  3. as another post says ive been refinishing my winchester grand european stock with tru oil and seem to be getting terrible results, ive refinished other guns where it has been applied and drys and looks really nice. On this stock when i apply it, it drys 'streaky' like doesnt spread out evenly, thing is i dont know if its me or the oil because ive had it for quite a while
  4. jailbreak it best thing i did with mine
  5. yep, this finish is like a tough lacquer though, ive used nitromors on all the other stocks to good effect
  6. Yes!!! its not just me then, long slice across the top of my finger, wont be doing that again
  7. i have refinished 3 of my guns and i have got a winchester grand european with some dings and dents in the stock and the finish is a little worn near the start of the forend. I tried the usual nitromors but nothing happened, it seems to have a different harder finish on it than any of my other guns, how do i remove it?

  12. 2 of my guns are teauged, when im clay shooting i use extended, on a game shooting i use flush and they are hardly noticable
  13. try looking at it from the farmers point of view, everytime a TB test comes up you lose about 10+ prime dairy cows, its a blow as it take time money and effort to get the animal to the stage at which it joins the herd
  14. i think george on here did it, cant remember his username and i dont think he comes on here anymore, you might have him as a friend on facebook, FM does i think
  15. started sixth form lately and havent found it very good and to be honest its dull and i dont think its taking me anywhere towards where i would like to be in say 5-10 years. Now, its been my dream for a while now to get into gunsmithing and i found a school in amercia which is the pennsylvania gunsmith school , its looks like a dream college . Now should i follow my dream and find a bit of work to fund this trip to america and head off when im 18 or am i really dreaming and it will never happen, is there anything like it here in the uk?
  16. there is the saying that you cant teach an old dog new tricks, but i wouldnt class 2 as an old dog and my dog was partially trained - knew all the basics - when i first took him out and he is now a really good dog who will sit on the peg and he has gained more in experience than training could ever teach him
  17. im not going to be driving huge distances, most of my permissions are within 5 miles :look:
  18. ok so went into the NFU with a couple of cars in mind like the suzuki jimny, vitara, pajero junior and sportrak. First quote he came back with was £3200 to insure the jimny 3rd party fire and theft!!! i knew the vitara wasnt going to be any better £4500! We were just about to give up hope when i siad type in an old landy commercial, he did and it came to £1200! and then we typed in a Disco Tdi the 2.5 ones and it was the same £1200, then a Izuzu trooper which was £1300! all of the commercial 4x4's came out at around this price, thing is i can only have 2 seats and no rear windows. So PW's which is the best commercial 4x4, i am inclined to a disco but will i be walking most of the time because its broken down? :look: i have around £2000-2500 to spend, £3000 at a push :look:
  19. best advice GO COMMERCIAL! went do to the NFU today and they wanted about £3000 to insure me on a jimny :look: then he tapped in a commercial landy and it was £1250 and the same with a disco and trooper :look:
