£96 😳 and back in less than 24 hours.

This gun is just over 5 years old and is in excellent condition. It has had very little use having had less than 100 cartridges through it, mostly on clays. 3” chambers, 30” barrels and 14 1/2” pull. In October I handed my proforma to my Dr the week I got the renewal letter. Less than 24hrs later it was completed and I picked it up which is fantastic service but I paid £96 for the privilege! The issue is that 4 months after I completed the online renewal with TVP they still have not issued a new one and have had to send a letter granting me 8 extra weeks continuation which must be due to a huge backlog they are going through.

I had a disjointed season for one reason or another but it ended well this morning.

What do you recommend to sharpen them with? I have just got some Robert Welsh and Sabatier knives

Selling my Super Solway to make room in the cabinet. I got it in April 22 from Derek Lee Gunsmiths and have never used it! 32” barrels, Pull is 14” and as I recall it’s choked to 1/2 and 1/2. A nice clean gun, a few age related marks and there is a slight rattle on the 2nd trigger but overall in very good condition. It was serviced just before I purchased it. I would always choose a morning flight over an evening. I do generally see more duck in the evenings but once the duck have finished in the mornings the geese will move, I see less in the evening. My eyesight is better in the mornings and the marshes are much quieter: I’ve been surprised by how many more fowlers there are in the evenings as I often have the marsh to myself in the mornings.

My dad lives close to them and has had a couple of guns from there and I have had 1. Good selection of guns and nice blokes to deal with.

My dogs were the same - changed to the CSJ tripe/fit fast which I just mix together and they all have slow feeding bowls. Problem solved now! Also give them pure flax which seems to be working well for them.

I use the Avian-X decoys for teal. Very realistic and a softer plastic so they don’t make a noise. Expensive but worth it I think.

I’m not sure how to listen to them on android but there is a podcast app on apple which is standard. I used to listen to the country gent which ran for a couple of years but is apparently coming back. Other than that basc and shooting times both have one. The rest seem to be more stalking related which I don’t do or a lot of American hunting.
