  1. I'm on a service contract with Worcester Bosch for £25 p/m, so £300 per year. That includes an annual service and call outs if we have a problem. We have an oil burner and must have had about £1500 of work in the last 3 years - so we still feel like we're in credit!
  2. One of these works really well: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CM6YSGP/ref=dp_cerb_2
  3. "Behind every politician are several people who actually know what they are talking about" *allegedly
  4. Ok - well I use several of these for various uses. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DJCZQ74/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Excellent 1080HD with good night vision. Wfi or hard wired. Can take micro SD card and record.
  5. Is this another war film where the US of A take credit for something the Brits did?
  6. How big an area does it have to cover? Will it have access to wifi? Can it be mains powered?
  7. I had something similar to the Barnet Diablo. Certainly made me feel better and really cool! Not sure it helped accuracy.

    New small business

Do you have a web-site? Just a simple few pages to show people who you are and maybe have some recommendations and examples of what work you do. Once set up, this can be maintained for c.£50 a year. A business Facebook page is also quite easy to set up. Look to adverstise in either local free ads or the local village magazines that target the sort of demograhphic (customer) that you want to attrract. The cost can be minimal. I'm not sure what your products or target audience are but you can get some decent exposure with minimal outlay. We live in a world of social media and technology. People like to look you up and check you out. Referrals and recommendations are lovely, but rarely enough to keep you going. Good product, good service, good pricing (that doesn't mean cheap). Reputation is everything as a small business.

    Self Assessment

HMRC should not email you that sort of thing, particularly if you've had no contact with them recently. Worth a call just to check. Do not click on any links in the email. I get `tax rebate due` emails and all they need is my bank details. 😂 Get's reported and goes in junk.
  10. Or you could buy one of these: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/trigger-guard-lock-id_8372268.html
  11. I ordered a Thai bride and got this:

    Hotmail query

There is, but you need to know their email address in advance to add them to your safe senders list before they email you. Manually Add the Sender to Your Safe List If an existing email from the sender hasn't already been trapped in your junk folder, you can manually add him to your Safe List. Click on "Options" in the upper right corner of your Hotmail screen. Then click the link for "Safe and Blocked Senders" in the body of the page under Junk e-mail. Click the "Safe Senders" link and enter the email address you want to whitelist. Click "Add" to put it on your list.
  13. Yeah - also proportionate. New of other schools that have actually closed: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-51630931
  14. These are local to me and although not closed (yet) they have been affected by ski trips to Italy and put some parents/children in self-isolation (i.e - stay away from the schools). https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/staff-pupils-two-leicestershire-schools-3889880
  15. Yes - I do find the 1080 gives a decent picture but the IR range is limited. You would need something more `complex` (expensive). I'd always got for the highest possible picture quality. Let us know how you get on.

    Retirement

I got tired just reading that! Keep up the good work.
  17. It was front page on BBC news but has since been moved. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-51626844
  18. What you have linked to should be suitable. Yes, you'll need to wire stuff in but it seems fit for purpose. I'd recommend a DVR as it will record everything but can also be wired to a monitor/TV. I'd go for as close to 1080HD as you can get as the image quality is so much better than 720. 960 is pretty good as well. No point trying to use it for evidential purposes if the picture quality isn't great. I use wifi cameras for a horse yard but the IR only has a range of about 25m. They are great for the intended purpose but not a 100m long paddock. I do find that with CCTV, you get what you pay for. Good luck with it.
  19. I did say things had changed! 😄
  20. I fell foul of that many years ago on my first trip to Sharm. I didn't know the difference and they weren't about to explain it to me!

    Camera

Mains powered through what I think is a 12v adaptor. They also have a slot for a micro SD card, so if you wanted, you can set them up to record 24/7 or be movement activated (that's more of a security feature). They can also be set up to email you movements alerts etc bu tthey tend to false activate a lot a those sorts of motion activated features aren't really that useful. They work on wifi but also have a socket for a data cable on the back, so can be hard wired if needed. For general dog watching etc. they are really good. We've got some `better` (outdoor) ones for a horse yard and they are brilliant.
  22. If you fly in via Hurghada and buy the usual $25 tourist visa on entry, that should cover you for 30 days and covers Cairo. It's only if you fly into Sharm and buy a cheaper `Sinai only` visa (with a view to not leaving the Sinai region), that you would need the full $25 tourist visa to go to Cairo. From what you say, you should be covered. https://www.lonelyplanet.com/egypt/visas

    Camera

I have a couple of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JZFQ8MC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just connect them to your wifi and you use the app on the phone to access. Camera be remotely operated to move up and down and also has sound and you can even talk to the dog! There are plenty of these sorts of things out there. I recommend that you get 1080HD as picture quality is so much better. They also have IR night vision.
