  1. Hi all I know i haven't posted in an age, but wanted to share a film Field Sports Britain did about me on Air Heads, in the hope that if you know anyone who feels they are unable to participate in Airgun Shooting in anyway, it may start them thinking differently. So if anyone is feeling sorry for themselves about their inability to be included, they're running out of excuses! If they come again for a sequel with the shotty, I've suggested we look at getting Emma Watson and a shared shower scene.... in strict keeping with the plot of course! Apologies for the shameless self promotion!

  4. Hi, Myself and a friend are looking for some pigeon shooting in the Surrey and surrounding areas. We are both very experienced shots and have been shooting for 10+ years. We hold shotgun and firearms licenses along with BASC insurance. We also have trained gun dogs for pickups and we always leave land as it was before we arrived. We are happy enough to pay for this privilege so if you have any suitable land please get in touch. Many thanks, Simon

  11. Hi guys, Does anyone know about shooting opportunities in Oxfordshire or surrounding counties? I'm new to this and would like to try my hand at pigeon shooting. Any help would be welcomed. Thank you.
  12. I have done a bit of decoying before but only ever with static decoys. Now the opportunity has come up that i will be able to do some more especially over winter on oil seed rape etc. I am looking to buy either a flapper or a rotary decoy as with so much 'food' around for the pigeon, I expect I will need movement to bring them in. Could you please help me with this decision. Giving reasons for each and where you can buy good ones that don't cost an arm and a leg....... Any other advice on shooting pigeons over oil seed rape in winter would also be very helpful!!! Many thanks
  13. Hi there, I am looking for some pigeon/rook/rabbit shooting in the surrey area for a group of 5 guns. We are willing to pay and travel for this. Many thanks, Simon Lockyer
  14. Hi all, Have five spaces spare on a duck shoot with walked up pheasants, The day is around 100 birds no bag limit,Fourteen guns . The shoot is on the Somerset Devon border. Must prove you have a full uk gun license and insurance, a dog would be a bonus. Good hight on ducks and a few good drives for pheasants so intermediate guns needed. £200 plus tip £20 please email me for any details wildlife@inbox.com 22 and 31 dates Hi again guys after some feedback I will give you some back ground info on the shoot, my dad picks up and helps the shoot all year and in return he gets a couple of days a bit cheaper not a lot but a little. We usually have the same 14 guns but this year due to holidays and work commitments we are five guns short. I live and shoot in Buckinghamshire and my dad shoots and lives in Somerset I have most of the guns coming from bucks and a couple from Somerset. I didn't realise how hard it would be to get 14 guns we new to shoot but its hard when a few people you usually count on cant do it. With this our regular outing and to you a first time to meet us it's a bit worrying as we don't want to lose the deal we get and you want to make sure your getting a good deal. So the best I can say is pm me I will give you my number we can have a chat and go from there. Regards sorry its long winded Nigel.
  15. I love to go pigeon shooting with my shotgun. But what gets me is that there are some absolutely huge woodies that sit on my fence in the back garden. I can shoot them safely ( my neighbour wants them gone, and it would be a safe shot angle wise ). My only problem is the lack of an Air-Rifle................but I do have a HW45 Pistol that is accurate and hits hard ( .177 ) Is it considered not the done thing to shoot a pigeon with an Air-Pistol ? I can hit an extra strong mint at the distance I am planning to whack the cereal killers from !! So I think a head shot would work !! What say you all?? And don't start slagging me off for asking !! I am seeking advice.............I haven't done it yet !!!! I'm quite sure the old HW45 has enough clout...........................at the range I am gonna shoot ( 10-12M ) it consistently pierces both sides of an empty dog food tin, so I imagine it will tear through a pigeons noggin with ease !! I await your helpful responses !!!! ps. Please don't bombard me with all the legal jargon !! I know it already !! I live way out in the sticks, so there's no little kiddies eyes to be shot out etc !!

  18. Hi In need of shooting buddy to accompany on pigeon shooting forrays. I have a permision on 120 acres rape near marlborough that the farmer is keen to keep pigeons off. 20. I've just got back from doing a recce, for tomorrow, on my permission. A flock of around thirty woodies were continually hitting a couple of hedgerows. I knew that they weren't after cobnuts or sloes (both had a very poor season) and I thought they might be after the haws. On closer examination I found that they were stuffing themselves full of deadly nightshade berries. This got me worried - if I bag a few for the pot is there a chance of poisoning myself?
  21. Hello All, Firstly, thanks to everyone for the great advice I’ve found on here so far – I’ve learnt loads from just trawling the forums – it’s all good stuff! Now, about me: I’m an ex infantry officer (1st Bn The Yorkshire Regiment) who has come back to the real world and got a job in Birmingham. As a result, I’ve recently moved to Warwickshire (near Henley-In-Arden) and now I’ve sorted out the house, I’m looking to get back into shooting. In short, I thought I’d post on the off chance that someone has a few fields that they could do with a hand on. I am an early riser, so can do a few hours first thing or in the early evening. In addition, I can think of no better way of spending my weekends than sat in a hide waiting for the critters to come knocking… I am a full member of the BASC, hold a shotgun certificate and also have a silenced PCP for rabbits … Also, although I’ll never be able to shoot game, I’d love to have a crack at some beating, so if anyone knows of a shoot in or around Stratford-Upon-Avon who could do with an extra pair of legs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Cheers all. Jim
  22. hi all iam new to the forum,,,and must say its a good one ive been shooting for 30 years now ,from airrifle ,shottys and FAC rifles a friend and i have been a bit puzzled of late ,we have shot on a 2000 acre farm for 5 years now and its rape barley and pea ,wheat ,weve always see big flocks of pigeons 200/300 at a time ,we shoot all year and any weather ,the farmer always rings us to say hes seen 70 trillion, billion pigeons on his crop ,lol we average bags of 80 birds ,not the big bags of 150/200 ,but its been regular ,then for some reason they have gone over night just at the start of this year ,the flight lines have gone !!!! last Friday the farmer cut 2 of his barley fields only due to the rain ,these were the only 2 to be cut for miles ,so we planed to go back to them on Sunday ,van full of lead, all the deeks and magnet, watching vids on you-tube and reading all the post on pigeon watch ,we were well buzzed up for a good shoot ,got to the farm hoping to see the field grey like it used to be !? well lets say after 1 hour of watching for flights we didn't even get the guns out seeing just 4 pigeons flying past and they weren't even dropping into the stubble ,we were heading home ! has anyone else had this problem ,the farmer said its because we have had a mild winter and the pigeons have been eating from the ivy and other tree buds ?
