  1. Ok great, thanks for the advice lads - much appreciated! Regards, Will
  2. Hi, I will soon be reloading my own 243 ammunition, and will be looking to use 75gr Vmax heads. I just wondered what primers and powder combinations people are using? Just to give me an idea of what to at least try first. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks, Will
  3. Thanks for the response guys, I thought as much! Think il be getting touch with police! Thanks Robby22
  4. Hi Simon, Thanks for the response, no it's nothing to do with shooting/discharging a firearm from roadside - that's what the officer was suggesting we do if we're lamping from there. It is just spotting with the lamp. Thanks
  5. Hi All, As topic title states, we were out lamping last week and got stopped by one of our local constabulary, after he had checked us out as having permission and being logged in with police hq, he then asked us if we had been lamping from the roadside - and if we had it was classed as a distraction to motorists/offence, he also stated that if we were lamping from the roadside "it would be tempting to take a shot from there" I replied stating that we are and always have been law abiding shooters, and that we sometimes lamp to spot, and then call up down our off-road tracks - as it doesn't chew up the mud tracks when there is nothing there, I also offered to let him see my rifle with the bolt/magazine removed (it was in a zipped up slip) to which he declined. He the said he was going to log it with hq that we were lamping from the road and insinuated that it could make renewal of certificates difficult? He then let us get going. Now it's clear to me an the lads I was with that he was against shooting because in the 3 years we have been actively lamping weekly we have been stopped about a dozen times and they have always been fine with us, but my questions are 1) is lamping from the roadside an offence? 2) if it is an offence would it make renewals difficult? Thanks in advance Robby22
  6. I use 243 with 75gr, and its spot on for foxing!
  7. I have a 17hmr CZ 452 American, and its the best tool I've ever used for bunnies, outstanding accuracy!!
  8. Hi, Both Gills & Hobbs, polecats & whites. last years litter, Good nature (can be handled) and are very good workers. Gills £15 Hobbs £10 Ferrets located Hull, East Yorks. Thanks Robby22
  9. CZ 452 .17 HMR sak mod, Weaver rail - day scope is Ritcher optic 3-12 x 56, and night is Pulsar 550 night vision.
  10. My personal view is - buy the best you can afford - if £150 is your limit then spend that, if £950 is you limit etc. But what i will say is that if you spend a bit more, you achieve better clarity in low light, and for the 300yards shots (if you shoot out that far) then better glass makes identifying quarry and making the shot a hell of a lot more easier. I have a £50 scope on my 17hmr, and a ziess on my .243 - and i love them both because they both are suited to the job and ranges i shoot at for each gun. Lets remember that when dispatching quarry - as long as you can do it quickly an cleanly, doesn't matter how much your scope costs!!! Robby22
  11. Thanks for the responses, really good points raised!! Second hand swaro or S&b would be the ideal by the sounds of it, but I'm also intrigued by ziess? Thanks again Robby22
  12. Thanks for the replies, my top line is £600. Just don't want to spend that amount of money on the wrong scope! Cheers Robby22
  13. Hi All, I have recently decided to treat myself to some new (slightly more up market glass for my .243 - mainly for lamping foxes). I have been looking at several brands, inlcuding leupold and have noticed that quite a few of these have a smaller objective lens size, BUT a lot higher and variable magnification. My query is will I still beneift if I have say a 40mm objective lens (instead of a 56mm), but have a higher magnifaction i.e 6.5 - 20 (instead of fixed power of 7). I will be shooting out to 300 yards ish - would this be a suitable sort of spec for this? Thanks Robby22
  14. Hi All, Various ferrets for sale Gills & Hobbs, polecats & whites. last years litter and one from this year. Good nature and older ones are very good workers. Gills £15 Hobbs £10 Ferrets located Hull, East Yorks. Thanks Robby22
