Suspects killed by police in the USA are 75% less today than they were in 1980. That is true for blacks, Asians, Latinos, everyone.
Rate of shootings remains pretty steady since 2015.
919 people were fatally shot by police in 2018.
1,023 people were shot and killed by police in 2019.
Whites comprise over half those killed by police.
Black compose 13% of the population and comprise 26% of those killed by police.
Blacks are arrested and convicted of 38% of the violent crime in America: 3 times the rate of whites....disproportionate to their population.
In 2019, 10 people of 1,023 were killed by police accidentally or by use of force excessive to a crime being committed.
So, here’s the 2018 breakdown of the 995 people shot and killed by the police:
403 were white, 210 were black, 148 were Hispanic, 38 were classified as other, and 199 were classified as unknown.
Out of that 995, 47 were unarmed — 23 were white, 17 were black, 5 were Hispanic, and 2 were unknown.
Out of the 30-50 million interactions that the police had with the American public last year, 10 million people were arrested, and less than 0.01 percent were shot and killed by the police. Out of those 10 million people arrested, 47 of those shot and killed were unarmed, which equates to 0.00047 percent, 17 of which were black.
948 of 995 criminals killed by police were armed and committing a violent crime at the time. 95% of those suspects killed were armed.
The reality is that out of the 10,000,000 arrests made last year in the U.S., 17 black people shot and killed by the police were unarmed, which equates to 0.00017 percent. That does not mean they were innocent. It does not mean the shootings were racially motivated.
Blacks are "disproportionately" over-represented on police forces, for those who place some value on such things.
Black police and deputies do a lot of the patrolling and call responding to black neighborhoods.
Latino police and deputies do a lot of the patrolling and call responding to black neighborhoods.
So the criminals are being arrested by police of their own race, more than by white police.
Black police are involved in shooting and killing a lot of these black criminals. Are they racists? Of course not. -

On May 29, the country was told that the autopsy of George Floyd “revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxiation,” and that “potential intoxicants” and preexisting cardiovascular disease “likely contributed to his death.”
Floyd, an unarmed Black man, died in police custody on Memorial Day in Minneapolis, Minn. after a white police officer held his knee on Floyd's neck.
both these have been widely circulated, but of course one is highly likely to cause more rioting,looting and virtue signaling than the other.

I haven't seen today's news yet, if Cardif have managed a peaceful protest then good for them, I still don't see why they are bothering, how many lives are wasted every year in gang, drug or trafficking violence?
I don't recall any protests over that, the only time I really take notice is when an innocent person gets caught up in the violence.
It should be battons and tear gas then?
I was thinking miniguns, but I guess you could start with tear gas and work up, making sure you hit equal numbers of all the correct colour is the hard bit. otherwise you lose more tvs, smart phones and expensive trainers.

I admit these are not my words, but I agree with every one of them.
They try to canonise him because they're milking identity politics for purely partisan purposes. Like the left in this country who want to set the feet of "the working man" in cultural concrete and keep him needy and feeling "oppressed" and thereby electorally obedient, the Democrat establishment in the US similarly stoke black grievance and division between black and white so they can own the black vote. Instead of helping deprived blacks improve their lives they need them to stay trapped in a cycle of self-imposed racial feudalism so they can claim to champion these people and bank their vote.
Emphasising the skin colour of either Floyd or the officer plays this game. He wasn't arrested because he was black. He was arrested because he was a violent criminal committing an offence. I don't recall mass looting and violence when necklacing was happening in other parts of the world.
now one cops knee on a neck seems to cause so much worldwide concern.

I have said many times before that WHEN I stop getting water supplied through lead pipes, I may consider not using lead shot. Unfortunately it appears that the next generation of shooters have already fallen for ban lead campaign, hook, line and sinker. (lead alternative, of course).
