  1. Remember your training a hound ! Nose on ears off ! Dogs learn boundaries by correction . However no matter how good you think they are that , certain stimulus will trump the training so that makes it a management issue as much as a training one .
  2. Tungsten not from China is rare and already std steel shipments have set of radioactivity meters at Dock etc . They aint good at the honesty and health and safety bit let's face it
  3. Aluminium transmits heat very , very fast ! For that reason and its low melting point we consider it none forging . You can hower cold work it but you need to keep annealing it by putting oil on it and heating it with a module flame as it work hardens Machine out a billet of a reasonable grade will be the answer , oh don't bother grinding ! Just machine , then finish with a file made for ally which only has single line cut . Going to be a ****** to buff if thats what your client is expecting , even if you do it will just oxidise, so shiny means off to the anodising plant I suspect
  4. Unknown steels give unknown results . You might get lucky thats about it
  5. 440 is one of a few stainless cutlery steels that is relatively easy to heat treat to a degree . In a forge with proper control and soak . It benefits from crio but as you say oil will work . Austenitic cannot be hardened at all as regards a knife
  6. Very bad idea to remove the guard especially cutting curves in hc steels ! Most of the discs that fly off won't hurt you but one day one will and it can be very nasty! Deaths have occurred! The most common injury though is a deep gouge into the back of your trigger finger ! It will take many months to heal at least and I have one i did over 30 years ago when we all did crazy stuff like that in industry . Get caught doing it today and you will be sent home and for good reason Different models give different grip . Try them but for gods sake put the guard back on and wear a visor and respirator . All knife makers should invest in an airfed visor imho ! Gives you stamina to stand at the 2x72 all day , doesn't steam up and keeps metal dust from killing you in your lungs slowly
  7. The above plug in 13 amp male plug with appropriate 13 amp fuse with a trailing 16 amp female plug it the way to weld of std mains on a temporary basis . I would usually chose the cooker circuit or a dedicated outside circuit . I also keep half a dozen new 13 amp fuses in the truck . A modern inverter can manage 120 amp 3.2 mm electrode off this a small carry around mig . Mostly you will trip out at the fuse box on starts but you definitely need those 13vamp plug fuses .
  8. They are junk , plenty of aftermarket drop mag kits available for them now using the AI mags . Very much recommend that route I built one a good few years back when you could only get Badger Ordinance from the USA but there are British made ones now
  9. How on earth are you doing the heat treatment then ?
  10. Always surprises me how many shooters don't actually know the basics of disassembly and cleaning of thier own firearms . If you don't know today there is u tube
  11. you dont see them because the ones that visit us begger off late summer , but just be wary of early teal
  12. Can buy it cheap enough in 25 kg sacks shipped from USA. Stuff the EU ! Frankly the uk is the biggest closest buyer of eu made products . With thier deficiet the thing they fear most is us getting a better deal with the USA or better access to the east / China via Australia, top tips for our next trade envoy seems to be the ex pm of Australia so don't sweat
  13. I have a 1/2 choke for the sx3 i could let go , no key available though , most rfds will have one to fit but they are easy to make
  14. I would if I was prepared to make a new screw TIG an Allen key to it and screw it out
  15. have a mate who breeds and works them to falcons. Them dogs can really run they ain't no hpr
  16. If mild steel zinc plated ! Not galv will be full of crud and likely bent with distortion. Anodising is what you do to aluminium alloys not steel as a house sight would normally become in Personally speaking I like copper for this kind of work especially well aged in the weather
  17. I make my own . Its really not hard to make them if you can weld half way decent. You buy in all the wheels from the likes of TR maker and vfd from invotek (the later are genuinely made in the uk and highly regarded world over ) . Imo making a lot of knives each month and using the grinder in other fabrication work you do not need a flip 90 type in fact consider a workpiece flying high speed at centre body mass height I suggest you think real carefully. I work so things come off downwards or directly away if I screw up . Belts smart a bit if or rather when you bust one and make damb sure you get an airfed visor because metal fringing dust and such fills the air very rapid , it will also fill lungs
  18. Most have been opened up for steel . However wad slitting changes will give you more control on pattern than choke by a long way in a ten shooting steel !
  19. Pressure is your enemy in 410 it's very high as it is to be pushing the velocity window which is important with steel , especially with smaller shot required to fill out those patterns . Tss by accounts of people I know and trust is awesome in the 410 but then at the sheer cost of the material you want to be firing a small charge of that stuff . Frankly speaking the chinese will send out anything and there have already been many problems with dangerously high radon active carbon steels and wrong carbon content in a multi billion power station dome on a French nuclear plant . Do I trust them to tend me safe shot as described ? Not much at all frankly ! You watch how things develop after the Hawaii thing
  20. Haven't bought factory Cf for well over a decade never had an issue at renewals bullets , primers , powder etc dont go on your ticket and so long as you have valid land for use available at renewals there should never be an issue . Never has with mine The bullet use thing comes often enough when your an occasional club shooter who keeps a lot of firearms .
  21. You can shoot very well to 40 yards with 4x magnification, its exactly like shooting ten yards with no magnification at all . I like airguns with low magnification , small in size , low to the bore and able to hold thier zero .
  22. They said he wasn't going to win last time , absolutely no chance ! Bet he walks it especially with all this defund the police and BLM rioting and looting 😉
  23. Brown was the labour guy who voted for the ban on fox hunting was he not ?
  24. Interesting subject , once the cops know it's not in place anymore guess what's going to happen ....... It's a bit like the nuclear arms thing no have them and you soon get pushed around ! This is what happens when you elect land surveyors, failed politicians and air gunners to the committee. Funny how the feos are very keen to ask if your a BASC member . I had Basc firearms offer to take a case but it wasnt worth the temporary revocation so I turned the other cheak but believe me Firearms departments will be rubbing thier hands with glee and many who can will be going with someone else as thier org . Cost effectiveness? Very doubtful Indeed but I think blame should be placed on those who vote the wrong people onto the board
  25. The RFD if politely asked by the firearms team to do something will generally accept what they " Suggest " you see there are many reasons for this but I suppose if something hits the fan one day they could not be blamed. An rfd walks a fine line of cooperation and liability. Do I think it right ? No but would I also do it if I took up as an rfd ?yeah
