  1. I too have a digital camera but never take it with me incase i break it. It can also take small video clips but how do i get them to upload i'm not too shore? and as i normally shoot alone it will be a bit of a problem recording it
  2. I also set up on the clover on saturday night at 6.00pm after getting nothing all day on the peas. Packed up at half seven with a bag of 22. All these crops and they go to the grass and clover, typical isnt it
  3. I also shoot up around the A1 N YORKS, was out yesterday and only got 17 for a full day on peas.
  4. I went out yesterday aswell, doing the tour of the farms and didn't see hardly any woodies. none on the rape...................none on the beans etc etc. Time was getting on and then we saw a few landing onto a big field of grass and clover. shot 30 exactly in roughly 3hrs, should of hit more but didn't
  5. How about the distance from a railway line??
  6. unfortunately not these are in fact collard doves. Very boney bird but not vermin, i don't think??
  7. when i read the title i thought bloody hell they have made an actual flying pigeon
  8. Haven't used mine at all this winter even on the osr, i now mainly use a flapper with an intermitent timer. I think it depends on how overshot your fields are, two of the fields i shoot are very over killed e.g someone there nearly every day with a magnet. So if i do choose to shoot these fields i only use the flapper or nothing at all, only decoys.
  9. I always shoot sitting on either a plastic tub or a little chair, i have found on many an occasion that if i fire my gun then reload very gracefully and smothly i get another chance at the same bunch coming back as they don't see you behind the hide. I also do quite a bit of shooting with my dad, i too have found that you can still talk quite loudly and the pigeons are not put off.
  10. Went on on the sunday just gone, set up on one osr field first thing in the morning, shot 6 upto dinner time. Moved onto the next field of osr just down the road at 2.00pm and shot another 20 till 4.30pm. All the advice from you guys about decoying worked really well, now i just need the practice as i should of had over 50+ but i just couldn't hit them. They were all coming in really well and i was shooting them just before landing, wings back etc etc. I didn't use any devices such as flappers or magnets, the only thing i had out was a bouncer which decided to blow over in the wind so i left it out there flat on the deck and the pigeons were all going mad for it?? all shot in North yorks...... total cartridges fired was around 50-60 :*) good day out anyway
  11. unlucky Old Rooster I was out searching for the pigeons the other week, found them all flighting straight accross a field of rape and into some game cover. The local game keeper obviously refused me permision Set up on another field and shot 8 all day, i too watched them landing on a field which had been freshly drilled, hoping that they would come back but they didn't
  12. The most i have ever taken to any field to date is around 12 dead birds and 6 plastic half shell decoys. Perhapse you are correct about them expecting to see large groups on the floor feeding, as they are all grouped up this time of year. I normally start the day with just the flapper going as the fields i shoot are or have been over shot all ready by 'magnet fans' Good idea about the tails in the air as when you watch them feeding through the binoc's you can see there black tails more clearly than the white necks. I have 2 floaters but never really tried them yet, i did once but the wind was too strong and it kept falling over or the decoy would spin round. I read somewhere that to many white necks stuck up in the air would look like a group of pigeons just about to take off, or alerting others of danger??? cheers for the info
  13. Went shooting last weds, thurs and friday. Conditions were different every day, snow, sleet, rain etc. Ended up with 30 pigeons and 6 crows. It was a sight to see pigeons being drawn into the deeks in the middle of what can only be described as a blizzard
  14. Totally agree, i keep getting mine stuck in horthawn bushes this year, give it a good yank and the hawthorn breaks first, do this with a real tree camo net and it tears to pieces.
  15. i normally only use real pigeons defrosted out of the freezer, the question i want to ask to everyone who decoys is............. 1. Do you use a neck prop on all of the pigeons in your pattern? 2. With there being large winter flocks of pigeons do you think they would prefer to see 25 deacoys on the floor rather than lets say 10? 3. How many deacoys do you start the day with?
