  4. I feel the sentences were a little harsh considering both men were not involved phisically in any rioting, and that the riots they were trying to start never actually came about, so 4 year i feel is a little harsh, however, for the actual rioters caught smashing shop windows and buring cars, then let them have it

  5. i was in your position and looking at landys such as the defender and s3 but i found it to be equal with insurance with a disco commercial or (what i have now) a mitsu pinin van, 2.0L petrol 03. Believe it or not also cheaper to buy outright £1800 ;) and it has simple luxurys such as heater, radio and digital display etc. My insurance with the NFU commercial is £1300 17 no ncb just driving for 4-5 months. Also it handles most off road stuff aslong as your remember to be gentle and careful with deep ruts. :good:

  6. hey lads as for permission ive got over 350,000 acres to shoot, hunt and use my dogs on so lets not go there  and like i said in my other post you do things your way and i do it my way so lets not get into a stupid arguement over it im a little bit too old for this **** i can go on the thl for that

    Ha! Bull

  7. Alex... I don't know why they are getting all hot under the collar! (I can see them now... all bloated with purple faces.... spitting as they type  )

If that's what you do, you have good reason to do it, it obviously works.... fantastic..... I don't however, recall you ever posting a picture of one of your destroyed pigeons with a tag line of "pigeon vs .223!"

There are plenty of things we all do as shooters that could be seen as 'unhealthy' in others eyes... indeed there are plenty of things that go on in this world that others would find distasteful and possibly slightly lacking... The difference is, most of us don't go and post pictures of said activities with childish tag lines!

Was out this morning with Hawkeye, we were going to deal with a corvid problem on a corn field.. as it happens, the farmer had put his dairy herd in the field where we needed to set up so we had to abort. The decoy pattern would have been set up on grazing land and we would have been dropping the crows on pasture even though we were protecting a corn field. so, the crop thing was a bit of a 'troll' by me... and, if he had done it with a shottie, I may have seen things a little differently or shown a decent bag but in this instance... the photo, the tag line, everything about it said 'killed because I wanted to kill something!'..... not necessary and just re-inforces the public perception that we are all blood thirsty nut jobs.

If that's how the OP wants to get his kicks, who am I to criticize! (slightly worrying mind) He doesn't need to make a song and dance about it though... we don't need to see it and neither do members of the non shooting community who may stumble on it either.

so if you had got one crow over decoys, and the op had shot one crow with a 222 how is the end result any different. Yes shooting does protect farmers and their livelihood but your both shooting quarry because you get enjoyment out of it otherwise you wouldnt do it, afterall is not your crop is it?

  8. Simple....

You should have picked up the live rounds and handed them to the landowner and expressed your concern that someone has behaved carelessly.

If you don't do anything then you risk be blamed unfairly.

If it puts you in bad light with the other shooter then tough. The other shooter should have his license pulled, he is clearly irresponsible and unfit to have a firearms license. To drop and lose one round in long grass happens, but you suggest there were several, that is not acceptable.

  9. Crop protection?-as an excuse for shooting kits might be acceptable-but this is grass meadow and looks in good health to me.As for comments suggesting I have little knowledge or understanding of "crop protection" I might add that I,ve been doing it for over 35 years and have cleared more land of Rabbits than I care to remember.Anyway-must go now and shoot some fledglings out of their nests-they eat crops as well dont they?

i dont see your problem? shooting kits is just like shooting branchers in a rookery, trying to reduce the numbers before they grow fully and then do the damage.
