  1. We are affiliated to the NRA. Most members have their own BASC membership. We also have our own club insurance. Is there a reason why you would like to know?
  2. Hi everyone. Working Monday to Friday does not prelude you from joining the BWC. Our criteria is, you must be able to commit to shooting at least 20 outings per season.
  3. If you work five days a week, this does not prelude you from going out. But you must be able to shoot 20 times a year.
  4. Our joining fees are very moderate. Those who enquire regards to joining, are told at the time, by our secretary who sends out the application form.
  5. We do understand that this opportunity may be off putting for the Monday to Friday workers. Unfortunately, due to our commitment to our farmers, we need shooters out there at the times stated. After the two year probationary period, seven day a week shooting will also become available.
  6. Hi, we treat every potential member the same, regardless of qualifications. Read the post again. Summer shooting will be available.
  7. We are a long established club operating in the Brentwood, Chelmsford, Latchingdon, Bradwell on Sea and Essex areas. We are looking for experienced Woodpigeon shooters to come and join our pest control club. We are a structured organisation, with a committee of seven. Selection at the moment ( which will be changing) is by interview. If accepted, you will be asked to complete a set of theory questions, based on your knowledge around the general licence, safety and pigeon shooting in general. It’s not a pass or fail. Shooting will be offered, Monday to Friday whilst on probation. You must be able to complete 20 shoots per season, which runs from 1st September until the end of May. Summer shooting will also be available. Please contact us via email at brentwoodpigeon@gmail.com. Frank & Sue Harrington Shoot Organisers.
  8. Hi all, we never received notifications of this blog, so apologies. The BWC has been going strong for over 60 years. Our fees for joining are below £100 per year, so no idea where £3600 came from. The main reason why our club has been going for so long, is because we are very careful who we take on. We need people who can converse with our farmers, leave a field when asked to do so without argument, which would include antis, who take umbrage to our vermin control activities. We understand some shooters feel left out because of their working conditions. But, if you can manage 20 shoots per year, shooting Monday to Friday then we could still offer you a place. We are a very strict club and have rules. If you cannot follow rules, then we will not be able to offer you shooting. Once you have passed our interviews and tests, you are then let loose on the many farms we have available. You simply book a farm out and that is yours for the day. Some farms require more than one shooter, because of the vastness and the lay out. Our committee consists of a chairman, a secretary, a treasurer, a mapping officer, a farm liaison officer and two shoot organisers. As an experienced pigeon shooter, you will know that groundwork is the basis of a good outing. We do not hold back on farms that have been hit by pigeons. We will tell you where the pigeons are. We never ever class vermin control as sport. We are contactable via email at frankharrington@sky.com. If you wish to be considered for membership, then please use the email giving your name, date of birth, occupation. Please leave a phone number where you can be contacted and we will phone you back. Yes we really will. Frank & Sue Harrington shoot organisers for the Brentwood wood pigeon club.
  9. Hello, I am the shoot organiser for the Brentwood Wood Pigeon Club. We don’t have a website. The club has undergone many changes over the past few years with a new committee in place. We do vet prospective shooters very carefully and the interview to join the club is very intensive. Whether you are an experienced pigeon shooter, or a novice, everyone gets treated the same. You will also be required to undergo trial shoots if accepted into the club. Prospective members must be able to shoot Monday to Friday and undertake 20 shoots a year, between 1st September and the 31st May. You may also shoot during the summer period, but this will not count towards the 20. After a two year probation, in which you will be scrutinised, you can apply to shoot at weekends along with the Monday to Friday shoots. If you wish to be considered to join, I can be contacted on frankharrington@sky.com Frank & Sue Harrington shoot organisers BWC
  10. The Brentwood wood pigeon club still exists. They don’t have a website but can be contacted via email brentwoodpigeon@gmail.com Joining the club is very lengthy and can take up to four months. Due to Corvid virus, interviews are taking a long time. The criteria is, you must be experienced in pigeon shooting. You will be questioned on health and safety and good shooting practices and undertake trial shooting, irrespective of your shooting abilities. It is preferable you are sponsored by an existing member. Hope this helps Frank
