  1. I have a couple of fairly small perms for foxes. At the mo, all I have is .22LR and 17 HMR. I'm aware that neither is ideal so would like to go for something more capable of a reliable clean kill. The HMR certainly does the job at the ranges I'm shooting at but I'm aware that V-Max rounds have their limitations if they hit a big chunk of bone or if the placement isn't perfect. I don't need long range as alomost all are within 100 yards but I do want to minimise ricochet and the risk of just injuring them. I think a .223 might be a bit too much for the land I'm on and I hear they are pretty noisy which is a consideration as both perms have horses. That said, the HMR doesn't seem to spook them too much. Suggestions? Thoughts on 17 Hornet?
  2. SO I waited and waited for pigeons on my permission and none showed...so eventually I took a quick walk around before calling it a day and stalked up to 9 rabbits (only got one snap of two) and then found these two and followed them a whiles. Give them both 2 rounds from the semi and they were stone dead after the first, both with tight patterns to the head at a close (20 yards) range. The MPA stock came into it's own i was able to quickly reload to relieve any chance of suffering rather than rummage through pockets...I didnt even think I'd like the 2 round holder.
  3. Hi, Myself and a friend are looking for permission to shoot on land over Surrey. We are both very experiences shots and hold our own insurance and all the equipment needed. If you have any land that you require pest control help on or just any land that you would allow us to shoot over please contact me as it would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, Simon
  4. I am looking to buy my first rifle and along with it my first scope I have put off buying a rifle for a couple of years for all sorts of reasons but have now decided to take the plunge and I have to admit that as much as i love shooting with rifles i actually don't know a lot about scopes and moderators. I getting a .243 and i would very much appreciate ANY ADVICE ON SCOPES and moderators, with recommendations of different scopes, in different price ranges (above £200) and reasons why. I am looking for a good quality scope that will be versatile for lamping foxes and stalking deer. (around the 4-12 x50 magnification area) I look forward to hearing any advice you have to offer. Many thanks
  5. Hi wonder if anyone can help - Getting a 22 Hornet soon, and lots of people on these forums either have one or know about them. Was looking at a Weirauch or CZ ( there are no 527's in the country till Late Feb 2014. But will be reloading, where do people get the heads from as some research shows that lots of cast lead bullets for the Hornet are not very accurate - unless someone knows better... FYI Had to have a .22 Hornet as my land near Milton Keynes is too flat for a .223 Cheers Pete H
