  1. Jays SG aka Two Counties SG isn’t too far away. Targets are good there. https://www.cpsa.co.uk/clubs/two-counties-gun-club/691
  2. Thank you very much for the information, most informative.
  3. Whatever the failings of the government, the migrants, whether they be fleeing persecution or otherwise, are welcome here as far as I’m concerned. The UK is a nation of different nationalities and cultures and goodness me, we need hard working individuals to contribute the economy.
  4. I’m sure you’re correct. You probably know more about the discipline than me. I’d be interested to know which ‘top shots’ are using 3/4 and full choke for DTL as I’ve not seen it.
  5. No they don’t. 1/2 and 5/8 or 1/2 and 3/4 is the norm. I find 1/2 is more than adequate for good first barrel breaks assuming you’re shooting the target where you should.
  6. Good luck to our GB shooters competing at Todi shooting range this week. Some of the UK’s finest are attending so hopefully we’ll have a chance against the best from around the world.
  7. It happens, thankfully only infrequently but just last week I spoke to someone in this position. Their GP won’t complete the form and their police force won’t accept either a third party report or an application without one. They’re in discussions with their medical practice in the hope another GP will provide one. In any event it’s somewhat immaterial. Most practices are fully committed with the Coronavirus pandemic and have little time for additional work even if the applicant’s paying for it.
  8. Please everyone, before you spend any money with Medcert, check that your police force accepts reports from them. Some forces insist on a report from the applicant's practice. Don't make the mistake some have and spend money on a Medcert report only to find it's worthless.
  9. No problem with a semi automatic for skeet, in fact I used to shoot one myself. As far as trap’s concerned, for anything informal and providing those around you don’t mind they’re fine. For very obvious reasons please don’t shoot competitive events with one though. It worth noting that, whilst they’re a rare sight on a trap line in the UK, when it comes to registered competition many grounds will squad semi automatic shooters together or ask them to shoot alone.
  10. North Cornwall SG and Two Counties SG (the old Jay’s) aren’t too far away.
  11. Look no further than Canterbury. By far the most reliable acoustic system. Parts are readily available and at a decent price. They’ve become so commonplace it’s years since I’ve shot anything other than an acoustically released trap, even the skeet layouts have them now. http://www.cvr.co.nz
  12. It’s not really. Last time I went trap houses looked shabby, targets were a long way from regulation and peg slabs were a mess with weeds everywhere. I get the impression they’re more interested in providing a fine dining experience than quality clay shooting. Ironically, it’s no more than a few miles from me yet I wouldn’t ever consider visiting. I hope it’s bought by someone that will improve the shooting and reintroduce registered events. I doubt it’ll happen though.

    Coach

I have. There’s plenty of coaches that offer relatively basic instruction but none that drill down into the finer details of the mental side of competitive shooting. David Ball’s been mentioned. Has anyone any experience of him?

    Coach

Apologies for not making this clear but I’m looking for a trap coach rather than sporting, specifically fast trap (ABT/UT). Does anyone know of a coach that specialises in this area?
  15. I’m looking for a coach in the North Yorkshire area. I’m already at a reasonable standard but would like to progress, particularly with the mental training side of the sport. Can anyone recommend a coach that’s local. I’ll travel to neighbouring counties if necessary.
