  1. Cz 452 varmint 20" barrel. do the trigger and your in big time. At 100 yards on a still day i was shooting 3mm rivets out of a metal plate shot after shot. How accurate do you need to get. Put your money that your gonna waste into the glass to go on it.
  2. good gun mounting is vital and dont hold the shot when the gun shoulders on the target fire instant. No you dont have to shoot loads of shots. shoot point of impact at 16 yards and then at 30 yards for pattern. make sure the pattern plate is chest height. dont shoot down at it or up at it.
  3. Bushnell legend 5 x 15 x obj they are getting cheap now seen em for £140.00 new. Really good.
  4. I like eating a few every now and then and at 20p a brace great value for money. Easy to rear and hold, and you can charge tw---s £40 a bird when they finally hit one.
  5. Now you have sqeaked it, i would oppt for a good snare. but remeber to check em regular. (daily).
  6. Save your money. Go and see some farmers or game-keepers. Dont encourage paying for pigeon shooting. You will only get ripped off anyway.
  7. The good thing about just cartridges is that charles, always keeps nearly every brand and you can usally find what your looking for. The Bad thing is, i always find what i am looking for £12 to £15 per thou cheaper else where and more locally.

  12. for what you are saying, i would oppt for a .223 rem it will be legal for both and a great fox calibre it is to. If you dont want to spend to much have a look at the CZ bruno range, great value for money. If you want to spend a few quid look at the Tikka T3. But remember if you are gonna move on to shoot roe or Fallow 243win would be better and load down to 75 grain rounds for foxes it will be just fine.

  14. Hello all. Would certainly say that the weather and the snow slowed up me up, making reasonable bags of pigeons. Everyone on here has been hopeing for better times and more windy days,as january has been difficult for some. On saturday 2nd Feb I had a Pretty good day, very enjoyable, in the Kingsclere area of Berkshire. I went to shoot on some rape fields that i have had my eye on. i have been unable to shoot these fields until now due to the game season. There were 4 fields of rape in this block and quite alot of acres to boot. So i places some stratigic rope bangers and set up in a hedge to with some sitty trees close, to try my luck, yet again. Started with 16 flocked shells and a rotarty added when the first birds were shot. About 9am i was set up and had already pushed a few hundred off when i got there. By 13.45 hrs it had dried up so packing up and picking up was the next step. total bag 152 and 1 rook. Good breeze certainly helped, and sunny it was to. Weighed in at the game dealer on the way home and collected £30.00. What more could i have asked for,Another really enjoyable day,in controling the vermin and watching the wildlife. I loved it, and as the month before i had tried so hard with not alot of reward,i was certainly pleased too. More windy days requested. Things looking up after the snow.
  15. I think i might have the same trouble as you. I am in the market to purchase another semi auto,as i sold my Beretta AL391 synthetic urika a few years back. As a boy i had a remy 1100 auto, and a beretta 302 before that, so no stranger to using them. The Beretta AL391 urika was the best i have owned so far without dought. But this time round i have alot of people saying look at the benelli m2 and super vinci before you spend your money on a Beretta A400. I have also had great comments from owners of the Winchester sx3 auto, many saying how great for the money they are. So this weekend coming, i will be attending the british shooting show to start my quest in looking for a new or good s/h auto. I have been shooting 32" o/u for the last ten years,so i may go for a 30" barrel on the auto. Lets see what the weekend brings and whether i can find something i like the feel of.
  16. I sure he just means the fox, maybe he didn't think that far ahead.
  17. Nothing wrong with the B525 they are really good. Also prefer the sporters to game versions more weight shoot much nicer for me. I own one but never fired a shot throught it,its brand new. my mate has one shot his they are great.
  18. don't think it will make any difference. it done us no good at all.
  19. Correct mate, dred the day you gotta phone them everytime you want to go out. give a few years and that will be nxt.
  20. What i am saying is. the guy could have had permission and been shooting to close to the road etc. You could have opened your window and shouted at him or walked out there to go and see him. The next morning he could have checked with the land owner to see who had permission. if there was no permission granted, then he could have notified the police and the landowner, that someone was shooting behind his house, shooting close to the road etc. He could have been a poacher with no permission at all, your man could have phoned a friend for back up, gone out there or gone on his own letting his wife or misses know he would be back in a certain time etc and spoken with him, and what his concerns were. If he could not explain for his whereabouts and who had given him permission etc, You could then pick up your phone and call the police. you could have followed without him knowing and took the number of his car if you had the time, but was probubly not the case. This man could have been a fellow shooter/could have been a poacher. His decission was to call the police.Mine would not have been. Yes i did read your post about speaking with the council now you know. so next time call the police cause now you are sure.
  21. I use 3/4 and full from a 32" miroku trap gun. It works fine in close or out long,it's about getting the lead on the target. and as far as blasting a bird at 20 yards or so, for 15p to 25p from my local game dealer depending on time of the year, i really dont care. If you have a multi choke gun then half choke will do the job fine over decoys. If you learn to shoot with alot of choke in the gun you will end up better for it in the long run fact. when you clay shoot, you get to see the whole shot picture much clearer and more defined making better prcission and your mental picture becoming more precise. You can always shoot 28gram shells to reduce the lead if you need to.
  22. I see the police turned up again in a hurry from your phone call. 12 hours later still no sign of them. Thats why i would not phoned them in the first place (knowing the outcome). Anyway i think you did the wrong thing mate. You should have gone out a spoke with the guy,if you were upset by him shooting near the road. There are a few chaps that have permission over council land these days. And shame on you to phone the old bill without doing so. As for telling the police before you go shooting in case someone calls them, what a joke. back in the 1990's i used to call my local police station, to let them know that i would be shooting on a local golf course. They sent out an armed unit after midnight on two occasions.. what a bunch of pillocks,so i dont bother to phone them anymore wherever i shoot. If they want to come out they can.I just try to make sure i am always shooting sensibley and within the law. You could always ring the land-owner or the council in daylight hours to see if anyone had permission to be shooting there, if you did not want to confront the bloke for your own safety. If there answer is, no one has permission, then call the police.
  23. Yea i have my eye on a particular wood at the mo. cannot shoot it until feb 1st. hope the winds about that day.
  24. same as. I try not to shoot the same wood to often. I recon every couple of weeks or so too. I know if there are lots of others shooting the ground you got to try and shoot em when you find em. If you can leave them undisturbed for a couple of weeks and then pick the right day for wind etc you may well get alot more shooting.
