  1. We had a Forester & I took it all over picking up & never got it stuck. We had a guy in a Dacia picking up with us last season, it struggled a bit on some of the big loose climbs but he made it to every drive. If I was in the market for a sub 10k 4x4 i'd have a RAV, sub 70k miles ones start at 7k ish for 11 plate & newer.
  2. I've a Dave Cooper bike rack bracket to fit on to the back of my truck. I removed it off the old truck & have had it shot blasted along with rack. Is this stuff any good to paint it with? E-TECH Chassis Paint 500ml JET BLACK : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive

    Labrador Pups

Thank you. Mother of the pups is at the back leaning on her much darker yellow sister, her brother is on the right.

    Labrador Pups

Cheers, thank you. We do our best with them, they're in the house, & fed quality food. I've had the hard word & I'm only allowed to keep the one, this will be a bitch pup to keep our line going.

  6. We have a couple of Labrador dog pups available for new homes from the 29th of April onwards. Sire is a Field Trial winner & represented Scotland at the Game Fairs last season. Dam is part of my picking up team which is all home bred, I pick numerous days on grouse & pheasant from August to February. Both parents have good elbows, hips & eyes. They are also DNA tested. Pups are KC registered, price per pup is £1250. We're near Scotch Corner, North Yorkshire. Mother of the litter is to the left of the black dog. Sire of the litter.
  7. I've found having to shout at a dog whilst picking up is counter productive. If you have a dog that needs shouting at, it usually doesn't listen & all that happens is all the softer dogs all come rolling back to heel instead of being out hunting. I find that I can instantly know which dog it is at distance & if I think it's on something based on it's movements, some dogs I trust more than others. The right dog looking like it's on something, we hang around a bit longer before moving on. I do have a black dog but only the one.
  8. I prefer yellow, it's easier to tell which one is which when you're sweeping after drives.

I've recently used Kevin Haynes dog FTW Liverycroft Buffalo Dance of Cairngryffe, not too long a ride up the M6 / M74. A friend put me on to it, the dog had been a grouse training day he'd run. The dog did a mega retrieve on a wing tipped grouse that had disappeared over the horizon. https://www.champdogs.co.uk/dog/85257
  10. DNA testing has done nothing for the breed, all it's done is reduce the gene pool. I'm waiting to see how the stargadts **** show develops as it's carried by several well know trial dogs & some of the ones with very good social media that get a lot of studs. People run away from carriers which is completly wrong. I've spent an awful lot of money breeding out carriers from my dogs. Hip & elbows are slightly different. I'd never breed anything with an elbow score other than 0 & I've set my own maiximum mark for hips at 14 total with a maximum differential of 7, ie I wouldn't breed an 11 - 3. I've actually never bred from a bitch with a double digit hip score. All my picking up team are home bred, I have two bitch lines & I hope to get to the 4th generation of both in the next year.
  11. I picked up on Wednesday & it was steaming hot. The dogs kept going pretty well for all 5 drives. It wasn't a massive day with a lot of hunting for nothing & I'd only pick 10 brace or so, they had plenty of energy left for a bit of rabbit pegging. There's quite a bit of water about on the moors as it's been fairly wet at times this summer. As long as they can get in some water to cool off, they're fine. On an average day according to my phone, I'll do 10km with about 50 floors climbing. The dogs will be doing at least 3 times this, it's hard graft.
  12. The vet is the only person that will benefit from removing the nads from your dog. It's not the golden ticket that'll make it come back & I'd be fairly certain that the dog will continue to bitch. Your money is better spent having lessons from someone that knows what they're doing.
  13. You've more chance of getting something from proper working stock on there rather than some of the other popular alternatives.
  14. Just looked on gundogs direct, new listings in the first 5 days of July - 32 labrador litters, 40 cocker litters, 11 springer litters & 8 various others.
  15. I doubt anybody would look to use your dog if it's not dna tested for at least PRA CNM SD2 & EIC. Whilst I agree with health testing, it's screwing the gene pool up as folk won't keep carriers in the gene pool. The modern labrador pedigree would have looked very different if they'd know about carriers 25 years ago, most of the prolific dogs would never have got a stud. Dog market these days seems to revolve around colour (fox red) & health tests, working ability does't seem to come into it. The days of everybody going to the latest FTCH appear gone as well, it all seems to revolve around who has the best social media. Pup market's currently screwed, there's a glut of pups about. I'm seeing a lot of sly advertisements on facebook, not only for pups but a lot for older ones that have been kept back.
  16. I can't see anything on this site with anything other than my phone. Tried all sorts without any success.
  17. We've bred quite a few litters & the litter dynamic changes as pups are sold & leave. It's almost like there's a pecking order, usually the one to go is the boldest, most outgoing pup. once that pup goes another takes over centre stage & gets bolder. Bar a few surprises, I've found I can usually predict which pup will go before the punters arrive. This falls down when someone turns up that's a proper dog man and he wants the pup that's sat in the corner watching & taking notice of everything that's going on........the one I'm planning on keeping!
  18. Harvey Wiggins has some pups that are black, he's also reasonably local to you, look him up on facebook.
  19. I assume you're on the health test result finder? If there's only the COI info there it means that the dog you're looking up has had no health testing. You need to scroll further down to its pedigree & then you click on the dogs names to see their health test information.

  21. Don't get a revolver style pistol as they can be a bit hit or miss for going bang, particularly when they've had a bit of use. The Rohm or EMGE magazine ones are better.
  22. Get the lot done, how do you know which pup you want at 3 days old? I've bred spaniel litters & I've never had the 3rd degree questioning from the vet as to where they'll eventually go.
  23. Chuck her food across the patio, that'll slow things down.
  24. Need to be quick if you want a new one before 2023, the UK quota for 2022 is spoken for up until September. Info from the dealer I've one on order from, they phoned me yesterday to give me an update on mine.
  25. I'd just stop taking it for a walk. Problem solved, no more pulling.
