  1. Volvo XC70, capable all rounder if you must have an estate
  2. Had Golf Rs for last 10 years, Mk 7s and just about 3 years into a Mk 8, you wont be disappointed with the performance of either, all have been faultless but VW customer service is average. Honestly preferred the 7 to 8 as liked the manual box and the buttons on the 8 drive you to despair (not very intuitive). Both much quicker than you could possibly need.
  3. Toyota, customer service is exceptional
  4. Not sure I follow, pension is income, income is income, agree we pay too much tax though
  5. I have a skeet vest and clay jacket, normally a large (40/42) and both labelled large and fit fine, both great quality
  6. That's true but the general public are less likely to be offended if they are unaware is my point
  7. To be fair, each to their own, my gripe is why film it and put it on social media, some things (like this) best kept under the radar in my opinion
  8. Not sure this is correct, I can start claiming my private pension at 55 (rising to 57 in 4 years time from memory), I pay no tax on my contributions and the lifetime allowance is over £1 million pounds (which is sufficient for most)? And the limit on the lifetime allowance is to be abolished in April 2024 by the current government?
  9. I kind of understand but looking at the number of large new 4x4s on the school run, latest mobile phone contracts, 2 foreign holidays per year spread across social media etc etc, all of which will be on tick, maybe they should prioritize for their retirement. My folks had none of this and they are comfotable as they got their priorities right, I should be very comfortable if I make old age but I have lived within my means (just).
  10. I feel pretty fortunate, I was strongly advised to start paying into a private company pension when i started work some 35 years ago, it was the last thing on my mind at the time but what I struggle to understand is why so many people appear to be relying solely on a state pension?
  11. Probably always will be a bit divisive, not sure why anybody would feel the need to show it off on a public channel.
  12. I have the shooterking venatu jacket and trousers, both excellent and good value at sale prices, only negative a bit warm but great in the winter. Only shooterking gear that I have been disappointed with were their early fleeces, pretty thin.
  13. Think you are better off buying mid range (tefal type £30) and change more regularly, they all deteriorate, you cant beat a new one.
  14. Interim funds can be passed to beneficiary by executor before submitting accounts to HMRC, but it is at the executors risk (it is possible somebody could make a later claim against the estate)
  15. I heard similar at the weekend from a commercial shoot, most fibre wad carts contain plastic disks?
  16. Its really not awful, they only cost £450 new, you will lose that much on most other new guns whatever the brand.
  17. Not seen one on the road yet, Ineos have a showroom in the middle of nowhere (Norfolk), right next to where I take my Toyota RAV4 (great service by the way), I have looked at them a couple of times but suspect bit of a risk to jump into the brand, often people looking round them though.
  18. Any Pinot Noir for game personally (Burgundy is the best but most new world stuff is decent).
  19. Very little wrong with the Turkish guns and if its your first gun you wont know any different, trigger pulls a little bit heavy/agricultural, residuals is not relevant, they dont cost much to start with, you wont lose a lot. My 2 boys put several thousand through a KOFs with no issues, its still in the cabinet awaiting grandchildren in a few years time.
  20. sealskinz are ok if you get the right ones, bit too bulky to shoot in, I have found leather riding gloves/golf gloves to offer the best grip and feel, relatively cheap and do enough to keep your hands warmish
  21. Cranes are about? Never seen more than 2 Herons flying together and certainly not in formation.
  22. Barbour Gamlan are really good, last very well, difficult to find now
  23. Dont rule out 28" barrels either, when I purchased one for my lad, i went to the shop convinced 26" would be better, he picked up both and much preferred the balance of the 28". He was 12 at the time.
