  1. Sorry, what i should have said was unless the scope is set up correctley , then your POI relative to your POA will change. to combat this you zero on the highest X mag, problem sorted, no zero shift. just because a scope dosent cost ££££'s it not a bad scope. FYI, the only scope that is ACTUALLY made for an AIRGUN is the AGS scope. You will find that even the cheapest of scopes are parallaxed for 100yds(Rim/ Centrefire ranges) Nickc
  2. You seem to have a lot of questions about 'what scope would be best for this' 'what scope would better for that' etc etc. why not find out where your local club is and pop along and have a look at other peoples set ups (most people let you if you ask), then you can decide for yourself what scope would be suited to the sort of shooting that you intend to pursue. in the meantime register on the Airgunbbs using a traceable Email address not a FREE one like hotmail or yahoo, use the search engine to look up all the questions you have to ask and you'll find most of the answers, failing that put up a sensible post and you'll get replies. HTH Nickc p.s i would say the Pro stalk for the 50mm lense, much better for dusk/dawn shooting
  3. Ok here's my take on it. i have a 6~24x42 on my rifle, i use the high mag(12x upwards) for range finding when Static shooting or bunny sniping. then wind it down to 6x for any stalking that i do. it is true that you dont need a high mag scope to be sucessful in the field, my mate swears by his 1.5~5x20 for hunting and gets bags of equal size to me( sometimes more) a good tip is to PRACTISE shooting at all ranges on a lower mag making sure that you can consistently put each pellet into a circle the size of a 2p piece, and only use the higher mag if u are unsure about shot placement, dont forget though buy winding up the mag your Point Of Aim will change ie. if using a mildot scope and on say 6x mag 1mildot holdover=35yards, then on say 12x mag at the same distance the POA might then be 2mildots hold over, etc etc HTH Nickc
  4. You could try using a few deeks  make sure you know which call is which tho, they do sound the same but each call has distinct differences HTH Nickc
  5. IIRC the 97k has got a built in silencer, so i don't think it would fit. Bare in mind that most of the noise you here with a 'springer/gasram' is the noise FROM the spring/ram, so a big silencer isn't very effective. A good Gunsmith should be able to quieten it down with a tuning, or you could just send it to the Venom boys for the works  HTH Nickc
  6. There is no small screw to adjust the AO. i no coz i have one on my S300. Its stiff coz its ment to be, after plenty of use it will give abit. If it doesnt loosen put a small squirt( and i mean small ) of a Silicone based lubricant on the thread for the AO ring( the bit under where it turns  ) then its just a case of working it in. HTH Nickc
  7. I think that the AA s410 wins hands down, although it has less shots per fill. much easier on the eyes  better build quality, better after sales service, better trigger, loads of accessories available. you get the idea. the S16 is very heavy and has a very long pull length, not really ideal for lugging aroud the fields all day, but its just about bomb proof and more or less an all weather gun. If you do get a good S16 then your lucks in, but if not then a little work might be needed if it was my choice id go for the AA s410. but at the end of the day its 'horses for courses' really. also depending on what method of charging you use pump or bottle the AA is charged to about 180-190bar, (much easier using a bottle, if you have to use a pump its not to hard ) giving about 70shots .177 and 80-90 in .22 depending on your set up. all the AA i've had liked a diet of either AA own pellet, Daystate's or Lazadomes in 4.52 and 5.51 HTH nickc
