  1. http://www.equafleece.co.uk/store/dogs.html I think these are the original ones, supposed to very useful.
  2. I've been thinking about having a pair of Meindl Desert Boots for the summer as they can be picked up farily cheaply off ebay. Can anybody tell if they're the same wide fit as Meindl Douvre Boots?
  3. http://www.magic.gov.uk/default.htm slow as ******* but you can print stuff from it.
  4. My local shop have been supposed to be getting a supply in, they were due at the end of January but they're now quoting mid February.
  5. new 10 round mags are due in the shops soon
  6. Sorry, didn't intend to come over as a snotty ******. Try http://www.thegundogclub.co.uk/Training/aw...me/hprtests.htm I do know that they Gundog Club took a bit of stick over the lack of info for HPR owners, I think it was possibly something to do with lack of trainers.
  7. Where on that site does it say anything about HPRs? There are some videos of what a HPR is supposed to do on youtube but I can't seem to find one! It's not the same style job as training a spaniel.
  8. If your dog will not come back to you why are you trying to teach it to quarter? You're trying to run before you can walk. Buy a dvd, buy a book or even better go & have a few lessons from a Pro trainer. You could also read free information from the internet, there's loads of gundog info out there & it's simple enough to find. Don't take this the wrong way but the first one that needs training is you, not the dog.
  9. It's perfectly safe to feed a dog RAW bones from birds, fish or mammals. My dogs live on raw food only, the only cooked stuff they get is kitchen scraps. They get no meal based products, biscuits etc. at all. Main stuff they eat is:- Chicken wing Chicken carcass rabbit lamb breast ox heart tripe Fish heads, still to find a good regular supply of this Blended raw veg & fruit with egg (incl shells) & oil Oily tinned fish + tinned tomatoes + baked beans as a treat.
  10. Gilsan have some decent deals on scopes at the moment. http://www.gilsansports.com/products.asp?search_id=15
  11. There always has to be one to chip in with a terrible pun.

  13. I've owned an Ultralight for a while now, my style of shooting tends to revolve a round a two or three hour walk. I've been using 32g #6 all year & I've shot in the region of 50 or 60 during a walk, the gun doesn't kick excessively & I've never noticed any kind of a mark on my shoulder. It's spot on for what I do. I previously owned a 525 which I found both heavy & numb for a lot of walking.

  15. You must live in a different part of North Yorkshire to me, it's been rife in Swaledale since late June early July.
  16. I'd buy & read these http://www.thegundogclub.co.uk/shop/books/index.html grades 1 & 2 would do for starters. Wouldn't bother with any of their courses though as I think they're expensive. Read the books & try work it out from there, if you get stuck contact a pro gundog trainer locally. You can usually get lessons for £20 an hour & from personal experience it's money well spent. Remember it's you that needs training to train the dog.
  17. Try ebay if you get no response from here as they come up on there regularly. You can also get it from Amazon.
  18. I gave that a go this weekend, works well, I think I'll make a hook to hang over the top rail of a gate & then it's easy done out in the field.
  19. The veg is usually all the peelings from Sunday lunch (not potato) with usually some extra carrot, apple, a couple of eggs (shells as well) & some veggy or olive oil. All of this is pulped up in the blender. I usually give them 2 or 3 heaped table spoons of this mixed up with the mince or tripe. I'll give them this twice a week. A big bonus of raw feeding is the lack of **** compared to dry foods, what does come out is very dry & hard. When crushed it turns to powder. Read all of what's on this site http://www.krisannriorawfeeding.com/index.htm a few times, I found it very good. We've got 3 kids, they grown up fit & healthy on what we wanted to feed them on & so I'm confident enough to do the same with my dogs. Give it a go, it's not as daunting as it may seem.
  20. BARF & Raw feeding are different. I raw feed which means veggys don't play a signicant part in the diet, I do feed some veggy but not daily. My labs weigh somewhere between 50 - 60 lbs so at 2 - 3% of body weight a day that's something like 1 1/2lbs a day. As I said I used to weigh the food when I started but now I guess. I feed my growing 13 month old more than I feed my mature 4 year old. My older dog used to be a ******** machine that wouldn't put on condition eating dry food she's completely different now. I'd guess a springer would need 3/4 to 1 lb of food a day, weigh her at the vets to check. My 13 month old Lab bitch, Poppy.
  21. I've found that the amount that it says on the bags is way OOT. When I did feed my dogs on dry food I always fed the minimum quantities & often less. If will eat tripe why not try raw feeding? I've been doing this since March & both of my Labs love it. This site is a good read http://www.krisannriorawfeeding.com/index.htm I buy some frozen stuff from here http://www.daf-petfood.co.uk I get lamb breasts foc from a local butcher, I give them most of the rabbit I shoot & chuck in some pulped veg / fruit now & again. For a treat they get to share a tin of pilchards, tomatoes & baked beans, the love it. The whole raw feed job isn't as messy as it sounds & you soon get the hang of how much to feed them. They're supposed to have 2 - 3% of their body weight a day & I started off weighing stuff but I started guessing it after a while.
  22. It's absolutely rife all round here. I shot 20 or so on Friday night before I got a clean rabbit & that was ignoring the ones that looked really shagged up with it. The ones I shot had at least one gammy eye, hair missing or warts. My farmers attitude is don't shot the mixxy ones as he'd rather it kill off as many as possible leaving more grass for his sheep to eat, so it looks like I'll not be shooting much until the frosts start & all the mixy ones disappear.
  23. Get a Landcruiser, go anywhere in comfort on or off road & 100% reliable. You can currently get them for peanuts via dealer discounts. http://www.autoebid.com/carSearch.asp?make...R%20DIESEL%20SW
  24. They will? Great! Somebody told me they'd not, should have rung them myself in the first place. What's the current going rate?
