balanced and intelligent people, regards Purist.
  6. Yes chaps there is nothing like a bit of stimulation to the forums in this terrible time ! I admit I have been winding one or two of you in a bit !! but still think we should respond if requested, to be totally honest it is personal choice and a difficult one, but felt it unfair to question some members on turning out for their farmers, its been like trying to convince members of " wild justice " to go pigeon shooting !!!! 😂🤣
  7. Thanks again for the reply and support, 🙂 Hello tight choke it was said tongue in cheek !! you will get used to my humour 😉
  8. Hello oldypigeon popper thanks for your response, I have not seen that personally in any advice on crop protection at this terrible time ! if that is correct then that is the case ! andi do ring 101 in areas where I think it is required but hav'nt seen it on Basc. checked yesterday , I am only trying to stand up for us shooters and not wilt like some of the lettuces in the supermarket at the moment !! 🙂 Lets hope we all return to normal as soon as possible with as few fatalities as possible, Regards.
  9. Does everyone ring the police every time they go shooting surely not ? as I said crop protecting shooters who should know what they are doing will inform the farm where they are before commencing !!! Not turn up willy nilly to please themselves !!!!! I Don`t think we should be wasting valuable police time with their limited funding every time we are called out to shoot ? we are responsible people and can be trusted to work correctly in every way, Regards Purist , passionate Wildfowler and crop protector .
  10. Why do you need to clarify anything ? do they not know what they are doing ? if so they shouldn't be there , its perfectly clear when crop protection is absolutely necessary and requested! and only travel when necessary , as I said i'm not trying to be difficult just pointing out facts, it is probably more dangerous to be walking about every where like people are at the moment than sitting in a hedge doing what you have been given permission to do and requested to do at this critical growing stage , regards Purist,
  11. Sorry chaps just one more thing on this controversial topic, if I could not get crop protection on my farm then you no longer be welcome because that's why you are there to protect the crops, and you would lucky not to get a bill for lack of yield .
  12. No sorry , still don't understand what you mean !! you are not supposed to be shooting pigeons for fun ? where have you been for the last 12 months ? as per general license !! I am not trying to be disruptive honestly or difficult just pointing out that we can still protect crops for farmers if absolutely necessary at the farmers request , I don't think it is up to the police to decide is it ? I think it would be classed as necessary travel, you are doing an important job in crop protection and will be clapped on Thursday night .
  13. Purist here just to say good of you for getting out crop protecting at this terrible time, can't believe you were getting at bit of stick about doing your bit for the farmer's !!! Well done you and keep at em !!!!!!
  14. Don't mean to ruffle any feathers chaps but remember pigeon are to be shot for crop protection according to the general license , so protect those crops it is work paid or unpaid . Purist from nowhere important.
