  1. Hi, Just thought i’d post a quick message to say im looking for shooting permission in either the Carmarthenshire or Powys areas of Wales (free of charge of course). Mainly rough shooting although looking to grow into decoying. I have both shotguns and air rifles and i’m also insured. Please feel free to pm me with anymore details you would like to know. Thanks
  2. Hello all, Possible new permission coming up (rabbits, pigeons, crows, rats) and i just had a few questions really as i am told it is quite a small field: 1. What would be the smallest size field i would be able to shoot in (in regards to safety)? I am just thinking rough shooting at the moment. 2. Where would i stand on the fact there are no crops in the field? Hay is baled there though be it in very small quantities. I would mainly be using a shotgun 12 bore. Occasional use of a .22 sub 12ftlbs air rifle. There aren’t any neighbouring houses however the field i am told is surrounded by other fields owned by another farmer/landowner. Thanks in advance
  3. Hello all. As I'm sure you are well aware, the wildfowling season is fast approaching. This is particularly exciting for my stepdad and myself as we have managed to secure some wildfowling rights for the very first time. Also fast approaching is my stepdad's birthday, so it would seem the obvious move would be to buy a suitable jacket for the usually difficult man in question. The problem, however, is that I am completely unfamiliar with the most effective waterproofing and camouflage solutions that are on offer nowadays (my shooting is currently limited to clays and game). If it helps at all, he's of average height (around 5'9") and average weight. We live and have rights to shoot in Cumbria so excellent waterproofing is absolutely essential. It will likely be a joint gift from myself and the mother so money isn't too much of a worry. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance, Kieran.
  4. Hello, I am looking at getting myself a new air rifle, I want a pcp .22 cal gun, I am wanting a multi shot but would like some opinions on what rifle to get, what is the best air rifle around? I have a budget of about £800 may exceed if needed, I don't mind if it is brand new or second hand I just want a really accurate and reliable gun that I can go rabbit shooting with as that's is my intended purpose and occasionally pidgions and other pests what suggestions makes and models do you lot have? I want a gun I can have for a good few years and won't let me down. Many thanks Alex
  5. looking for advice , thinking of buying a pump action gun for pigeon, vermin and fowling. I own a Beretta ultra lite and looking for something for the rough stuff. My Friends dont rate the pump action , was looking at winchester and remington what do you guys think?
  6. Hello all PW members, Hope your week has been better than mine, I was out on the field in last nights rain and although I was in a full water proof outfit I still got soaked. Still a bad day on the field beats a good day at work. Now for the spot of bother bit, as some of you know i enjoy shooting as much as the next PW member however i am fast coming into a spot of bother, the permission i have has basically ran out of rabbits. I am the only shooter on the land which inst very big, other than the land owner so its not because of to many shooters, i have just shot them all. Which is great for the land owner but bad for me. This as much as i hate to say it a plea for help, with next to no rabbits to shoot my rifle is fast collecting dust. If anyone out there can help me with nights/days out and about on their permission i would be forever be in your favor even if its just lamping until you get to know me. I am no fool when it comes to shooting and fully understand this does not give me permission to shoot on your land/permission and likewise for whom ever helps me. Although i wont be able to repay whomever with shooting on my permission, not unless you wish to shoot grass because that's all about there is now. I am more than willing to return the favor in what way i can and hopefully meet a new good friend along the way. Of course i am fully insured with BASC and if your wondering i have a F.A.C Sako Quad .22 Rim with Moderator. Also i am thinking of putting in for a HMR soon so i would love for anyone who has this and/or higher caliber rifles to give me tips and tricks, never can have too much experience, likewise for me if your an Air Gunner with F.A.C cleared land/permission i would be more than happy to safely teach, and hopefully help you to gain a F.A.C as a way of repaying you for your good deeds. Please PM me if you can help me out, If not thanks for the time you took to read this many thanks Nick.
  7. So I cannot find anywhere apart from thetford where you can shoot over a single shot .22rf I am looking for a range to shoot .270 Anyone have any ideas
  8. Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction, in regards to shooting lamps for foxes. I want a lamp that is hand held and plugs into a 12 v (cig lighter) socket in a truck, What are the advantages of LED ones verses the ones with bulbs? What to look for when buying one, good brands etc? Price wise.... I am looking for a decent lamp and willing to pay for it! Of course I have had a look online and read many product reviews but would like to know from people that actually use them and can give impartial advice and views on what different lamps ACTUALLY are like to use, rather than just details of them. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your help! Tom

  13. Hi all, I'm Rich, and new to the PW forum. I'm a thirty-eight year-old airgunner, forager and general lover of all things country-sports. I've spent a long time shooting targets and plinking, and would be out taking some Woodies and Rabbits and other vermin, were it not for the lack of a permission to shoot on! I'm keen to meet other shooters/ hunters around these parts (or further afield; I have transport) for shooting, beer and enjoying the outdoors, so feel free to get in touch! Rich

I am hoping to meet some new shooting buddies so that I can co minute and improve in the sport I love. I live in East Sussex and have enjoyed some rough shooting but would love to find some land to shoot regular pigeon days on. I also visit Wiltshire regularly and don't mind traveling to the land if ever the opportunity came up. Well that's me in short looking forward to getting know more about the forum and develop my shooting. Best wishes Joe

  17. I have done a bit of decoying before but only ever with static decoys. Now the opportunity has come up that i will be able to do some more especially over winter on oil seed rape etc. I am looking to buy either a flapper or a rotary decoy as with so much 'food' around for the pigeon, I expect I will need movement to bring them in. Could you please help me with this decision. Giving reasons for each and where you can buy good ones that don't cost an arm and a leg....... Any other advice on shooting pigeons over oil seed rape in winter would also be very helpful!!! Many thanks

  24. Just bought one of these scopes for £67 plus £8 postage total £75 in near mint condition bar the usual ring marks. Just wondering what people think of this particular scope and will it suit a .22lr I will be purchasing soon? And whether I paid around the right price for it. Thanks
  25. Well after seeing so many people on here decoying and getting good numbers of pigeons and crows I decided it was time to have a go at it myself. So whilst at the CLA Game fair I treated myself to 24 flocked pigeons 2 floaters and 6 crow decoys which had been sat in their bag for a couple of weeks till now. So time off came and these little beauties came out..... So Day 1 I trundled down to my permission and spoke to the farmer to find out where he has been having the most trouble with crows and he pointed me in the right direction. So set up by 1030 with my pigeons 30 yards to the front and slightly to the right in what look like a 6 and then the crows slightly to the left again in the shape of a 6. With the wind going straight over my head towards the decoys. Thought it was going to take forever for birds to come in but I hadn't even got comfy behind my cam net when the first pigeon came in. They just kept on coming the crows came in in massive numbers I couldn't reload fast enough as I am only using an old non ejector 12g. But got 11 crows and 6 pigeons Day 2 Set up for 0930 on a different field taking a friend with me this time as he had never done any decoying either and wanted to witness what I was ranting on about the night before. Unfortunately there wasn't much wind yesterday so wasn't really sure how to set up my decoys anyway I set up and put the hide under some trees and had the dog bed today to sit on. But again 5 minutes in and we already had 5 in the bag. I kept putting the shot birds out making my crow flock up to about 15 before I stopped putting them out and just started piling them up. Unfortunately I got a call which meant we had to pack up and go home early. We still got 22 crows and 11 pigeons
