  7. Hi, I'm in a position to offer a 50 bird day to a team of 8 guns at £150 per gun, available to a whole team or individuals/pairs as appropriate. "The Newbridge Shoot" is located near Chirk, North Wales. The DIY shoot has been running for approx 25 years between local friends, it covers around 400 acres of mainly woodland with lots of ground cover. Main quarry is pheasant with a fair few woodcock later on in the year. The shooting can be very challenging on most drives but would suit all abilities. If you're looking for a fun informal day with like minded people "The Newbridge Shoot" will provide it in abundance. * 800 pheasant to wood * 50 bird day with NO overages * Bacon rolls and coffee/tea on arrival * Sloe gin/port, pork pies/sausages provided for elevenses * Guns to provide own lunch, but stew will be also served in the Wood Hut. * 6/7 drives on the day * Brace of birds for each gun * November 14th (Saturday) * £150 per gun Rules that will be inforced on the day, NO semi automatic shotguns, Proof of insurance must be shown prior to shooting, NO exeptions, Low /dangerous shooting will not be tolerated. I hope Iv provided enough info for you guys, but if anyone wants anymore please PM me, email at dafydd1983@yahoo.co.uk or 07743644715. Below is a link to one of the PW members who took us up on a last minute walk 1/shoot 1 day last season. These days will be available again this year for £50, but will be short notice. Cheers guys, all the best. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/301727-beat-1-stand-1-l50/?p=2716388
  8. It was nice to meet you Mark and glad you enjoyed! A little straighter shooting and we would have made double figures easily! All the same a good walk round at the end of the season.
  9. Another cracking day, it seems to get better as the season goes on, shame it's all over in a couple weeks!
  10. Congratulations! I still remember my first about 15 yrs ago, first shot dropped into some briars, I didn't have a dog and didn't want to risk losing it before the pickers up got to it so dived in straight after it! Stunning birds.
  11. Just another update from our shoot today. Managed to do 6 drives, including bagging up 2 ton of corn at lunch time! First drive was Islwyns/Duck Pond/The Knob, this didn't show as many birds as usual but still managed 3 birds in the bag. Next up was Horse Field and The Big Wood, plenty of testing birds over the guns and another 4 in the bag. A quick drink and some wild boar pork pies, then onto The Sewerage drive, again, a little down on numbers but another 4 birds in the bag. After drinks we did the Pen Rough, this produced some tremendous birds, very testing even for the better shots! We picked up 11 birds for a lunch time total of 22 pheasant. After lunch we did Square Wood, followed by River Wood and finally Shed Drive. These all produced some great pheasants along with several woodcock. Unfortunately due to the recent rains the height of the fast flowing river had risen significantly and claimed 3 pheasants and a woodcock. Total for the day was 39 pheasants and 1 woodcock. http://s1237.photobucket.com/user/dafydd1983/slideshow/Newbridge%20shoot
  12. Money wise, it all depends on what you want out of the shoot, weather you have to rent the land, buy in birds, feed, equipment etc. keep it small scale, 10ish birds a day, some ex layers 100 or so and keep feeding, I'm sure you can do it for only a couple hundred pound each between a small group of friends. I suppose it's what a lot of friends aspire to, but finding the right land is the key! Commitment, well how long is a piece of string! The more you feed, the more you cut rides the more your are generally on the shoot the more you will get out of it!
  13. I'd suggest, like has already been suggested, you seek out some beating on local shoots. You will get to meet a lot of the local land/shoot owners and can only be a positive thing when introducing yourself when trying to gain permission. All the best pal.
  14. Having been a member of the forum for years, but very rarely contributing to any discussions, I thought I'd make more of an effort this year! I started off by advertising a few small driven days on our pheasant syndicate where we typically shoot anything between 25-40 head a day, I thought this was a good way to to get chatting to fellow members and hopefully meeting up with a few. Over the course of the season we've had RUSSYD, WILDFOWLER12, PASSIONFORANGLING, JDOG and WELSHANDY come down for a day. These are some of today's photos where WELSHANDY, who before today hadn't shot on a driven pheasant day before, came down on a beat 1 shoot 1. Bag total was 40 Pheasant and 9 woodcock. If anyone fancies an affordable, informal, and enjoyable day out drop me a PM. Cheers http://s87.photobucket.com/user/Dafydd-1983/slideshow/Shooting
