  6. Hi Folk's, while sitting in our hide today waiting for the pigeons to show up (late as usual) the question was raised as to what is on general licence, can anybody tell us or point us in the right direction to find out so that we are all clear on the subject. Not to good today only 42 between us but had a cracker last week. A mixed bag of pigeons and crows well over 170 for a full day.
  7. Hi all I know i haven't posted in an age, but wanted to share a film Field Sports Britain did about me on Air Heads, in the hope that if you know anyone who feels they are unable to participate in Airgun Shooting in anyway, it may start them thinking differently. So if anyone is feeling sorry for themselves about their inability to be included, they're running out of excuses! If they come again for a sequel with the shotty, I've suggested we look at getting Emma Watson and a shared shower scene.... in strict keeping with the plot of course! Apologies for the shameless self promotion!
  8. Hello, I'm sure everyone knows just how hard it is to find some land to shoot on, I would like guidance on the subject, I'm looking at shooting rabbits, I have a air rifle 11.5ft/lb(borrowing) and quite familiar with it, I would like some guidance on the best way to approach and get permission to shoot on land, there is a local golf course about 10 minuite walk from my house and when going for a stroll last night I must have seen at least 60 rabbits I would like to go ask permission from them but I don't know the best way to so this, I know it's a 50/50 chance as getting permission I got plenty of pictures and videos of the rabbits as proof of there numbers and of damage they are doing, but there is one big disadvantage for me, I'm only 17!! I have just joined basc as a jounior airgunning member (u21) as I thought it might give me a little help in getting permission, as it will look better for me having it as it comes with basic insurance ect... I will also be going to local farms to seek permission so I need all the help I can get! Many thanks Alex
  9. Hello, I am looking at getting myself a new air rifle, I want a pcp .22 cal gun, I am wanting a multi shot but would like some opinions on what rifle to get, what is the best air rifle around? I have a budget of about £800 may exceed if needed, I don't mind if it is brand new or second hand I just want a really accurate and reliable gun that I can go rabbit shooting with as that's is my intended purpose and occasionally pidgions and other pests what suggestions makes and models do you lot have? I want a gun I can have for a good few years and won't let me down. Many thanks Alex
  10. Hi everyone, I know that my questions may have already been answered before but I can't find them and I'm still getting used to the site. I want to go camping with my girlfriend to woodland area. We have researched everything and are going to start somewhere quite easy to camp and not too far away and gradually work our way up to some more wild areas further away, but while out there, I'd like to hunt a bird and eat it as it's always been something I've wanted to do. I have heard that pigeon is one of the easiest species to catch and can be quite tasty which is why I'd like to try it. I know how to de-breast a pigeon as I have been taught that but I'm just wondering if you have any tips on hunting them, such as what pellets to use (I have BSA .22 High Impact Interceptor in 15.43grain) and an SMK starter air rifle. It may be one of the cheaper ones but it does have some kick behind it with the BSA pellets. I'd also love to hear some ways that other people have cooked their pigeon when out camping. I hope I haven't rambled on too much and you understand what I'm trying to find out. Thanks everyone, Michael
  11. Hi, I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if this has been asked many times before. Me and my cousin live near Stevenage, in Hertfordshire, and have owned air rifles for a few years now. I do regular target shooting and have done the occasional bit of pest control on a local farm but am struggling to gain land permission. I have knocked on many farmer's door but with no success. Is anybody aware of any local places to shoot or needs any help controlling pests on any land that they own. I am able to shoot Rats, Rabbits, Pigeons, Squirrels, Crows, Magpies, all of the suitable quarry for an air rifle. I am responsible and will get covered with BASC if I am able to get shooting permission. Any response will be much appreciated, thank you.
  12. Hello, sorry I have been posting a lot recently but still deciding on a good air rifle for myself. 13. Hi all, I'm Rich, and new to the PW forum. I'm a thirty-eight year-old airgunner, forager and general lover of all things country-sports. I've spent a long time shooting targets and plinking, and would be out taking some Woodies and Rabbits and other vermin, were it not for the lack of a permission to shoot on! I'm keen to meet other shooters/ hunters around these parts (or further afield; I have transport) for shooting, beer and enjoying the outdoors, so feel free to get in touch! Rich
