  1. Hi all, I'am concerned about potential conditions coming back on my FAC do I email BASC ahead of being told about the conditions on the license so I can understand what my reply could be and get them mitigated or do I wait or do I just accept them? Secondly - If I do get accepted I need some rifles and would like to know somewhere well recommended north of Bath/East of Bristol to go and look at some - Where is any good and o they p/x? Thanks in advance. PUSC
  2. Looking for a cheap fac semi auto. Preferably synthetic and 8+1.
  3. Just had the FEO round to check me out for Rimfire FAC, .22 and 17HMR. All OK but he asked if I had experience with the calibers. I had to reply that although I had 30 years with a shotgun and more with an air-rifle, i had not shot a rimfire, tho I am familiar with safety aspects.the ranges they shoot to, ballistics, etc. He told me he would like me to get some experience with someone with a rimfire, just to get a feel of the difference I guess, discuss safe shooting and tips, get a few shots down range etc. He pretty much made it a condition, and to give him a call after, where he would process the application. I asked some questions, it could be an informal session, maybe an hour he suggested. I have no issue with this, a bit suprised maybe, but quite happy to pick up tips and pointers, and talk about shooting! Problem is I don't really know anyone that could help me out, so if any one is up for it, and is in a reasonable distance by car of Stockton on Tees, then I am looking for a volunteer! Actually another member I go shooting with has also applied for his FAC, is in the same area so same FEO, will probably be told the same , so possibly accomodate 2? We would be happy to pay for any ammunition of course, and a 'beer or two' or whatever! Any way, hopefully no harm in asking I hope! 'rimfire-rookie'
  4. hi can you tell me wot would be max power I could get out of my r10 as thinking of putting it on my ticket (open fac) can't get close enough to bunnies with my sub12 so need more power
  5. So put in for my .223 cf for foxs munjac cwd vermin and got my ticket back All on there with the condition "To only be used whilst accompanied by an experienced shot " Ok happy days good idear spoke with my friend and he said he will do it so got my fac Tuesday been out Tuesday afternoon and night Thursday night and hopfuly to tonight But my mentour has asked me when he can send the letter in ? My firearms office said when you mentour says your safe !!! but mentour said I was safe before I got my ticket and have a good awareness of shoot placement for a human kill But reading the cover letter from the firearms department it's says "Once experience has been gained in the use of the rifle , application can be made for the removal of this restriction . A letter from the experienced shot specific to the quarry your firearms certificate has been conditioned for advising that you can shoot unaccompanied or the completion of a recognised course will suffice So if I I did my dsc tommrow would that not be suffice It all seams to be a money maker
  6. Well, finally sorted the masses of paper work for my FAC - just going for a few rifles for target shooting. I passed my probation at my target club last month, so now I'm a full member it was time to send off for my certificate. Now it's just a case of what my FEO will grant me on a first time application, whether I'll need any additional security and how many months I'll have to wait! Gives me a reason to start saving up for some new toys - might even try to convince the mrs that a nice underlever would make a great anniversary present.
  7. Turned up as usual on Friday to find out I've passed my probation period at my local target club. Good news - but not unsurprising. I've had no issues with safety or weapons handling and I've attended pretty much every week. This club's quite close to me - roughly 20 mins from where I live, so I'm there more often then I do clays now. I'll be applying for my FAC next month now, just got to decide what to get. Obviously, I've already got a long shopping list in my head of what I'd like. Realistically, would I get a list of 7+ firearms on a first time FAC application? Currently, I'm only planning to get two next year - probably a decent target .22lr and something bigger, just for variety. Probably about the same the year after etc. Am I better to ask for everything I want over the next few years now, or would the police think I'm being cheeky and prefer my to do a variation each year or so?
  8. Hi there, I am currently in the process of applying for my FAC, i am going to be applying for a .17hmr and a .243 reasons being vermin control, foxes and deer. What is a good amount of ammunition to put down in the section on where it asks maximum ammo in possession at any one point and maximum being bought at any one point. Any other tips or advice on applying would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Henry
  9. I've had my SGC for just over 6 months, but I've decided I'd also like to do some target shooting (probably with a .22 LR and some kind of historic rifle). Obviously, no FAC yet, so I'll be a probationary member for about 6 months before I can apply. Is anyone else here a member of a target club - any general advice (no no's, faux pas to avoid etc.) for a new member? I've read their club rules a few times, so I think I'm up to speed there.
